Here are just a few things about the novel you might want to know. I haven't read it but a few of my friends have.
- Some may be wondering why Tantai Jin as the Demon God didn't stop Li Susu from going back 500 years in time. He clearly saw her, and what she was doing, but he just stood there, watching as she went back in time to kill him. As a being deemed to be the Demon God from birth, he is emotionless and has never experienced what truly being loved and cared for feels like. He understands that in order to be killed, he'd have to fall in love with the person who kills him. So he is essentially making a bet with himself, will he finally get to experience the feeling to truly be loved this time?
- In the novel, Susu has a magical weapon called Gou Yu, gifted to her by her mother. Sadly, it got cut from the drama. What makes this even worse is that Gou Yu was the one accompanying Susu through all the torturous days under the later Tantai Jin's torment. Awww I can't imagine how she's going to endure all this weapon her friend and weapon Gou Yu :((((.
Also, quite frankly, this novel went a bit overboard at times, imo. Tantai Jin did some...quite questionable things. I guess you can see why, considering the fact that he is destined to be the Demon God, but Li Susu really suffered here.
All I know right now is that I will definitely be resorting to Love is Sweet to quell my tears and treat that drama as their sweet modern reincarnation.
If this isn't the best Xianxia drama of 2023, is it one of the best. I'm so happy I started this drama even when it wasn't high priority for me when they announced the show.
