Saying someone did something "because it's their job" is a convenient excuse. If everyone acted in extremes, the world would implode yesterday. Humans have survived this long because we don't see things in black and white because we know the world itself is not black and white. In the face of adversity, we adapt by bending the truth, deceiving when necessary, and improvising. We bottle up our emotions and conceal our values until we're safe or our loved ones are out of harm's way. Those who bulldoze through life, guided solely by their "righteous" beliefs, without considering the impact on those who depend on them, are selfish and see others merely as extensions of themselves.
I’m sorry for the speech lol but this scene is particularly infuriating because it really shows how women were seen as pawns and assets, expected to bear the consequences of their spouse's ego. Its just unintentionally layered and if you’re gender/class conscious it really jumps in your face.
I just started watching this drama, and its good but I'm really frustrated with the head of the Hua family. I don't know how the story will unfold, but I need to vent. This guy is literally responsible for their downfall, all in the name of his so called 'fairness'. But what's the point of sticking to your principles when your entire family and the hundreds of people who rely on you have to suffer because of it? I can't respect that. There's a layer of toxic patriarchy mixed with selfishness here. A leader who can't protect both his family and his values isn't smart or wise. He's a clown. I hate him. And they're trying to portray him as a wise saint that the fl idolizes?? Give me a break, all he is is a narcissist. I really hope this drama will take a strong feminist stance and call out this bullshit.

I don't think that i've actually ever seen a high school drama where the leads are actual teens. when I was a teen all the high school dramas were played by people in their 20s and it didn't feel relatable.

I dropped it at ep 5 but picked it again and let me tell you, I was hooked. No skipping! (and let me tell you, I'm a skipper) This drama is filled with intrigue so you're left wondering all the time. Also the way they presented the themes of love, forgiveness and morality was very fresh and new. Overall, slow beginning but when you get passed it, its addicting.
