I agree with some of what you say but, for example, I'm not sure this drama is worth a 8.5 for me, and I love…
Thatâs where I agree to disagree. The rating system on mdl has been subject to debate many times. Many abuse of this privilege and make the rating system obsolete and unrepresentative of the quality of the drama. I thought over the issue many times, because many people claim everyone has the freedom to rate however they want. But in the end I realized that from a moral standpoint, I disagreed. Mdl is a community led website and at a minimum the community owes to the community a mindful reflection when rating. If youâre on mdl youâre part of a community so you have a responsibility. Everyone works together to make the website better and accurate, from editing to posting. Rating based on taste (ex. I donât like romance) and rating to promote idols is selfish and has no place in a community that actively works together to provide accurate information. If you want to give back to the community you need to at the very least have some criterias when rating.
Also when I say that I donât like people who rate based on taste, I mean people who know that they donât like a certain genre or trope. Personally when I come across a drama with a lot of angst (not my taste) I drop it, I donât rate it. I mark it as ânot my cup of teaâ and move on. I just donât get why people think taste has a place in a rating
Iâm sorry but thatâs just my opinion. I get really frustrated by immature idol fans and people who donât spare a thought when rating. Also I don't claim to be perfect iâm not a film critic, some of my criterias when rating are silly (like seratonin and headaches) but I actively try not to let my personal biases affect my rating.
The same people rating this lower than 8.5 would run to rate the most mediocre brain rotting idol drama a 10. But its normal, people are harsher critics when there's nothing to criticize. Also, if this drama was not as popular y'all wouldnt reach so much to find negative things to say. Its the individuality complex speaking. I also really hate when people rate on taste, this drama isn't claiming to be something that its not, its a chineses historical romance drama. Not a highly political drama, not a war drama, not a kdrama, not a supernatural drama. It has a lot of romance, business, slice of life, sisterhood. Its not fast paced, not action heavy, not overly complex and sometimes its purposely mundane. If it's not your cup of tea that doesn't mean that it's bad, just drop it. Be fair at least.
ironic how the fl is a scriptwriter but the actual script is of the drama is ass. fl and ml chemistry is nonexistent, wasted screen time on a crime plot that doesn't matter, love story with her ex has more screen time that it gave all the viewers second male lead syndrome, father-daughter relationship is barely explored. from the scriptwriter's profile it seems like this is her first work, and it shows.
i don't love YinZhang character but I can understand her. I mean the girl was always shielded way too much by…
immature but also insecure. did you see the scene where she throws a rock at her reflection in the water after she caught GQ and ZP hugging? I think itâs symbolism to show that she hates herself. sheâs deeply insecure because of her musician status so she overcompensates by boasting and looking for validation where she can get it. I also donât think dhe was coveting GQ, she admires him and wants his praise. sheâs a very well written character honestly
I think i'll stop here too, things are going south and it would be torture to have to wait for things to get resolved. (I say that but this drama is so good, I dont know if i'll be able to resist)
btw I really hope GQ and ZP will get married soon, marriage at the end of a drama is so overdone, plus I want to see their dynamic after marriage. But from the looks of it, it seems like we'll have a marriage ceremony for the finale
From todayâs episode we see that GXF is Minister Xiaoâs legal son. For the longest time I thought he was illegitimate.…
I'm almost certain that Xiao actually is the good guy, and was framed by GQ's "mentor" censor Xi. He and his fraction groomed GQ to be their perfect lackey. They brainwashed him and promised to give his mom a proper burial. The way Xi keeps delaying bringing Lei to justice is suspicious. My guess is, Minister Ke and censor Xi are on a team against Xiao and the Queen. GQ also clearly longs for his father too, in his dream he even said "you're not my father where's my father" to Xi.
Seems like Sanniang will be paired with Du but I wonder how the writer will make him more likeable to the audience considering he's been misogynistic. for now he's pretty icky imo
