Thoroughly enjoyed this! Really well casted too, even/especially Pi Han Ul - there's something very grounded and believable about the actor's portrayal of a webtoon villain. I neeeeed more shows like this with a gang of unique characters instead of focusing on just 2 main leads

First 2 eps were fun, definitely picking this up. One of the more novel dramas in a while. Neeed more action comedies

I followed the second half of R1SE's group career ever since they appeared on Chuang 2020, so it spoils the anticipation needed to watch survival shows unfortunately. I watch clips of C2019 here and there especially when there's an actor or soloist that catches my eye from other shows though! Zhang Yuan and Tiger Hu in CMBF3 and Li Yunrui most recently

I personally don't find any of the characters particularly charismatic or likeable, and there's nothing innovative or gripping about this show's format. But the writing is internally consistent and there's enough plot to keep me watching throughout, instead of scrubbing through 5 different random points of every episode - which is more than I can say for a lot of dramas I 'finished watching' recently. The high douban score is well-deserved I think

Compared to previous Chuang groups, Gen1ies definitely not getting the same amount of stages - but they're still way more active compared to 青你/YwY groups 🫠🫠

Started watching Chuang since 2020 (although I did drop last year's) so defo giving this season a go.

Honestly had zero interest in this show beforehand but absolutely watching on after the first episode which was done super well

There's enough going on to be engaging, but the writing is very much a Mary-Sue. Acting from the leads are not awkward at 2x speed even if a bit stiff - although lbr the voice actors are doing the heavy lifting. Would still watch this for a while more to fill up empty pockets of time, but probably one I'd drop halfway through

The ending song for the final few episodes was fire. Should have been used earlier for fight scenes imo

As a drama it's largely frivolous and ok if you don't sweat the details, but I'd really really love to play an RPG set in Dafeng

Song Mo's theme song has been replaying in my head - the one they used for the wedding and for the epic horseback kiss scene. The lyrics are also on point

Somewhere at the start of ep 5 Aqua and Akane had a convo about the difficulties of adapting Tokyo Blade's screenplay - but it was more like a meta-reference to address the adaptation of OnK's live action. They talked about how a lot of the baby/childhood scenes were cut and specifically pointed out how it wasn't possible to cast babies for the signature Amaterasu and wotagei scenes from the anime/manga

As someone who watched S1 of the anime, I found this really enjoyable! It's a fair adaptation of 2D to 3D - which they addressed in one of the episodes heh (side note I feel like ratings inflation on this site have hit all the K and C-dramas but haven't quite made its way to J-dramas - the current score of 7.8 is fair but a bit too harsh compared this to all the other 8++ C-dramas imo
