I get the appeal and usually i'm the target audience for this genre but this didn't stick, I was on my phone half the time. I dropped it at ep 19. the rating is a bit generous for this one, its not a bad drama but it lacks some oomph

yep, but min gue's performance was spot on like the manhwa. bottom line, its a major casting issue. This role did not suit him. I wonder if they chose him because he's bilingual

yes!! I love him but surprisingly he really did not fit the role. I usually do not notice these things, but his performance here was not working for me.

I read the manhwa a long time ago so my memory is fuzzy but isn't this drama quite a bit different from the original work? I might be wrong but the ml character was different from the one I'm seeing, he was more brooding and imposing. And did she work as a food scientist? This just felt kinda unfamiliar.

edit: dropped after ep8. Leads have no chemistry and ml character was just dull and had no real presence. I think this drama had a lot of hype while it was airing but if you watch it after the hype died down, its honestly quite average. Read the manhwa.

right?? nepotism, violence, bullying, glorification of class division, privilege, the poor characters stayed poor because "they don't need money and they're humble" while the rich got richer, the ever so toxic bullyxbullied love trope etc. its sooo problematic in so many ways but I sure did enjoy watching this version. guilty pleasure 😭

this will be frustrating to watch if you're class conscious, they don't dig deep enough into the issues, its all surface level commentary. I expected more, but it's still a thousand times better than all the other bof's. I like it but I would've liked it even more if they digged a bit deeper. Again how can you make a 100% unproblematic adaptation of a problematic drama

to me this was extremely mid. you really need to have an interest in esports to really like this. my favourite part of this drama was the ml, love me an asshole turned best friend. I also like how flirty and playful he is

just finished it too and you're right the message was that everyone deserves empathy despite their shortcomings. of course, because I have mommy issues I disagree and hate it lol. Ling Xiao's mom deserves nothing, just a lifetime of therapy to overcome her narcissism

it was definitely for show but some moment were genuine. like the way sang yeob would go red at her advances? that's real. I think she's not his type bcs he's very conservative but doesn't show it and he's just her type in terms of looks and personality but she sees him as a friend. I just hope she finds love soon so she can start the family she's been wanting.

so there’s no redemption arc for these women? I’m on ep 3 and so far all the men are magnanimous heroes while the women are catty. even the female neighbours are negatively portrayed. there’s literally not ONE positive representation of womenhood lol. they even wrote the fl to be a tomboy. I mean its fine if thats the story, but holy shit does it stand out. since this is a slice of life and the lead is a female you would expect some empowering moments at least

I started crying from like episode 12 because I knew it was an open ending so it hurt me to watch every smile and kind words from the sweetest, loveliest ml to ever exist. I cried tears of melancholy, of heartache, of pity, of empathy, of grief and of jealousy (I want my own Wansen)
