Donghee dating era started and oh boy did it deliver. It is one of the most adorable and kilig "we are dating…
oh i am not sorry, but i was using what term came to mind and i have heard it so often before. Plus i needed something stronger than just "cute" to describe the absolute joy this kdrama couple/lead actors give me. I hope i have used it accordingly haha
I'm so glad the writers didn't have the FL agree to sacrifice her love for the mother ghost. I'm glad it was resolved…
"Those words, you don't need to listen to them. No need to worry, no need to be upset, because you're all I need. I will only make you smile."
THIS MAN. THIS GODDAMN MAN. Greenest flag in kdramaland 😭 😭 😭 And same here. I looooooove how supportive they are, steadfast in their love, how they reassure each other. Their understanding for each other without words, but they still use them to share their concerns, their feelings, everything, with honesty and kindness. They raised my standard so so so high for kdrama couples, ngl. (Also with DJ going on a business trip for two days, how will the man survive 🤣)
woah, i need to take a deep breath because this episode had everything and i mean EVERYTHING. Episode 11 thoughts…
Donghee dating era started and oh boy did it deliver. It is one of the most adorable and kilig "we are dating now montages i have ever seen in a kdrama. Like, Taehee told Dongjoo that he wants to be happy with her, and this guy basically shapeshifts into a golden retriever around her from there on out. He is so happy and attentive toward her, waits for her to get off work to give her flowers because "she is so pretty", drives her home, goes grocery shopping, picks her persimmons (not ripe but he tried lmao) from the tree early in the morning, and always ALWAYS holds her hand. He really puts focus on that and i love him for this. Oh, small detail i noticed: The passing of time is a bit sped up because we have now begin of october now in the drama (which has further implications to which i get later down the line.) So they probably dated for around two weeks and we only see snippets of it during that montage. They constantly text each other, wait for each other to come out etc super wholesome.
Anyway, somehow i knew once he lets loose, there is no stopping Taehee, because this man is so so so so so disgustingly gooey in love with Dongjoo and it is the best, sweetest thing. For example she sent him a pic of the flowers he gifted her and she is visible in the mirror snapping it, So he zooms in on her in the pic, ignoring the flowers and looks at her with the happiest/dreamiest expression. He also calls the cans he is recycling pretty before throwing away while giggling. We lost him on cloud number nine, yall xD
There is so much heart, humor, sweetness and light in the first part of the episode before it gets more somber again and the plot takes up speed. The situational humor is done so perfectly because it is based on the characters in this show, not randomness. Hence we have Taehee meeting Hae an in the grocery and it cracks me up seeing him feeling so so bad because we last saw HA crying and cursing out "the bastard that DJ likes." that he ends up paying for HA's things xD TH also is scared to no small amount of Hae An finding out they are dating. It cracked me up so much.
The uncles develop a competitive streak with each other along the lines and the greatest joy to torture their niece and nephew and keeping them busy and away from their planned date. Ofc they KNOW they are dating (it is just fun to them pretending not to) even when Donghee try to be very covert with holding hands under the table. THEY KNOW and they enjoy every second of it xD
The way TH wants to go on a date w/ DJ every day, and goes at length to meet/see her (waiting for her at the bus stop to walk her home while holding hands etc) i am weak. Best boyfriend. Sora cracked me up with her open hostility toward him at first bc he didn't leave the best impression thru what DJ told her about him. Her friends being the first to officially get to know they are dating is so fitting and sweet. I love that she has a wider support system.Lmao at TH asking her if he should come in to reveal it together. Let her have some gurlfriend time u goober xD
Lmao at TH running into Dongjoo's dad and when talking to him called him "father" by accident. The way he slaps his mouth at the end🤣 But ofc DJ's father is such a loving, bright character that he even was happy being called that by TH. This is a future son/father in law combination match made in heaven tbh.
I really like how they handled Chungha in this episode. Outside of one scene where her mom sees Donghee living their best life, their story line is apart from the leads... until it converges back together. that is, which is done so very well narratively. It feels final, like closure for CH and i am happy to see it, even if it comes with her mother's death (she is free of her now, yay) and the regrets of her harsh last words toward her. I didn't get much of what CH's mom said to DJ in the parlor but it feels it wasn't nice, because in the end TH gives Dongjoo words of reassurance and apologizes for her having to hear a lot of things she should not have. "None of this matters. No need to worry, no need to be upset, because you're all I need. I will only make you smile." THIS MAN. THIS GODDAMN MAN. Greenest flag in kdramaland 😭 😭 😭
Their support and understanding for each other, i am WEAK. They raised the standard for kdrama couples so so HIGH for me. Taehee didn't go to pay respect to evil almost MIL at first, since he was not keen to run into CH, but DJ reassured him that if it is because of her that he does not need to hold back. And that maybe he should go so he does not regret it later on. TH thinks about her words and decides to go to pay his respect after all. There is this one scene i find particular striking, where they meet in the hallway of the funeral hall and there is no dialogue, just silent understanding, care and support for each other. It encapsulates everything which makes this couple so special. The deep deep understanding without even needing words. And in general with all this happening (he knew the mom for a long time after all), Dongjoo is such a ROCK for TH and he gives back in equal amounts in adoring the ground she walks on. Their relationship is so healthy and loving and mature alike, because they talk about everything, they share everything. They are part in each other's lives every step of the way. I'm 😭 😭😭
And of course, shit is about to go down. The reason for the small time skip is the death anniversary of TH’s little brother coming up and his family comes into the city for that at first. I love that through Dongjoo and making strides on his way to heal, he is not holding back his emotions any longer, even if it is to cry, like it was with sitting next to his granny on the bank outside of his apartment. To further heal, he needs to stop avoiding his family too, though I don’t appreciate her pressuring him to be a doctor again. It should only up to TH and he already said he does not want to, end of story. Like can you imagine him having to work in the hospital where his brother died? Where he failed to save him? Uff. His halmoni is so sweet and caring otherwise so I can’t dislike her, she only means well. Tho the comment toward DJ regarding her job was also not the best 😬i am up for more family bonding of course, so i hope to see more of DJ's dad and TH's fam with him reconciling with them in the end.
l love how it all comes together now. It is narratively so well structured. DJ sees a picture of Joonho and knows he is the kid she met first and ran away from. The accident driver is indeed Hae An’s brother, so the theories of him losing valuable time to save TH’s brother were correct bc he saved his brother first. And HA gets to know the kid is through finding a photo of him and taehee (the same photo you see first briefly in eps 5 and then again how it is taken in eps 8’s opening btw, which is such a great detail) OUCH, it is angst double whammy time tomorrow with all coming to light. Quite anxious how the talk will go between TH/DJ, but given how much in love TH is with DJ and her coming clean IMMEDIATELY I am very hopeful they will work it out, together. They always did, thus far, which is why I adore them so much.
woah, i need to take a deep breath because this episode had everything and i mean EVERYTHING. Episode 11 thoughts under the spoiler tag (where are my fellow commenter at?)
Not him feeling guilty (but this time in a cute way) meeting Hae An in the convenience store, because he actually is "the bastard who Dongjoo likes" 😂 😂 😂 Taehee has such high golden retriever energy in this episode, and here it is of one who peed on the carpet or destroyed the sofa pillows 🤣
Unsurprisingly, Taehee turned out to be the greenest flag ML and best boyfriend. So far he has:
- emphasized how he wants to be happy with DJ and held her hand the whole time. Distracted her to give her a peck on the cheek. - Surprised her with waiting in front of her working place for her to get off work, because "he missed her" and brought her flowers just "because she is so pretty", and drove her home. - got up early to pick FRUITS for DJ from a tree at their house. So extra, so cute.
And we are not even 10 minutes into the episode. I just can't with the adorableness of this man who thought any love/emotion was over for him but now JUMPS at the opportunity to be affectionate and loving because of meeting and knowing Dongjoo changed all of that. 🥺🥺🥺🥺
The love triangle is so unnecessary and annoying in this drama. There's already so much going on with Kim Bom…
DB and the kids also preferred to play with the dog than dealing with her last episode xD I don't blame them, bc this woman knows no other flavor than SOUR. As an introvert, she exhausts from just watching her, because i know these types of people. Always mired in misery and/but make others responsible for it, drain your energy faster than you can yell "social battery" because they drag everyone down around them to wallow in their negativity along with her. And only they know what is best, they do not give a single damn about about the feelings and opinion of others bc you/they are not smart enough "to understand." Also manipulative/gaslighting. Typical energy vampire, tbh. Run as fast as you can if you ever come across one irl
Taehee, sulking: "I want to eat dinner with you"Dongjoo: (But) your uncle wants you to come in quickly.Taehee,…
Oh here is the full scene, btw. I can't stop laughing at the uncles' sudden appearance and their dual"why are you like this/not get out (of the car)?" 😂:
Taehee is a big sulky baby because he doesn't want to part with Dongjoo yet after driving her home😆https://twitter.com/adorejunyoung/status/1600304173454884865
Taehee, sulking: "I want to eat dinner with you" Dongjoo: (But) your uncle wants you to come in quickly. Taehee, even more sulky: "And I want to watch a movie with you :(((((" Dongjoo: "Should we watch it at midnight, then? Taehee, perks up: "Should we (go) ? Dongjoo: *nods* Taehee, happy again, checks for tickets: "Then let's buy... at what time/the time...."
Look at him being clingy bc he now has a girlfriend that lets him voice and heeds his needs/wishes, asdfggjkdjg. They are totally gonna kill me dead with their cuteness, aren't they? 😆 Also they totally dropped the honorifics with each other, in case you are wondering 😏
i like our main leads, and bom, but can't stand everyone else. none of the villagers are very likeable.
i like the yellow-haired dude by now. He is very extra but actually cares a lot for the people around him. Has redeemed himself after being such an ass to YR
I agree with you they are so adorable:) Can you recommend me dramas with green flag ML I haven’t seen a lot…
It is from the also currently airing drama "May I Help You", which is very wholesome (if sad at times) too, highly recommend.
Green Flag ML's from dramas I have seen:
- May I Help You (ML is kind, goes the extra mile for people, high emotional intelligence/empathic and good good communication skills. Expressive, cares a lot and is always super bothered when FL is upset that he has to fix whatever he did wrong asap to feel at peace again xD Distant at times, which is due to trauma. Leads are adorable af together and help each other healing. Wholesome ML is wholesome: https://www.tiktok.com/@dont_sue_rebecca/video/7156777377773653294?is_copy_url=1&is_from_webapp=v1 https://www.tiktok.com/@dont_sue_rebecca/video/7164643836675788075?is_copy_url=1&is_from_webapp=v1) -Love In Contrast (not the best drama but GYP is adorable as introvert oddball ML and his face journeys when FL does something are hilarious. Very caring about FL in his own ways. Has infuriating SML tho) -Cheer Up (ML is so wholesome and such a good bf to FL, but alas the drama is terribad and a shitshow writing-wise. Just watch the haewoo romance scenes/shorts on youtube or tiktok instead. SML is super infuriating too) -Extraordinary Attorney Woo (Do i need to elaborate? ML is green green flag but personally i find him too flat a character. There is no spiiiiiiice/depth to him other than "kind") From Now On Showtime- Not the greenest flag at first glance as he is your resident tsundere and a big sulky baby/arrogant jerk at first but such a soooooftie and good caring cinnamon bun underneath all the bluster haha. Hilarious too and has such a satisfying character development over the course of the drama) The Law Cafe (the leads have a mature relationship build upon communication, trust and consent, very loving too. ML goes at length for FL all thru the drama) If You Wish Upon Me (Not the easiest drama watch as it takes place in a hospice that fulfills the last wishes of its patients and due ML being an abuse survivor, but all through this he remained the kindest soul and his romance with FL is so pure. Also Ji Chang Wook is so excellent in this role. Tearjerker, though) Love All Play (Didn't like this drama as it veered into weird makjang family wangst halfway through and is waaay too gloomy for a teen/tween sport drama then, but ML is wholesome)
