idk why, the show is so stupid and the story all over the place, but still fun to watch? I seriously need to turn off any critical thinking or need for logic while watching tho, but generally as long the characters entertain me, and they do, i don't mind the mindless fun in between more (plot)heavier dramas, tbh.
Prayer circle for Jung Ji Woo picking up a good script for once in the future, bc i would love to see what he can do when not held back by bad writing. (also note to self to watch Bossam one of these days)
The kettle 🤣 Finally a love triangle i can fully support and enjoy.
Joke aside, wow so much happened in episode 8 and once more the do not cry challenge has failed. As an owner of a senior cat of 14 yrs, having to say goodbye to a beloved pet hits very close to home and what is what i dread having to do in hopefully not (!!!) near future too. Same for the dementia subplot... i work with/visit care facilities to take ppl with dementia out for walks etc and it is always sad to see them forgetting more and more over time. The romance subplot continues to be squee-inducing with its realistic/natural dynamic and progression. Seo Yeon Joo is the biggest troll and i love her for this, hahaha. She really knows how to get YGR out of his comfort zone and to open up. She reads him so well and I love their open communication, banter and teasing with their chaos wrapped up in wholesomeness so much. So i hope the doom at the horizon does not overstay its arrival. It was never welcomed in the first place, tbh.
It is rare to see the female character/SFL being the toxic/abusive one tbh, but ofc they exist irl, so it is good for the drama to show this. My sympathy for her went downhill after that flashback, but i still hope she gets the help she needs. But pls very very far away from Gyeo Re, so he can complete the "being happy for more than 5 minutes tops" challenge. I just want him to be happy and safe, okay?😭
So finished it and if I were to only rate the relationship/character development and romance it would be a 10/10 for me, no questions asked. One of the best, most adorable, affectionate and wholesome kdrama couples that ever have graced my screen. But the plot in the last episodes maaaaan, this ploooot. I hate it when the story forces the characters to make stupid decisions that they would not have done otherwise just to make stuff happen. A lot of it, especially in the last 3-4 episodes can be categorized under "this shit would have never happened if you all just stayed with your ass at home."
But i guess this doesn't make for a good drama and also creates a glaring lack of angst which this show lived off in the last episodes. I skipped a lot of the sob scenes that while well-played by the actors, were brought by its characters acting utterly stupid and illogical, and so the whole disappearance arc etc was more frustrating than angsty.
Still, that aside, i adored the realistic, mature approach to the question "what happens if two very different people marry too quickly?" and how their relationship was written with all its up and downs. The chemistry between the leads, the many cute scenes of their married life inclusive natural, affectionate skinship, and the often witty situational humor made me smile over both ears. Thus i am more than willing to forget about the plot/writing inconsistencies due to the pure joy the leads and their romance brought me the past 16 hours. (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧ 8.5/10
Argh.. Can't people just watch the darn show without comparing it to any others they've watched? Of course you'll…
That is a nice idealistic theory, only works if you watch only a singular drama or even consume just one piece of media of its kind and no other that is similar in any way, so you have no points of reference or comparison. Lol, sorry if you feel like i insulted a fave of yours by naming others i liked more, but comparison and contrasting similar pieces of media is what people do when/after consuming them since AGES. You are free to dislike it, but it is what it is, especially when you have already watched, in this case, a lot of kdrama before, like i have.
Besides, that is the whole point of the recommended section of each drama here on MDL... to find similar dramas to the one you just watched, because there are, if you like it or not, always a lot. So it sounds more like a you problem, tbh ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
THEY ARE THE CUTEST MARRIED KDRAMA COUPLE I AM SCREAMING AAAAAAH. (;´༎ຶД༎ຶ`) ~(˘▾˘~) (ღ˘⌣˘ღ)
No, honestly i love the development of their relationship and the many many many scenes of married life between them to bits. The chemistry between the leads just screams comfortable intimacy/deep love #married, and whenever LJH is complainy-cute to get his drama wife's attention, my heart goes aww. His character is so whipped and he portrays it so well, hahaha. Plus this drama actually shows or rather implies a couple being intimate often and really (sexually) attracted to each/into each other for once, instead of rendering the leads to blushing teenagers that are even scared of holding hands. And the former is, sadly, still all too rare, unlike the latter.
The innocence of kdrama is part of its charm, I get it, but i find it even less realistic when grown ass people, i in a relationship are scandalized by holding hands or *gasp* a kiss ngl. Tangent aside, here to approach it in a more mature way really fits the characters, their story and development. Their dynamic is so well done, mature and cute as hell, even while they navigate the many difficult parts of their relationship. Because all comes from the place of them WANTING to be together, to make it work. Fate be damned. The time travel is really just a backdrop to tell their story and bring them together, instead of the other way around. It is all about them, or rather the indepth examination of their relationships and characters, and i love that.
Holy cow he is so different from in Taxi Driver Impressed by his acting 👏
I have yet to watch TD, but this drama is/was the first where i came across Lee Je Hoon and i am super impressed by his range, especially in emotional scenes. He is so different in Move To Heaven too, but also great.
i think it's simply because you were too hyped and had high expections due to the huge popularity cuz it's definetely…
Possible, since it is sold as THE drama on MDL and... yeah that is not it (for me) Tho the second point comes down to personal taste/is subjective. Because imo the writing is solid yet nothing special, and as said, i like the other dramas i named having dealt with the same/similar topic/themes simply better/more. But it is fine if you think otherwise, of course.
I really like seeing Won Ji An on screen because of her acting, but at the same time I don't want her character…
Yeeeeeah, on the one hand i am like... go away but on the other i want her to find happiness and heal from her past too that is independent of YGR. I just hope the narrative won't vilify her as she is as much a victim of her upbringing/circumstances as YGR is.
But i also get why he is does not want anything to do with her anymore, after what happened between them last. Hence why i hope they can both find closure and happiness independent of each other. They are not good for each other and i hope she also learns to understand that.
Why do I have a feeling we’re gonna get a sad ending
i dunno, i feel it is much more the story of healing and moving on than tragedy, doom and death. which is often part of the former. But i think its narrative is about the journey to betterment, closure and reaching it in the end, so imo a bad/sad ending is unlikely/unsuited for the drama's themes. Doesn't mean we are not going to bawl our eyes out getting there, though xD
I really love dramas which make me laugh, only to bawl my eyes out in the next moment and then back to smiling and aww-ing over/with the characters. It is a rare breed such a drama, but IYWUM definitely belongs in this category and i love it a lot for giving me emotional whiplash in the best way haha. (Can't believe i waited so long to pick it up, since i thought it was melo-heavy only)
Probably a mixture of childhood trauma, willful ignorance and plot convenience. Though it is easy for us viewers…
Yeeees, i am all caught up now and ready for the new episodes. It is gonna get spicy regarding his whole bg to Tae Shik 👀
I also love his noticeable development in him finding purpose in helping the people around him, and a place to belong. Like, i always want to wrap such unfortunate soft cinnamon roll characters in a blanket and give them a hot cacao while telling them it is gonna be alright, ngl haha.
Finished it now and my first impression did not last. I still think that Move To Heaven is a well-watchable drama, but not the masterpiece MDL makes it out to be. Through its episodic format it really lacks in depth regarding the characters and their development. It feels static in places and tries too hard to make you saaaad, imo. I was not really feeling it most of the time. Sang Gu has a relatively good character arc and has become a fave of mine in the end... but all the other characters remain pretty much the same they were in the beginning. I also feel the way autism is portrayed is lacking, too stereotypical with the actor portraying his character too robotic/lifeless, almost. (Not to compare it to PEB, but in EAW you always saw her emotions/inner conflict etc reflected in her expression, even if she struggled to express them. They are both on a very different acting lvl of course, yet i cannot help to notice it with this character and his very monotonous portrayal.)
I think the highlight of the drama is episode 5 with the gay couple since it was so tragic with its missed chances and the death so unfortunate. Definitely worth watching for this alone and a few other stories that (lightly) touch upon issues in society such as euthanasia and xenophobia. it It is respectful regarding death, allows room for its characters to grieve and celebrates life, but i feel it mashes the "YOU HAVE TO BE SAD NOW" button for the viewers way too often. So no, i think like EAW, Move to Heaven is a good drama, but not the masterpiece ppl make it out to be.
But that is just me, of course haha. Personally, I like the currently airing "If You Wish Upon Me", Tomorrow and Mystic Pop Up Bar more that are also about stories about people/social issues in its core and helping them to heal and move on. I think MTH would have made and left more an impression on me if i had watched it before these other dramas, but watching it in the order i did those are more memorable to me tbh than this show, sorry not sorry.
nice to see you joining in on this drama! I've had Move To Heaven on my watchlist for the longest time (but put…
Yeeees, hiiiii <3 Always nice to meet you again in a comment section haha. I regret that i have waited for so long to pick it up tbh, as it is really up there with Tomorrow and MPUB for me, atm. Which are both dramas that make you cry and sad but also are light and hopeful when they need to be. And i made the mistake to think that IYWUP was a heavy melo only when it is in truth very much in line with those two dramas. And the romance/dynamic between the leads, goooosh, i love it. It gives me big biiig Chaseul vibes and i am so here for this haha.
