Ah... I thought that there was something familiar about the production values and my brain immediately reached…
Both Longest Day and this series adapted from the same author, different production teams. Longest Day is directed by Cao Dun who also directed Tribe and Empire. His series is just very good to look at but they just go around in circle and very draggy. This director is not that good either but so far, everything is moving along and not dragged out.
My Impression after first 8 episodes with NO SPOILERS: As a big Cdrama fan who has liked only two historical dramas…
Totally agree with you, there're lot of great things about this series. Leads do their own dubbing, even with short coming in their line delivery, I'll take it over voice actors/actressess dubbing. So sick and tire of hearing the same way of talking in every historical dramas. China is so big, how can there be no accents even in ancient time. Are you kidding me? I can't watch c-dramas because of the dubbing. Secondly, no dance-fu, I want to see something that look like people are fighting and this series delivery. Love the carriage scene. Thirdly, even some short-coming with this director, I'm glad this series is not direct by Cao Dun otherwise everyone will just go around in circle with beautiful scenes to look at and get to nowhere. So far the plot/ storyline is very engaging so I am hoping that it continues until the end.
Yeah I wish they had just hired Cao Dun to direct this instead of this cheap-ass and IMHO lousy director from…
I wouldn't watch it if Cao Dun direct this, his name is now associate with unnecessary beautiful scenes with no substance. To be honest, I was worry about the directing since the rating on douban for the director's older series are not that great. However the plot is engaging thus far so... let see if it'll sustain until the end.
I like how at first she was the one chasing after him and then 3 years later it switched
I found the 2nd half very sweet and it shows how much she meant to him. He helps her with her psychological trauma; I don’t want to image what would happen to her if he never came to see her. Poor Wu Yan.
Is this easy to follow from the start? I dropped Nirvana in fire due to it being way too complicated at the beginning.
I don't remember much about Nirvana in Fire but I did have a hard time starting it too. To me, this series is easy to follow since they don't focus on a lot of character and a big mystery that need to be solved.
So far, I ike the plot/storyline, hopefully they'll keep up this pace. I'm glad everyone did their own dubbing despite some antis criticism toward the series. A very interesting period this series is taking place and please let this be a Huang Xuan series where I finished it.
I feel so sad for Wu Yan; the girl can’t catch a break, one emotional roller coaster after another. If I were in her shoes, I would definitely have an emotional breakdown.
When she gets ready to go home to meet her dad, he clearly interrupted her reasoning thinking that her family…
I don't agree with you, I think their breakup was inevitable. They both bottled up many little issues that they had with each other and never talked it out and just brushed it off all these time. They both are very prideful people. Sometime people are breaking up over the little thing because it’s the straw that breaks the camel’s back. They set up a lot of small situations that lead up to the breakup if you pay attention to them. I don’t feel that they ruined any character development at all. No one come off like and asshole, it just timing was really suck for both of them in all front.
I didn't get the scene in the hospital after the elevetor scene...Was it cut ? Why was Wu Yan in the hospital…
It meant to be ambiguous for now, we're going to have some background information about WuYan in the last 3 years in future episode through Wei Hou. Based on the preview
