Okay I'm still loving this even if no one else is :)
I am catching up with this rn and I'm totally loving it thus far (eps 5) It really gives me the same wholesome feels and vibes that my underappreciated fave 'From Now On Showtime' did in 2022. Main leads' dynamic and all π₯° (in fnos ML is also not believed by FL at first, they start off as enemies and end up protecting each other then since FL is special too there/ends up seeing ghosts)
ML is adorably crushing on her already without being aware of it yet (also just like chawoong in fnos π)
-Voice season 1+2+3+4 (itβs all about serial killers) -The Good Detective season 1+2-Queen of Mystery season…
Great list. If you want to stay on topic with ghosts and such, "From Now On Showtime" also has a serial killer plot (main antagonist) so gotta add that, since it is sadly so underappreciated :)
From what I gathered he hasn't gotten job offers in a while (calls it a slump himself) so I guess his stupid 'scandal'…
Oooh interesting, thanks. Familiar faces indeed. I wonder if they are gonna be the parents of a lead or something. But again there is a lotta time left till september so we are going to hear more as the date draws near and someone will edit the cast then here in time. No need to stress about that now already tbh :D
I bet i am gonna hear a lot of news from other Junghyun fans on twitter too in the months to come, as they are an enthusiastic bunch (meant in the most affectionate way, heh)
From what I gathered he hasn't gotten job offers in a while (calls it a slump himself) so I guess his stupid 'scandal' put a hold in a promising career and kokdu was just not good scriptwise and even worse quote-wise. Hence his comeback stuttered to a halt as well unfortunately. Thus this is a smart move here actually as ML of weekender end up being beloved by the public in the end and he needs to win back the positive reception of the public, first and foremost, so that others in the industry will work with him again. Plus being seen by a wide audience, young (which he will attract and FL helps here too) and old with quotes/ratings in the double digits each weekend, being present onscreen with his acting for half a year is a smart move. An actor needs visibility and nothing offers this more than longform drama. And having a positive/close relationship with korea's largest public network kbs is nothing to scoff at either, for that matter.
Let's see if screenwriter Seo Sook Hyang still has it after a 6 year gap between the last work she wrote! One…
She wrote Jealousy Incarnated which means she's worked with Junghyun before, which is great. Whether or not her inexperience in wring longform drama is a plus or negative is remaining to be seen tbh. Bc while Once Again, widely seen as the best of the genre, had a rookie writer of the genre, so had The Real Has Come and that was traaaaaash. So it can go either way tbh but I'm also here either way bc of Junghyun every weekend for half a year πππ
This is supposed to be a 'black comedy' of sorts where one family has an iron business (as in ironing clothes) and comes to money unexpected while FL's fam needs it or something. Will be interesting if the writer can actually do the 50 eps format accordingly, and what she'll do with it. Black comedy of sorts would be a nice change to the usual screechy Olympics tbh. And KJH has the acting chops for it, comedic and otherwise.
rom com angst and angst btw its not slice off life by any angle maybe rom com except no com just sorrow
try lovely runner then, if you haven't already. It has its bouts of tragedy too that are to be averted/reversed time-travel style, but it is overall the cutest/most wholesome kdrama rn, imo. Got me single-handedly out of my month long kdrama hiatus heh. Sort of.
QoT is a good show too, but it is not an easy watch, very melo with nigh any relief for it. I am still stuck at eps 7 with it due to that, and it doesn't help that every eps is like 90 minutes long... so/too daaaamn long π(like CLOY was, so that seems to be a writer's thing here tbh)
There's one to many things that doesn't make sense but i'm just going to take it as rom-com logic:1. It is not…
Not to be that person, but these are both things that already have happened in the show, and were depicted quite clearly. So these are not theories but actually part of the plot :)
1. She really didn't know it was SJ who saved her, she kept asking her mother about the person's name, remember? Unfortunately he heard cursing out her savior for not letting her die when it was clear she was paralyzed. Which only added to him becoming depressed and him feeling guilty about it, i wager. She only remembered that it had been SJ saving her one and a half time travel later, after she saw him running toward her and he rescued her from drowning. It is most likely selective amnesia brought on by the trauma of the accident and its aftermath. This is why IS doesn't remember him saving her.
2. They did meet. The scenes we saw with the package and in the video rental store where she fell asleep on his arm are actually ones that happened in the past either way. Hence SJ crushed on IS haaaaard but she never noticed him, or knew who he was. Even in their first meeting where his career in loserism started she is calling him ahjussi (old man) 2008 Im Sol only had eyes for SML remember, while SJ only watched/loved her from afar and never had the courage to confess to her. That is what his song later on is about, after all. Also 2008 Im Sol is crushing on Taesung but he rejected her cringy confession/love letter, so they never ended up dating or talking any further like in the altered timeline later on. But as said OG Sol only had eyes for TS, which is why she was so taken aback to discover SJ was in the same school as her friends' brother (???) and TS close by to her own school, and cursed herself for her own inattention to SJ back then in eps 1 (in her besties' car on the way to the concert.)
I really like watching this daily and weekends dramas, sometimes i have nothing to watch but at least there's…
Yeah like for example Grey's Anatomy just got renewed for season 21 (?) π Talk about dragging the skeletons out of the closet and making them dance π« π«£π
I hope this helps his career and maybe he'll get something a lil more serious or something with more substance…
Oh I agree regarding mediocre actors getting gigs due to connection or popularity but weekenders do offer the full range of emotions for one's acting, especially as ML. As it will be have a bit of everything, comedy, drama, tragedy, romance, happiness etc. Enough substance here, really. Plus wide exposure to large viewership every weekend for six months, nor having contacts within kbs is to be discounted. Looking forward to seeing him on my screen again and this for half a year straight.
This seems to be a step back after the massive success of Mr queen. He is a good actor but ended up having too…
Don't mistake it as a step back. It's the best move to make to garner the favor of the public again. Plus he gets wide and weekly exposure to a large viewership of all ages, for half a year at that. It's steady work and a learning experience too since working on a weekender is so different to reg kdrama. Plus having good contacts and standing within SK's biggest public network won't hurt either. Hence smart move on his part, and I'm soooo gonna enjoy seeing him every weekend for six months π
After two episodes the ratings on Viki is are very low. Not sure about this one.
don't be dependent on mdl ratings, they are inflated/arbitrary as hell particularly since the last few years. Decide for yourself instead if you like a show. Also weekend dramas are veeeeery often also lower rated simply bc there are not many people watching them compared to reg kdrama, and thus not many ppl rating them, so the ones who do, have more sway to influence a rating in either direction. But again, see for yourself if you like a show if you are interested in it instead to depend on a random number as verdict whether to watch here

(I'm camping out here till September to see my fave actor back on screen, so don't mind me commenting a lot here, lmao)

50 eps is nothing in comparison
