Hang on!! You guys do realize when they are shooting the drama, the music and songs are not decided yet. Music…
right! isn’t it obvious that the soundtracks were simply not available yet so they had to improvise. plus its traditional music, I bet it takes a while to produce
this is def an letdown for me too. I seriously thought there was going to be another court case after theirs or…
right?? QF gave him his blood and that was it. They were never to be seen together again. I think they were rushed and they cut out a lot. This drama needed an extra 5 episodes.
I went on douban to read the comments and people on there are so dramatic. Like aren’t you asking too much knowing your government is cracking down on all violence and heavy themes. “they don’t show enough oppression” “it lost its original character” go watch a rated movie if you want realism ; this is literally a romcom what did you expect?? Also, someone needs to give them a lecture on feminism.
LMAO! He and CP can hold hands; they're both whiny, annoying brats.
glad she left him otherwise they would be pushing the message that “mothers are all forgiving and doormats to their children” a bit too much for my liking
1. there were supposed to be a lot more kisses in this, like A LOT MORE. one of them is the boat petal kiss. that…
thanks for this! I think they also cut out the part where pan’er fell sick while he was gone? They kept mentioning that she almost died but I can’t seem to remember seeing her sick?
All done! I’m satisfied although they had to cut out some scenes because of the 40 episodes restriction. Like a lot of people have mentioned around episode 37 its a roller coaster until the end, so you have to follow closely. Overall the story came full circle and all the initial social issues/themes were addressed. My biggest let down was how they used OX as the final boss. OX is a opportunistic coward who descended into madness. But do you know what’s more cowardly than that? The writer dumping all the conflicts on a mentally ill loser shrimp to get the stpry over with.
I really liked how towards the end, we’re hit with plot twist that everyone at court is equally opportunistic from Xiao to Qi to the Queen. But then this plot twist didn’t go anywhere and every evil deed fell onto OX. OX the unstable shrimp. Again, not bad, it’s an expected satisfactory ending with some safe writing decisions. I’m still giving this a 10 regardless because this drama is more than a storyline.

I actually fell for CP's charm hihi 🫣. He's an idiot but oddly progressive for his time. Meanwhile that shitty 13 yr old called his mom a harlot, manipulated her whenever things didn't go his way and drove her to suicide. He deserves nothing booo *throws egg*
hands down THE most annoying person in this drama is sunniang’s bratty spawn. I wish they didn’t give him any redemption arc because he’s a child “and they don’t know better”. I also wish the writer was a bit more twisted and gave him a harsher fate. I’m sorry to mothers reading this, but he traumatized her, acted like a straight demon and showed little remorse. I know there’s this thing called, unconditional love, but to hell with it.
I already miss the cast and I’m not even done watching 🥲 this drama really hits the spot for lonely people. Now I understand why people watch 300 episode family sitcoms
There’s a lesson the writer is trying to teach throughout the whole drama. An important lesson that women have been teaching their daughters for hundreds of years and that lesson is that you ought not to put your eggs in one basket. Where the eggs is your autonomy + financial freedom and the basket a man. To be a liberated women in a society that doesn’t favour you, relying solely on a man is a gamble no one should take. A gamble clearheaded smart Pan’er took twice.
I saw a lot of people complain that the women in this drama rely on men therefore this drama is not good feminist representation. I disagree, this drama is a commentary on why women need liberation and autonomy. It’s filled with mistakes that lead to important lessons. It also shows that even smart women can fall for the sweet words of men.
