Finished it now and my first impression did not last. I still think that Move To Heaven is a well-watchable drama, but not the masterpiece MDL makes it out to be. Through its episodic format it really lacks in depth regarding the characters and their development. It feels static in places and tries too hard to make you saaaad, imo. I was not really feeling it most of the time. Sang Gu has a relatively good character arc and has become a fave of mine in the end... but all the other characters remain pretty much the same they were in the beginning. I also feel the way autism is portrayed is lacking, too stereotypical with the actor portraying his character too robotic/lifeless, almost. (Not to compare it to PEB, but in EAW you always saw her emotions/inner conflict etc reflected in her expression, even if she struggled to express them. They are both on a very different acting lvl of course, yet i cannot help to notice it with this character and his very monotonous portrayal.)
I think the highlight of the drama is episode 5 with the gay couple since it was so tragic with its missed chances and the death so unfortunate. Definitely worth watching for this alone and a few other stories that (lightly) touch upon issues in society such as euthanasia and xenophobia. it It is respectful regarding death, allows room for its characters to grieve and celebrates life, but i feel it mashes the "YOU HAVE TO BE SAD NOW" button for the viewers way too often. So no, i think like EAW, Move to Heaven is a good drama, but not the masterpiece ppl make it out to be.
But that is just me, of course haha. Personally, I like the currently airing "If You Wish Upon Me", Tomorrow and Mystic Pop Up Bar more that are also about stories about people/social issues in its core and helping them to heal and move on. I think MTH would have made and left more an impression on me if i had watched it before these other dramas, but watching it in the order i did those are more memorable to me tbh than this show, sorry not sorry.
nice to see you joining in on this drama! I've had Move To Heaven on my watchlist for the longest time (but put…
Yeeees, hiiiii <3 Always nice to meet you again in a comment section haha. I regret that i have waited for so long to pick it up tbh, as it is really up there with Tomorrow and MPUB for me, atm. Which are both dramas that make you cry and sad but also are light and hopeful when they need to be. And i made the mistake to think that IYWUP was a heavy melo only when it is in truth very much in line with those two dramas. And the romance/dynamic between the leads, goooosh, i love it. It gives me big biiig Chaseul vibes and i am so here for this haha.

I really like the stark contrast between Poong and SML and how they treat Eun Woo. SML is all about protecting her, but in a way that screams you are a weak, feeble woman who is incapable of doing that herself and a lady should not xy 😒 Please stay at home safely tucked away, like the pretty doll you are. And then we have Poong who sees her as capable and values/respects her opinions, abilities and as equal to himself. He encourages her to follow her dream of becoming a physician and be her(nerdy)self, instead of telling her she shouldn't do that because she is a noble lady.
Currently I am on episode 4 but wanted to know how come YGR didn't recognise tae shik was the same man he know…
Probably a mixture of childhood trauma, willful ignorance and plot convenience. Though it is easy for us viewers to remember, when YGR wants nothing more than to forget about it and it had been also about two decades since he last seen him.
Finally caught up, now i am with the weekly waiting crew. Not to be that person, but coming fresh from having watched Move To Heaven as well, i really enjoy this drama a lot more, whoops. Reminds me of Mystic Pop Up Bar or Tomorrow without the fantasy elements in a way, because in its core they also tell the story of ordinary people and help them. I really enjoy the tone, themes and writing of show a lot, the characters are all fleshed out and lovable in their own way and yet i feel we have barely scratched the surface 👀
You are spreading the good propaganda haha. I'm still up in arms at how much this show went under the radar when…
Oh same here. It was airing at an unfortunate time and slot with too many other big shows airing at the same day, and left alone by its network with no promotion to boot. FNOS would have done so much better if released in the summer months instead, i bet. Forever bitter how they set this drama up to failure, when it deserves so much better. Hence why i will never shut up about it haha
Hm, i had 16 episodes noted from the beginning….did it ever say 12?
Hmm... nah. I can remember that it was 12 eps here on MDL for the longest time then it changed to 16 one day after it started airing. So i think Viki is probably more correct since they are the main streaming platform. But we will see.
I have it on hold atm as i grew a bit bored with it (pick it back up later) but i also think 12 eps would be enough for this kind of story.
Can anyone suggest good COMEDY KDRAMAS like this drama????
Depends on what you have already watched of course, since i have not checked your watchlist. But there is always Welcome To Waikiki as THE comedy drama, of course. Or something with the same vibe like FNOS... the currently airing Good Job, or the recently finished airing Cafe Minamdang (the latter is more passable than good tbh but still fun) If you don't mind some more somber tones in your drama interspersed with quirky characters/situational humor, try out the other work of the FNOS writer: Mystic Pop Up Bar.
Wacky comedy AND romance are abound in Crazy Love, too. And of course, in Mr. Queen. Highly recommend both of them.
Hmm, nothing much, or at least not what is airing on these days. I use these less packed days always to catch…
Oh, If You Wish Upon Me is sad at times as it deals with death and hospice work/granting last wishes, but its theme is more about appreciating life and making the best out of the time that is given to us. Definitely wholesome with well written characters. Like Move To Heaven in a way, tho i like IYWUM better.
From the airing dramas i watch outside these two (Poong included) are "Big Mouth" (excellent thriller/mystery drama) and "Good Job" which is a crime/heist comedy romance mesh up that does not take itself too seriously. It is light, bit mindless fun, but i really like it so far. Other than that i work my way thru my giant PTW list, but for language (learning) immersion reasons i focus like 99% on kdramas for the time being, so i have not seen Someday Or One Day yet. Heard good things tho, also that there is a korean remake planned to come. So maybe i will just wait for that hehe.
my fav drama🥹 can someone recommend me something like this one?
If You Wish Upon Me, which is currently airing is probably closest. Also Just Between Lovers and Tomorrow With You, maybe. The latter has some time-travel elements but is truly an examination of its characters and the main's relationship with melo tones/vibes. Both are excellent healing dramas tho, as is the first.
Oh i know the romance is not the main focus but it is so well written that its progression feels natural. I really enjoy FL's wit and grasp of situations, not only for banter or teasing him (the whole cpr talk lmao) but also when to lighten the mood/switch topics. Or how they gradually open up to each other, bit by bit. She really reads him well and is not baited by him being rude or putting on his "I don't care" act, and diffuses it rather quickly.
Also they are adorable as heck and i love how the chaos/wholesomeness ratio with them is indeed 50:50. I mean when the main leads first (real) meeting is one of her kungfu-kicking down his car's side-mirror, you know it is gonna be good 🤣 (Ngl, I am getting strong Chaseul (From Now On Showtime) vibes from them and their dynamic and i love it a lot)
Besides PTJP, what else is everyone watching on Mondays and Tuesdays. My days are a bit bare.
Hmm, nothing much, or at least not what is airing on these days. I use these less packed days always to catch up on older dramas tho. Right now i am watching Tomorrow With You, Run On, Marriage Not Dating and Cafe Minandang in rotation. Except TWY (which i paused in favor of catching up on "If You Wish Upon Me") they are all slow watch dramas where i don't power thru the episodes but watch one here and there, since neither grabbed me enough to bingewatch it at once, haha.
That hair-grab scene, lmao. What a great way to subvert that kdrama cliche tho. I really really love their dynamic, So wonderfully chaotic yet wholesome🤣
Also Gyeo Re is the cutest when he is gets shy/flustered over people being nice to him. Aww <3
I have only watched two eps so far,. but i don't get how anyone could say that Yoon Kyeo Re is a cold character/person.…
Also it is only my second JCW drama after Sound Of Magic, but i think the emotionally complex roles really suit him, since that man has raaaaaange and in this drama he can use it (much more) imo.
Really enjoy the small details he keeps adding to his character in this drama to bring him to live (all the microexpressions and body language portraying his inner conflict of wanting to connect and his wariness of it, that scratching his scalp tick whenever he is distressed or flustered <3)
I have only watched two eps so far,. but i don't get how anyone could say that Yoon Kyeo Re is a cold character/person. Like it is clear as day that he puts on a "conceal don't feel" act and behaves standoffish to keep people away and himself from being hurt by them/anyone. Typical tsundere who wants company and be loved/accepted and fears it in equal amounts (ngl, i have SUCH a soft spot for this character archetype, no matter if female/male character.) Also as soon he gets comfortable and feels secure with the ppl around him, I bet he is the biggest softie/cinnamon roll :D Gonna be a long process for him getting there, seeing where he comes from, but it will be all the more rewarding and I can't wait to see bit by bit more of that while i catch up hehe.
Dropped at ep 2, there is something I can't explain that made me feel bored and yet the plot is interesting.
Maybe give it another try? It is a slow paced drama focused on characters and their relationship, so imo two episodes are not enough to gauge the narrative/character development. It is one of these dramas where you need a bit of patience to get the rewarding parts as soon the story unfolds more. But it also could not be a drama for you, and that is fine too. Happens :D
this is honestly the reason why i have continuously put off watching it till now, whoops. Already hated it with…
Crash Landing On You. The longest episode of it is the final one with *checks netflix* 112 minutes 💀💀💀(I powered through it for Kim Jung Hyun tbh)
