its not just her not having any pursuits that make her so likable, no there are many such fls. but she's smart and self aware and she always knows what time it is, and she never lets any of that intrude on her me time lmao. also she chose not to be more powerful and I like that, its very in line with her ideology atm

its a running theme thoughout the entire drama not just at the start, and its beyond her simply asserting herself and being treated with respect when most of her demands are against the rules and the men already adore her, honor her father and respect her capabilities. no she's a fundamentally abrasive character, and i'm speaking as someone who doesn't mind a mean fl, in fact she's right up my alley. and that probably stems from her birth and station, she's a nepo baby who's never had to build relationships bc she inherited them, and she was also raised by rough men so it all tracks. and I like that the writers gave her the freedom to be caustic while still making her likable
while I don't have a problem with the first half of the drama, I agree with the general sentiment that the last 10 episodes have a tighter narrative and a crisper pace. maybe they switched writers? it happens also I totally would not mind seeing the leads together in a romance drama in the future. from the glimpses they've shown us? they have potential
there are these little scenes that show xueman being startled bc the constables and people in general are willing to cooperate with bei ming and not her and 🤣 I hope she figures out someday that its simply bc she's unpleasant (I like her aggy-ness btw) while he's nice.
