Both of them had different roles and characters. I am a fan of both Go ara and Seo ye ji
Yeah, but to me Seo Ye Ji portrayed a emotionally suppressed character much more strongly, which made Seo Ye Ji's character more appealing and strong compared to Go Ara's wishy-washy character. I've seen Go Ara in Black and that also wasn't impressive to me. Just my own tastes.
Yes!!! There is no need to dwell into Xu Feng's past because he's been given everything and has always been favored.…
Well, that is your opinion to say so about The Untamed being a shameful, crazy fan-girl drama. I thought that at first too, but gave it a chance and was pleasantly surprised and ended up loving all actors of the show. The show doesn't start off the most engaging like most C-Dramas, but later on I got hooked. So IMO, it does deserve the hype it got.
I love love Moon Chae Won, and I believe she is so underrated!
I watched Innocent Man back in 2012 because I was a part of the Song Joong Ki Oppa brigade lol. But wow... Moon Chae Won blew me away with her acting! And their chemistry was sizzling hot on the screen! I became fan of hers and watched her old dramas. She is such a good actress, and I always wait eagerly for her next project. 'Flower of Evil' is... feeding me so well. She is paired with Lee Jun Ki too, and they are just amazing together!
Seo Yi Ji just finished It's Okay to Not Be Okay, and she is on my to watch for list because her range is pretty good. She had a minor role in Hwarang, and honestly she outperformed Go Ara.
Ha Ji Won is a veteran actress and well known. I'm in the minority where I've never seen her acting to be impressive, but I haven't seen Empress Ki or Hwang Jin Yi.
I also think that it is an odd metric to measure the goodness of a person's character soley based on their ability…
I thought it would have been better being more objective and having a more thorough assessment of all characters that impacted Run Yu, so I agree with you the writer was biased! It shallowly became a hate article about RY lol, for lack of a better word.
Yes!!! There is no need to dwell into Xu Feng's past because he's been given everything and has always been favored.…
I wouldn't say The Untamed is "infamous" as in shameful or egregious. But I also wouldn't expect everyone to have watched it! Run Yu's character really just reminds me of a villain in The Untamed.
Run Yu was the best that anyone could hope for as the result of abandonment and abuse as a child. He had tact,…
OMG! No way? I didn't finish the drama haha. That is quite a turn off for the Male Lead. His mom was the wooorst. She is inexcusable as much as people are calling out Run Yu.
Yes!!! There is no need to dwell into Xu Feng's past because he's been given everything and has always been favored.…
Yes, that is my point in my other comment as well. Run Yu very much reminds me of Xue Yang from The Untamed, a villain with a horrendous rap sheet ignited by the injustice they've experienced as children, allowing for a conflicting watch. Run Yu's mind has been warped by his toxic upbringing and unattainable desires, so his depth is much more compelling to see drawn out in comparison to Xu Feng. I love how flawed his character is - How inexplicably tormented he is that he ultimately ends up hurting the one he loves all the while incurring the utmost agonizing destruction upon himself. I can only understand his story, but cannot say his actions are excusable.
It's been a while since I've finished Ashes of Love, but if I remember correctly, the reason why we haven't seen…
Yes!!! There is no need to dwell into Xu Feng's past because he's been given everything and has always been favored. His arch wasn't momentous because there wasn't a strong internal struggle like Run Yu's IMO. He didn't have the world going against him, all he had was his love for Jin Mi.
I will like to put another spin / point of view on this. If we are going to use the modern definition of romance…
Agreed! In modern times... his mental health was never addressed, never treated. Someone who has endured such an upbringing will most likely exhibit dissociative or obsessive personality traits... I feel this was Run Yu's case.
I couldn't finish the drama because I couldn't bear to see my Night Immortal Prince fall down so hard without anyone to catch him. I don't know if he deserves Jin Mi, but I don't think she deserves him either. He deserves to be with someone who loves him for who he is, he is a broken soul. His "love" for Jin Mi was love but not without an obsession to hold onto something he's never had. The writers did a good job writing him so beautifully flawed and it was heart wrenching to watch him struggle but also disagree with his tactics to obtain his goals. His isolated upbringing, manipulative abuse from the Empress, along with another secret about his upbringing... It all brewed someone who became unstable but still wanted love so bad. It doesn't excuse his actions nor validate what he's done, but it gives a glimpse of understanding as to why he turned out this way. He just wanted what he's never had, what he's always been told he could never achieve. Besides, Luo Yunxi is sooo good at expressing his compressed emotional distress. His performance outdid Deng Lun by far. I immediately became a fan. IMO, Xufeng was quite a boring Male Lead... but he's handsome? Lol. My verdict isn't black and white: Run Yu is absolutely flawed encompassing both good and bad, contorting into a dark and bleak tragedy.
i am pretty sure the drama is to honour and show the hard-work of the doctors, nurses, front-line workers ect.
I think what medical personnel need right now is funding, balanced work hours, mental health support, bountiful amounts of PPE, leadership etc... I mean a drama is nice, I guess. If nurses can ever get off shifts. All the money being spent to cast all these popular celebrities... But I don't know what behind-the-scene plans they are making.
I tried watching My Husband In Law because I like Mew... but out of nowhere the story changed into a weird tech game between them and I was just so confused lol. Like was I still watching the same lakorn? Might go back and skip a few episodes.
I grew up watching C-Dramas and Hong Kong films. I really enjoyed them, but as I grew older I gravitated toward Korean Dramas as a more hip, more cool media to consume. But a few years ago, I'm returning to watching C-Dramas and films at a higher level than Korean Dramas, and enjoy them a lot! I tend to love the Costume Dramas a lot more than the modern ones. And the game genre is just lost on me lol, even though its popularity in China is quite big.
The OG Korean Midnight Runners was hilarious, nerve-wracking, and surprisingly raw. I only watched it because I enjoy Kang Haneul and Park Seo Jun, but the story and chemistry between the two made the film one of my favorite buddy cop movies now. There wasn't as many details about the two character's life outside of the police academy, but for a movie I let it slide. I'm sure the Japanese drama will include more details about the characters. The movie touches a lot on different themes that made me appreciate the story of life: materialism in SK culture, career burnouts, youthful passion.
Being a horror movie buff, I've watched many of these! Haha, I think the Thai ones are the scariest, maybe because culturally they are much more relevant to me. My favorite comedy horror is Pee Mak including the Phobia series, which are also funny but scary too. I'm surprised your rating for Devil Fish is high, but everyone has their tastes. Although not a highly regarded film, the Singaporean horror film The Maid (2005) was also one I really enjoyed. The Thai horror film Sick Nurses (2007) strangely is also one of my favorites, I'm usually not into that type of horror.
I rarely get SLS too because the characters most likely develop toxic traits that makes me lose all interest. I've had bad SLS for Kim Jung Hwan in Reply 1988 though because he was never pushy with the FL. I stopped watching Ashes of Love because I could not stand the writing for Night Immortal (Luo Yunxi is just too talented at playing a broken soul), and decided to drop because my lovely Night Immortal will not get a happy ending.
I have a huge crush on her. She is definitely one of the most well-seasoned veteran SK actresses out there. I like how she always push barriers and isn't afraid to take on roles that challenge conservative Korean values. She's amazing. I remember watching a few dramas as a child with her as supporting cast. I'm so glad to see her career flourish in SK and Hollywood. Sense8 is an amazing show and I loved her character. She plays strong characters very well.
I miss her on the screen so much. Will have to re-watch her old dramas. Ever since watching her in King is Not Easy, I had an inkling I'd follow her career as it takes off. Like Zhao Lusi, I'd love to watch Bai Lu's casting improve! She definitely does Costume Drama justice and beyond. I tried Lucky's First Love and just couldn't get through it, not much of a modern drama fan, but also the Male Lead was not to my liking.. I'm excited for Love is Sweet though because of Luo Yunxi, I hope they reunite in a Costume Drama because they both dominate that genre! Surprised she's never gotten formal training or graduated from acting academies like most actors in the C Entertainment Industry. This girl not only acts, but literally embodies another identity and becomes someone else on screen with her entirety. Other than her acting, she is very chill and can get along well with her cast members, becoming friends with them even after a drama ends. Telling that she is a nice and kind person! Her appearance is definitely the style of beauty I like, and I like how she is humble about it too.
