Omg, you are right xD This is probably also why the plot of AoS feels rather meh/something i have seen too often…
Oh yeah, FMA, true. The drama is doing what it does well, but for me the story ain't anything as new or fresh/original as people here make it out to be. Ten years ago or so it would have been, maybe. Still, it is a fun watch, mainly due to the leads and their dynamic. For me it is more the characters that let me stick around than its story tbh.
I do not enjoy foreign films being dubbed. Itβs terrible lol, I would prefer their actual voices and natural…
Same. Already did that back in my teenage days with anime then loved to watch english movies/shows etc (i am german) in OT and now kdramas in their native language. Dubs always feel off in comparison plus immersing myself with korean helps me with my language learning efforts too, since the dialogue is more natural than what books teach you.
does this kdrama have an accurate representation of autism?
Accurate is probably the wrong word here as autism is a broad spectrum and the story is about one person on the spectrum only. Naturally it cannot represent all "forms/variants" of how autism shows in a person due to that. But if you ask if it is a respectful portrayal, then yes. Because WYW is never ridiculed or infantalized by the narrative for being neurodivergent. Quite the opposite. The narrative tells her story first and foremost and shows all the challenges, struggles, growth and joys her life brings with it.
Someone commented about the meaning of the law firm names and their connection to mountains/ocean and civil law…
Korean learner here (still beginner tho). ν Han means one and λ°λ€ bada is ocean/the sea, so the whale portrait in the conference room is pretty apt. Forgot what the other law firm was called but μ° San is mountain, yeah.
Aww no problem at all <3 Yesssss I love FNOS, it is one of my all time faves now and i still dunno how to move on from it ever it finished airing a month ago haha. Though EAW helps now thankfully π€ So *high five*
Oh there are quite a few of the newer dramas who have it, tbh :D Here have a handy-dandy list filtered after slow…
Oh np. It fits the drama tho, as its tone is overall very heartwarming/wholesome with a respectful portrayal of autism. It is a feel good drama with the right amount of realism and interesting characters/cases.
I guess #2 from that list aka From Now On Showtime could be more up your alley then, bc it definitely has a ML that is more than meets the eye (very multifaceted), plus a satisfying slow burn romance and character development. Particularly of ML as his story (and FL's) and coming to terms with his bg is front and center to all otherworldly shenanigans. Depends if you like a good supernatural/mystery/comedy/romance genre mix in your drama of course. If you do, you cannot go wrong with that drama imo.

Haha, sorry? i just mean to say he is kind, respectful and attentive (has a good grasp for situations; toward her, people in general and during investigations) so far and also there are just four episodes thus far. I am sure we will get to see more of his character and bg as the story progresses.

Aww, but hey there are at least *some* lol, and some are also not tagged but fall under slow burn romance, i guess haha. Depends on your taste of course so ymmv, but the ones i named are faves of mine which do all the things well, imo.
Oh, just give it a try and see how you like it for yourself. The romance is just a part of the bigger story revolving around the titular FL after all... and i find the ML quite well-written thus far.
slowburn romance in 2022??????????? OMG I NEED TO WATCH THIS
Oh there are quite a few of the newer dramas who have it, tbh :D Here have a handy-dandy list filtered after slow burn romance dramas of the last two years, starting with the most recent ones.
From Now On Showtime, Crazy Love, Mr. Queen have excellently done slow burn romance imo with a pace that fits the respective characters (and the latter two also have well-executed enemies to lovers progression.) The romance in Vincenzo is more in the bg instead of focus, but also good and "Do You Like Brahms" has the same FL/actress like this drama. So give it a look, maybe? Heh.
But yeah the romance in EAW is really precious and wholesome so far, due to the ML being a ten with a high golden retriever energy and very respectful manners. (Tho sadly he is no whale which is his one flaw basically, lol)
This drama messes with me in the best way haha, because today I was at the mall and giggled as i made my way through the revolving door there with the waltz rhythm playing in my headπ€£
Since he has volunteered to work with disabled people before, he has a better understanding of how to engage with…
Oh for sure, but that wasn't about her being on the spectrum or anything but about him not protesting Geurami making such a suggestion nor denying that he thinks about Youngwoo in a romantic way. I mean yeah maybe he was a bit flustered about it/too stunned by that as she came on pretty strong to him with that, lol. But the thought clearly didn't leave his mind anymore since he proceeded to ask WYW if she wanted to visit the place. Which further cemented to show his romantic interest in Youngwoo to the viewers :D
Idk, i just found the whole naturalness with how he went on about it really adorable and my mind was like "Awww he took her on a daaaaaaate/to a romantic spot" while squeeing π
That is what the on hold list is made for tho ;) Not blaming you, as i find myself in the same position atm. I…
I still like the drama well enough, i am just focused on other shows atm and not in the mood for it. The on hold list is good for that and i use it to park dramas there i still wanna watch but not at the moment. Some remain there for only a week, some several weeks or even months. I only drop dramas where the thought alone of picking them back up fills me with existential dread since they bored me to tears, haha. Though if you have no interest in picking it up again ever, then the dropped list is the much more fitting one, of course.
It's been nearly a week, but keep thinking about how Junho not even tried ONCE to deflect or protest when Geurami set him up with the tip of the most popular dating spot nearby. Instead he was like yeah i am gonna take my crush there to watch the sunset and talk about whales, good idea. Like this is the logical conclusion he draws from it and shows how he thinks about/sees Youngwoo.
Romance? The Good Doctor has a similar character and did the romance well.
Also it is finally in the tags (not as genre yet alas) but i upvoted the tag extra so it is visible at one glance :)
Anyway, the romance is wholesome and most precious though with how it is handled. Like the drama itself it has a lot of warmth/care and heart, slow and realistic in pace too. Whale couple supremacyπ
Edit: Oh, i think it is a different clip you all talk about tho? I mean this one here haha
