Stumbled over The King's Affection in my Netflix feed last year and thought oh this looks interesting. And here i am, a year and over a 100 kdramas later lmao
i recently just finished Hospital Playlist and i just find it so-so. it's not bad, but it's not great either for…
yeeeeah, i found MDL rating very often does not comply with my understanding of a great, must see drama. The last experience i had with that was Move To Heaven. According to MDL the best kdrama ever made and with such a moving, sad, groundbreaking story you never stop crying, or something. Like it was nice and is a well-made and watchable drama sure, but i found its blantant "YOU HAVE TO BE SAD NOW" moments way too overboard, formulaic and not as natural like in other shows of its kind. So i ended up just being mildly entertained and moved, while other kdrama had (Tomorrow, MPUB) or have (If You Wish Upon Me, i am looking at you) a greater impact on me.
Anyway, i digress... my point is the highly rated are often the ones i end up not liking as much and of the popular ones i only like a few and ended up dropping or being bored by a lot of them. In the end the rating means jackshit as it comes down to your individual, personal enjoyment (or not) of them. One thing i learned in my year on being on MDL is that it is best not to give a damn about the ratings and simply try out the drama you are interested in for yourself to see if you like it or not. Most of the ones i ended up enjoying are the ones that got ignored by a large part of MDL (From Now On Showtime, for example), or what you would call "hidden gems."
I am watching Flower Of Evil atm, which is an odd one out for me as i usually don't seek out serious dramas but Big Mouth was great (so far) so i was drawn to it. So far (eps 10) i agree with the high ratings, but that can still change lol as kdramas tend to flounder in the last few eps. Slice of Life like HP or Reply 1988 which also collects dust in my PTW list really need a certain mood and commitment to watch and so they will probably collect another layer of proverbial dust till i get to it. I just have too many other good kdramas to watch, lol. Gonna push PPB up my to watch next list then, tho.
lol HP is pretty accurate bc it needs a certain mood to watch and also every episode is so damn long, so i never got around to it yet. And all these highly rated thrillers like Mouse etc bc i always take a left turn before picking a serious drama like that and watch something light with romance instead lol.
I can't anymore, I'm currently on the episode 6 but I already feel exhausted.. There are so many depressed characters,…
I was in the same position like you months ago when I tried watching it. And episode 6 was also the point where I was asking myself wtf this even is. I still pushed through till episode 11 and gained nothing. So spare yourself the time and trouble and move on, bc it doesn't get any better, nor do the characters do anything different than complaining, moping and eating lmao.
As an introvert myself I expected to relate to the characters a lot but instead I came off the show thinking they are just depressed miserable people in dire need of therapy counseling and AA meetings.
I have put it on hold for now, for the sole reason that i am busy with other dramas atm and so i am able to binge the last 3 eps next week back to back, hehe
This drama is basically "fake to real dating, the story" haha. (It is more complex than this, i know, but i just love the journey of Lee Jung Hoon from "nope, let's never meet again " over "I need to protect her from harm nothing more" to ".... whoops i am in love" 😁)
The genre "fantasy" is missing, tbh. Because i am led to believe that Moon Ga Young is ugly just because she wears some glasses and has (fake) "bad skin"? HAH, sure, nothing more fantastical than this, tbh.
Anyway, I am a bit on a MGY drama binge so i throw it on my soon to be watched pile, hehe.
Even though it's full of cliches and cheesy lines, it's so fun to watch that I don't even mind. I wish more episodes…
I would have suggested From Now On Showtime and maybe Cafe Minamdang in regards of similar crime/investigation comedy ratio, but I have seen you already have both covered lol.
It’s seen a year since I watched it and cannot get over it. Can someone share something similar ? I’ve already…
Try the current airing Big Mouth if you haven't already. Main leads are also a married couple uncovering the truth on different fronts. Drama is quick paced (outside of introductory eps 1) and has enough twists and turns to keep you guessing. Just stay away from the MDL comment section until you caught up, since it is a spoiler minefield.
I think it was because it became unbearable for him to further fake it when he loved her for real. Plus it wasn't…
Yeah, the two first episodes kinda hint that she has feelings for him but isn't aware of them at all/in the process becoming aware. Hence why it looked or even was for FL just friends back then, since she is oblivious af regarding her feelings. Which led to ML ending it as he didn't want to keep up the charade.
So I guess it is the classic idiots in love trope where each of the other think the opposite person would never have romantic feelings for them xD Lots of assumptions, misunderstandings and (mutual) pining that could be solved if they were straightforward with each other one single time. But both think the other does not love them, so they never try. Hence, idiots in love 🤣
My K-drama 💕💕 started with rom-com (Cinderella/4 Knights) and for the most part ends at rom-com, although…
Sun Woo has definitely caught feelings by now, but is still bathing in the river of denial hahaha As for se-ra I even don't know, but she is drawn to him. So I guess we have to wait a little longer for the first smooch 😁
Oh the Cinderella drama. I just watched it a couple of weeks ago and gosh it was as clichéd as it could ever be but not the fun cliché kind like this drama here. But at least it introduced me to JIW so it wasn't a complete loss lol.
Good chemistry, strong FL, not really understood why he broke up at first since he accepted to date her, why the…
I think it was because it became unbearable for him to further fake it when he loved her for real. Plus it wasn't real for her, nor did he see her struggle to keep up the pretense, so it was overall just too much for him to continue it in the end.
I still can't believe everything happened in the same episode like DAMNNN.Soon-tae was literally the second in-command…
Yeah. Bit underwhelming, especially with how fast they came and went (6 feet under) but BM's identity makes sense narrative-wise, all things considered.
