"... promoted safe sex" Society/media has a curious fascination with transforming gay storylines into a public…
I'm confused about what you are taking issue with. Have you watched the series Bed Friend? I liked how in the series they go to get tested for STDs. I'd be happy to see this in straight romances as well because it is very rarely shown. I disagree that BL has a huge over representation, I can think of less than 20 series/movies that show condom use/STD checks out of hundreds that I've watched. Are you taking an issue with me using the term "safe sex"? I used it as a more general term (not just condom use). I'll update my review to be more specific and say that I liked how they got tested for STDs.
Your paragraph of "take the "safety" messaging to its ultimate conclusion" does not make sense to me, I think it's a combo of Straw Man and Slipper Slope https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/general_writing/academic_writing/logic_in_argumentative_writing/fallacies.html Yes life is a risk and people take steps to keep themselves safe like wearing a seat belt when driving or...getting checked and treated for STDs. How would chain mail prevent an allergic reaction to peanuts? Though again those who have severe allergies generally have epi pens so they can survive and not die from anaphylactic shock.
It's not that unrealistic that nobody cared to check on a guy laying on the ground. Japanese are very tolerant…
Thanks for the info, I updated my review - where I live if someone in a suit was laying in the middle of a street/sidewalk like that, someone would have stopped to check.
I'm still wandering where ir Kenta and that kiss with Pete. I feel rush the ending and too many questions without…
Yes, the ending was rushed, I wonder if they were/are planning a season 2??? The series certainly had its flaws many of which could have been fixed (i.e. moving a location of an injury in the final episode so the result made sense as 1 example), but I did really enjoy it which is why I gave it an 8.5 for the uncut version and 8 for the cut.
Hyun wrote that note that fell out of his diary because when he read it at 8:05 it says it's to Dongho (at first I thought Dongho had snuck it in and it was the first time Hyun was reading it). In the present, Hyun crossed off the last 2 lines and then wrote out the rest. So his running back may not have actually happened because why wouldn't he have updated the note back then? But then at the end it's implied that Dongho entered the book shop and Hyun says "you're here, you're late." The title of this episode is "the words I couldn't say" which makes it seem that he didn't actually confess back then but the series is called "Happy Ending." So I really don't know. I think they could either be just friends in the present or boyfriends, up to viewer interpretation
The school priest’s insistence on forgiveness is a realistic portrayal of how some religious settings operate.…
The priest's insistence on forgiveness might be realistic but I still did not like it (I didn't take off points for that though). Yes, I agree with the rest of your points, there was some lazy writing/things happened "because the writer said so".
In History Right of Wrong, the teacher "waited" for the student to turn 18 (become an adult). Seems we have the…
The university student was 19 when they met and the mom made the professor wait until he was 20. That's still morally/ethically wrong, but the student was an adult.
In Before Twilight, P'Aof mentioned he and the staff did extensive research into living with visual impairments…
thanks for the information, I'll update my review - I still think Day could have easily gone to another country and not waited 3 years but tons of stuff in drama are made up so I didn't take off points for it
I'm a little bit confused as to why you're focused on the age of majority instead of the age of consent? Article…
I think it's smart for production companies to hire actors who have reached the age of majority (which is 20 in Thailand) because otherwise parents might give permission but then see the final product and revoke that permission (this has actually happened)
Great review! I agree with you on Pai's character development. I did prefer the aroace representation in the Japanese…
I'm actually reading the manga now and Pai's character does major fangirling so this adaptation is actually sticking closer to the source material but I did like that they removed this from the Japanese live action adaptation, we'll see where they go with her character
