Tbh, i was never a LJS stan like so many others here, just found him okay to charming in one single drama (Romance is a bonus book) but daaaaamn does he excel in this role of Changho ...now where he got off the chains. Tbh, i think the gray anti hero role type aka Vincenzo suits him much better than playing the bland heartthrob in romcoms.

Would be a damn shame if it all turns out to be a ruse after all, because watching him big mousing everyone is so much fun (eps 5.) and the best wild ride. The last time i felt so much glee about corrupt bastards getting their comeuppance was in Vincenzo. The both really have the same vibe, haha. Now get Changho a lighter, stats 🤣

Thought dumping: So I heard my mom recommending this to a relative. She described this as an autism representation…
they did such a good job with geurami and the case in episode 4 with her family and how she and youngwoo became friends. I don't get why this was never followed through with the other characters, tbh. Instead the drama only info-dumped a sentence or two about their bg, if at all, during an episode.

Like, people always complain how we know next to nothing about Junho outside of his romance (and they are correct, lol) but what do we actually *know* about the OTHER characters if you take away Youngwoo/outside of her? Not a lot. In fact, very damn little, actually. Which is a shame and could have been approached in a different and better way throughout the drama. It would also have made it all a more well-rounded narrative overall without detracting from the focus laid on youngwoo imo.

Oh I see, thanks. Already thought it was part of the bigger narrative. Still bugs me how the assault on the junior athlete is treated like it is no big deal and something ordinary to happen by everyone outside of ML tbh. Hope this gets addressed later on.

One thing i absolutely do not get is... why was the case not taken to the police? This has nothing to do with "disciplining a younger athlete or bs like that. Like these two assholes assaulted the junior athlete and battered him so much he needed hospital care and surgery. What they did is a crime, aka aggravated assault and they belong behind bars for it. I don't know why tf the drama makes light of that, culture differences or not. Reeeeeally bothers me.

Just started this and already i love how much of an oddball (meant affectionately) ML is. He is very articulate, in touch with his own emotions and well-versed/not shy in expressing them and his opinions. Maybe even in a tad too blunt way, even, which leads him into dicey social situations at times, haha. He is definitely a no filter, straightforward ML who says what he thinks, but in an adorable, non-malicious way, for once. I love him already as he is quite a refreshing character in the sea of otherwise samey ML's, tbh.

And i really like the dialogue writing thus far, it is snappy and flows so well in each of the scenes. FL/ML banters are a joy to behold, not because they bicker due to dislike as it is stereotypical the case in other dramas, but because they play off each other's sentences so well. Feels like a ball leisurely thrown back and forth and I really enjoy their wit that shows through their words. Also adding that with how casually they act and how open/straightforward they are with each other, it feels as though they have been friends forever instead of only recent acquaintances. Refreshing to see in a drama and i enjoy it a lot thus far (eps 3) Hope to see more of Kang Tae Oh soon, as so far he had like five minutes of screentime only haha.

How is it so far? Much romance?
Probably best you avoid this comment section for the time being as it is a spoiler minefield. I loved the romance thus far, but my love has cooled quite a bit due to the eps this week. Still very much a drama worth experiencing and watching, of course. Prayer circle for a satisfying ending at least, tho.

Yup, THANK YOU. I could not put the finger on exactly why the breakup bothered me so much, but you put it so, so well in words why the last two episodes felt so forced, inorganic and off in comparison to the prior narrative and characters established.

With how the speech of Jung was directed at Junho, i feel you are right, alas. *sigh*

I know it is hard for YW to take action/express herself when it comes to matters of the heart/emotions, but i wish they would give us *something* at least in this regard in the last two eps, so it does not feel as one-sided as it does atm.

I'm getting the feeling that I wouldn't be so disappointed with the recent turns of events if I binged EAW knowing…
Yeah, it is always better when you are aware what is in store when watching a drama. On the flipside i love being part of the discussion while it airs and you don't have to tiptoe a spoiler minefield (especially with such super-popular shows such as EAW), plus I find watching two episodes per week is a lot less overwhelming than having to watch sixteen/twenty etc. There are advantages and disadvantages to both approaches, but it will not stop me from watching ongoing dramas tbh.

For my part, I think enjoying the narrative and way it is written so much before with them subverting tropes made me overconfident in the writers. Hence i was adamant about them not taking the breakup route, or solving it quickly at least. Both did not happen, and it made me feel stupid for trusting them so much when they once again fell into the same old shitty kdrama trope trap. Ugh. Not to mention the hamfisted, sudden way they introduced Jung's sickness and minwoo's change of character/ SY liking him, like flicking a switch with no buildup prior. Both should have happened, or rather been hinted at at least, much earlier instead to pack it all in these last two eps and basically wasting valuable screentime with new and gratuitous plot points while leaving the old ones still unsolved. The way it was all handled in eps 13/14 is very very inorganic and stays in contrast to the prior strong writing.

Annoyance is also what describes my feeling best, like two disappointing episodes do not invalidate the drama's overall high quality and my recent enjoyment of it, but they have soured my excitement for the show quite a lot. Instead of counting the days till the next episode or watching MV's or reaction vids on youtube, i just want it to be over so i can put it in my completed list. Mentally i think i have already moved on to other dramas and i dunno if i will ever rewatch it, but i still hope they will give us a satisfactory ending, of course. How... I am not sure, seeing how 13/14 were basically filler eps, and the preview for 15 doesn't feel promising either. Eh, we will see. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If there is a positive side-effect of being disappointed in this week's episodes is that it will be easier for me to move on from this drama. Like it had been lovely until recently and i expected to be very sad about it coming to an end. But now i really just want to get there and for it to be over with (while also hopefully seeing it ending WELL, at the very least.)

But yeah, that is one kdrama hangover I expected to have fixed for me, i guess, since my enthusiasm for EAW has cooled down quite a bit. Gotta thank the writers for that at least, lol.

I'm forty and totally loving EAW, as it is more slice of life mixed with social commentary and a bit of feelgood with lovable characters. While the writing quality has dipped a bit in the past two episodes imo, it still stands out against many other dramas with it/how it is written and handled its difficult topics.

AoS however, lol. It was nice at the beginning but dear god does it draaaaaaag now its meager and yet needlessly convoluted plot over 20 eps, at gunpoint, even. I like the main leads but that is it, everything else is/has become just... meh. It has always reminded me of a subpar fantasy rpg i have played in various forms too many times, or the standard anime plot (guy seeks out into the world to become stronger) watched too many times back in the days. The antagonists are comically bad, as in i cannot take them seriously at all, and the mage guilds are a total sausage fest. Like seriously where are the badass female mages? This is bothering me to no end.

Tis definitely not the bestest or greatest fantasy drama ppl make it to be. And I love fantasy romance (Mr. Queen and From Now On Showtime are my two all time faves) but AoS makes me feel oooold as i just don't get why it is so loved, lol. Tbh, AoS is kinda a turd with glitter sprinkled on it to make it look pretty (its CGI) but in the end it is still a turd. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
