My only issue with the show is that when the leads are together it's the most boring part of the show. The temptation…
It probably wont because the drama sells itself as a romance genre not a political/historical. The synopsis basically states that it's an ordinary romance story about two persons who happened to fall in love during the turbulent period in May 1980.
This is what the director said during the press conference “The drama is set during a historical period, but it’s not the central part of the drama. It’s about universal emotions like love and joy and hate that were felt by the young people who were living at the time. This is what Geum Sae Rok said about the drama . "Hee Tae and Myung Hee’s emotions are a key part of the story" ( translation by soompi)
Maybe they will eventually focus on the historical setting once its nearing May 18 but the romance has always been the key part of this show.
There are alot of other shows and movies that covered the period and event extensively without the romance elements , so maybe those are what you are looking for.
I just saw complete video of leedohyun,he was so nervous that he couldn't find the stairs haha and he didn't expected…
he's such a chaotic mess lmao. Also loved seeing Shin Ha Kyun's proud smiling face when Dohyun mentioned him . So happy the two dongshiks received their well deserved awards (albeit for different shows lmao)
I do think the man from the begining is Hee Tae and he thinks the body discovered belongs to Myung Hee since he…
I agree with the possiblity that Myeong Hee managed to escape abroad but I do honestly believe that Hee Tae will end up dying.
This is a theory from a korean and i kinda agree with this person. Translated by google translate so it might not be 100% accurate.
"Myeong Hee will continue study abroad in Germany. Myung-hee symbolizes Gwangju itself, which stands as if it were oppressed and stood up like a field grass, and the sacrifice of Hee-tae is a symbol of Korea's belated apology"
Congrats Lee Dohyun for you well deserved baeksang's best new actor. Truly one of the best amongst the 20s actors. Excited to see what the future holds for you. Big screen debut next!!!
Also wanna see him in noir/crime/thriller genre. I know he'd do so well
Will Hee Tae reunite with his friend Kyung Soo during the uprising ? Like maybe he will be sent to gwangju by the military?? that would be real heartbreaking
What the hell is that Ep 5 preview...The leads will never be together??..I thought they will be atleast together…
no they will. There are certain scenes of them together from long preview that still havent appeared yet so they definitely will get back together somehow??
Altho they might end up dead still but that's another story
Also I actually understand why Hee Tae was so pissed tho ? He agreed to the blind dates not marriage?? (especially now when he already has someone he likes) . Suryeon's family is wealthier than Hee Tae's and his father is actually pretty nice as well. Suryeon can actually sit down and talk to his father and brother about her not liking him but instead she didn't . Now they cant back off because his father already made a business deal with Hwang ki trash .
Hee Tae never blamed her entirely too? He basically said to share the responsibility together and ask forgiveness/kneel together to their parents. But i guess he finally agrees to the marriage bcs Myeong Hee makes him do it .
I suggest you wait until it's completed lmao jk2! The comments here should help you decide whether you want to…
i didn't watch HDL bcs it's not my cup of tea but yeah he was so great in 18 again. Remembering how i sobbed hard till i got a headache bcs of him in that drama haha
I am not able to decide whether I should start it now or not .I loved ldh acting in 18 again a lotttt. He is tempting…

Lee Do Hyun is so greatttt here. It's his best performance so far personally. He showed wide range of emotions and shades in here. I find him so captivating and charming when he's on screen. I swear I am not bias lmao. I first saw him in 18 again too.
I actually liked this episode the most. This is what i signed up for. Melodrama tied up to historical event.
Finally got to learn about Hee Tae's trauma and it was heartbreaking. Altho I am initially a bit confused about the patients he was treating back in seoul since they didn't clearly address it. Turned out they were pro-democracy activists thats why they cant go to the hospital.
In this episode, i finally understand Suryeon's dilemma and struggle. She was trapped and I dont blame her at all. Although i actually hoped she'd tell her family that she didn't like him before they went ahead and did business with Hwang Kinam .
The last part was heartbreaking. Hee Tae is ready to move forward and put his trauma aside but get rejected instead.
I know their breakup is not gonna be long since there were dating scenes from the long preview that haven't appearead yet. The couple will get through this i believe at least before the real tragedy ( gwangju uprising) takes place
P.s I like the orphanage scene. It was so wholesome . From Hee Tae being a doctor , him interacting with kids to MyungHeetae moments. Adding Jung Tae and Myeong soo 's bonding moment too . They are cuteeee
hee tae acting all rude toward soo ryun like he didn't purposely kept quiet even if he knew the truth from the…
He initially agreed to the blind dates only not to the marriage. He told Suryeon in episode 3 that he'd give her 3 days to tell her family the truth and straight things up but she didnt?? Her family thought they liked each other so they went ahead and did business with Hwang Kinam.
Also he didn't blame her entirely?? He basically said let us take responsibility together and kneel/ask for forgiveness.
Tho i admit he's always a bit harsh on her when he's pretty nice and respectful towards everyone, including his trash father. Maybe he just doesnt vibe with her bcs he sees her as a bit hypocrite for reaping benefits from the gov whilst fighting for democracy. idk thats just the way i see it.
might be unpopular opinion but why is the ML so rude to soo ryun? Especially cause he went along with the lie…
He's trying to take the responsibility as well . Thats why he said let's take the responsibility together and ask for forgiveness/kneel to their family because they are in too deep.
He initially agreed to go on the blind date only not to the point of marriage but their family just went ahead making deal/ business and planning for their marriage bcs they thought they liked each other.

Honestly i just hope she doesn't do anything that could potentially sabotage the friendship. I am actually rooting for their friendship
