No wonder I was thinking of the same thing as I was reading through, like, what story exactly was I reading??? LOL! I guess I'm dropping this novel. I don't want to read a political disadvantaged women within a dysfunctional household until 100 chapters and not even have the time of my life with romantic details after that. heh.

for real??? i have chapter 20 under my belt and it seems like dz and sm still wouldn't meet until chapter 50?? it does seem rather draggy to read. I'll try some more chapters and see if it's up to my taste, but thank you for your insight! It's good to know what I'm signing myself up to.
Btw, In the novel sm still ends up living and the emperor still gives up on the cure to give it to sm? When I was watching the drama I really thought that it was going to be a bittersweet ending and I almost didn't finish it because I dislike such endings. That's why I usually choose chinese dramas that I've read, or know that the ending would be worth it. Dying main characters seems like a big waste of time. One of the reasons why I didn't like Pearl Girl or did I even read the novel, I watched it for the main leads but was baffled by the end. I usually watch dramas to make myself happy or go on an emotional ride but know that everything is still going to end on a good note. Real life is already too much heartache, I don't like my dramas to be the same. 😅

i was expecting there would be more details in the novel compared to the drama.. i would like to know comparisons just to weight my options. i really love reading novel versions because of character and setting details which are missed out on dramas. I am expecting major differences just like the rest of the dramas I've read so far. ie - prisoner of beauty, rise of ning, love like the galaxy... etc. if the differences are same as from these dramas, I think I'm still going to read it. 😆

ikr??? I wanted to see more of him in the palace too. but I still like his choice and his attitude towards life even from the beginning so he's not really a good match for DZ because she's the epitome of emotion and life while he's the complete opposite. I guess that's why they're just meant to be teacher and discipline until the end. 🥹
I don't think Jiyong has feelings for Dou Zhou, she is just the first person he loved. Sometimes when you feel…
I like Ji Yong as he knows what he wants but also knows when to set limits and let go. He may be scheming but he never schemed his love for DZ. He was genuine with her despite him not feeling anything "emotions" or having lack of "empathy" from the get go. I like his complicated character and would love to read more into the novel about him. It feels like the drama had cut short his character or downsized it since he's pretty much complex. Plus the translation doesn't give justice to the main context of the dialogues he had with DZ.
the four generals actually didn't exist in the novel too
Wei Liang did though, and he didn't die in the novel but was just gravely injured. I thought that was the same case in the drama and still had my hopes up until his body was found. ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜

Yeah, I saw the convo and immediately reported it. I usually ask people about the spoiler tag too and haven't encountered anyone rude enough to be reported yet. I feel bad for you though you had to go through that type of convo with someone who can't really understand.

Hello! I just wanted to let you know you can directly report the comment and use the "spoiler" tag in the report so you don't have to waste time arguing with people who don't understand simple online ethics. I did report it already though. ðŸ¤

I remember seeing Lee Jae Wook as a minor role in Memories of Alhambra and thought "This guy would definitely make it in the industry" and he did and I'm so freaking proud of him. Same with Kang Yoo Seok, he's got so many roles under his belt but is always side-casted. I'm so happy for him that he landed 2 major breaks this year. He deserves it.
Totally agree ! The novel’s hella 18+ and wild, but this drama made him more human—less beast . And our girl?…
I cannot agree even more!!!! I was wondering the whole time how they're going to tame ML and his carnal desires. Lol!!! For all novel readers, we knew how those explicit scenes happened. ðŸ¤ðŸ˜†
Finally seeing LY again and he aint gonna die this time around!!!! So excited for this drama even though it is waaaaay different from the novel, I'm still happy to watch it as it is.
