It was available on Netflix there is where I watched it, one of my first kdramas too at that, but the license ran out so they removed it but it is still watchable for me on Viki I think? Haven't checked in a while tbh. Yep it is for me in Europe (Germany) Sometimes/Often it is just a license thingie.

Hmm sadly I'm not much of a Cdrama watcher, just here and there a show. So I'm not as versed in what is good and underrated etc like with kdrama. I'm watching Fake It Till You Make it atm, which has a more mature approach to romance and generally.

While BYT has that in common with FNOS the story is quite different in its focus. Here it is much more about the fantasy/supernatural elements, the found ghost family of magic factory, the connection of and focus on the leads and their (slow burn) romance in this life and beyond. Thriller is only a very small part of it all and rather means of bringing the pieces and leads together. Plus it has a lot more comedy than BYT and general a very good mix of story and genre beats. While i don't like the comparison it is much closer to goblin than Behind Your Touch. So give it a go and some patience as their story unfolds slowly (you get their backstory and chars fully by the end of eps 6 so i rec to watch till that at least)

OH THANK YOU. Rubi rude overstepping words have always bothered me as displaced and "not right" but i could not put the finger on why exactly. Outside of how i would have preferred someone older pulling her aside and it coming from a place of care instead of a literal shitkid whose ass is powdered to the max by her mother being disproportionately condescending to and looking down at her grown ass aunt, of course.

Also right on what you said about HS. Kindness is not equal stupidity as the demonspawn put it, but she is clearly shackled by an unhealthy pattern learned/taught throughout the years that breaking free from it is a long process and not a matter of "standing up and leave" how too many people here demand her to do. Which is a very western attitude at that as we always have to remember that these are stories written for the domestic viewership, not (us) westerners. Family dramas in particular.

There are lots of unaddressed patriarchal structures too with the mother frantically taking care of the sons while disregarding her daughter and taking her for granted that i hope will be addressed later on. Also agree that this is no codependency or that HS is a doormat bc she clearly expresses her opinions and disagreements and stands up for herself, as ineffectual it often still is atm. But like her mother there are issues buried that cause lie with the abandonment of her father and thus she could never have the childhood and career she would have needed or wished for (pro running athlete) which led to self-esteem issues/not valuing herself enough as she always had to value others more.

But like you i don't see her falling for a man who isn't on an equal level with her and disrespects her, just to "baby or take care of him" Or dates someone just because he likes her as TM does. Aka for charity or out of pity. That is not Hyoshim. It has been made clear that she is drawn to TH because she feels comfortable with and being herself around him and there is no power imbalance between them but a fully equal dynamic seeing eye to eye in just about everything. Unlike it is the case with TM, tbh. Which explains her discomfort with him in comparison to TH, and rejection of TM's advances (that fall on deaf ears alas)

It is always fascinating to me how you see characters, no matter the show lol. I could not disagree more with basically everything. Be it HS "falling in the same trap with being attracted to him as if she wants to baby him and not her being very comfortable around him being the reason, Taeho being manipulative (wut?????) and HS being too weak for TM as a partner. The difference in standing between them is too large true, even if she had like 1% interest in him -which she has not- it would never work, but it hasn't to do with HS being too "weak" and rather everything with his fam being classist af and this would be a life led that suffocates her even more than her toxic fam does atm.

And also it is rather TM who has a big fat inferiority complex and jealousy problem with TH who he perceives to have led a cozy life, completely disregarding what he has been through. What prior was jadedness on TH's side toward his cousin was made personal by TM in taking away that totaled car of TH's parents he had zero rights/business too. And then monologued his sob story to a beaten up/injured and desperate TH with how much harder his life is and always has been, not to forget. But then again empathy is a state in a different country for him and disregarding others thoughts, feelings and opinions other than his own is what this dude does best lmao. TH is not perfect either and made mistakes to which he owned up to at that, but wow he is by far not the warped sexist evil trash human "manipulating HS into liking him" (as if she were a hap and brainless maiden without any direction or agency of her own, lol) you make him to be for some weird reason. At all.

But i guess this is where YMMV applies, i guess?
