I don't know if I should say this, but it's more about the brothers' story than Mok Ha
Oh hey, nice to see you here. Imo they are all connected and intertwined and no character more important than the other, Kiho is an integral part to Mokha's life and she has been his biggest regret for 15 yrs before reappearing and giving him a chance to set things right as they were supposed to be. He had always been her biggest fan and now provides the framework for her to shine as a singer, once more. Their stories are intertwined and one story cannot exist without the other.
Sure if we had 16 eps it could have put more emphasis on her island life and the immediate time afterwards etc, but we always get glimpses of it through her dreams and such. With 12 eps however the story has to focus on the essential things and that is these three, no four characters that are all connected with each other and how they move forward from a darker place. It is the same in Thirty But Seventeen, as both leads have to move on from the past to find their lives in the present (plus the stories of the supporting chars being important too. The difference is the story focus and more episodes to focus on day to day events.
Also i keep forgetting that Woohak is actually the older brother because the younger Bogeol is more grounded and mature. They remind me sm of Chan and Woojin from Thirty But Seventeen, respectively, with one being the dreamer and outgoing and the other a bit jaded, distant and quiet,
Mokha telling Kiho all the many reasons why he possibly can't be Kiho (and him being offended as hell about it) is the most unintentionally funny thing in this show tbh😂🤣

maybe i give it another try down the line as i am sad i failed to connect with the characters unlike here, but a 9,2 rating for it is insaaaaane tbh. Just tells me how meaningless MDL ratings have become over the years, lol.

Try Thirty But Seventeen/Still 17 then if you havent. It is also dealing with music (FL is a violist) but the focus is more on healing from trauma and how to pick up a life in stasis after a decade in coma/buried in trauma and survivor guilt (ML). Very very wholesome and heartwarming with lovable characters and cute romance. Castaway Diva reminds me a lot of Thirty But Seventeen, even if their focus of storytelling is different.

Rip to all the hypercritical comments picking apart what clearly is meant to be a light drama (heavy bg story of abuse aside) but i am different. Still thoroughly enjoying this drama and all of its characters, which is rare for me. So excuse me while i squeal over bogeol/mokha finally getting more scenes together in eps 5 (catching up and the mystery of kiho has long stopped mystering tbh it is so damn obvious lmao) This man may not speak many words but his eyes tell whole stories whenever he looks at MH 🥹 🥹 🥹

It is a progress so it is very slow as she kept having feelings for her childhood friend for a loooong time and also other stuff happens but i guess you notice it in eps 8 or so of part 1. Part 2 is where it fully starts i believe, but as said it is a full blown historical melodrama so it is more complicated and layered than that tbh.

Don't watch part two before finishing part one tho as it is a direct continuation of it. I just watched part one thus far and FL holds a mighty candle for Sml who does not like her in this way while ML is all in for FL all the way through. FL gradually falls for ML but it takes a while. It is complicated lol

yeah i love it. Like i should find him creepy with his intent to murder FL and how he is staring at/obsessed with her but i just can't take him seriously enough 😂
Episode 4 got me in the feels, really love how they build up their story and complex relationship, past and present. The non linear narrative helps a lot here as it makes discovering new bits and pieces of information about them even more interesting. It also helps that the drama is so unintentionally funny with FL living her best romcom life while ML is planning a thriller and bloody murder... and yet somehow gets mixed up in her romcom 🤣
This drama is indeed the personified enemies to lovers trope, literally.😂
