this emperor chose his 2nd wife over his kids at every point, now he's oh so sad the children are choosing their beloveds over him. cry more, die mad 🤗
😂😂🤣 i like fu yixiao. that man said 🥹🥹leave me, pleasse, you are my weakness 🤲🥹. she said😐😐 bet, packed her bags and went about her own business 😂like no one has time for alla dat
this princess watched that man try to kill her brother, like arguably the only person that loves her in the entire world and she still went with him?? yea i can no longer blame her foolishness on the empress' upbringing
sa dingding's ost omg! i don't necessarily find the song interesting, but the technique captured me. the way she's crooning? its like the drama is her baby and she's singing over it trying to put it to sleep, the way her voice fades in and out? nah she is goated
producers - if you're gonna give your ml only two shirts to film the entire drama then at least make sure they're both plain, that blue striped shirt is too distinct to be worn so many times, made him look homeless
its mostly enjoyable if you're in a slice of life/melo mood. the small town vibe is very strong in this one, and the ost is to die for.
the writing was overly biased towards the fl, she had her cake then ate it. in fact she had two cakes then ate some more, ig they were trying to overcompensate for her disability, and that really clashed with the whole realism vibe the drama was trying so hard to nail. the ml's overall attitude towards her was also too fantastical to mesh with the drama's mood, like exactly which eligible bachelor would let a woman treat him like that? although all their conflicts ended up seeming contrived bc none of it mattered in the end. she wasn't very likable, still i liked that she was such a distinct character, and the two of them melded quite nicely together. also her boho chic outfits ate, like it gave runway the entire time.
watching this really hurts my eyes, the overly filtered faces alone are giving me an headache. but the fl is just so fun lmao, and her prince charming is really prince charming
jing shi and wei ran are portrayed so sympathetically, i lowkey feel bad for them, even without knowing their situation completely and ion like dat. ig that's what good writing is
i liked the fight between wei ran and yi xiao. how the scene was split between darkness and moonlight, how it was so close, you didn't know who was gonna win, how they were allowed to fight without any interruptions, just like siblings should. the emotional component was also there i get why she couldn't kill him.
sigh this is how it feels to have a strong smart fmc who can handle her own business. so far i've never had to second guess any of her decisions or actions, i just watch on in peace. this is bliss
another grudging addition - story of yanxi palace's emperor
*cue mariah carey* they belong togetherrrrr
