Used for attracting a mate the ML/FL got lost in the sparkle. TMI? 😂 This is an unusual version of getting to sexy time vs the standard wuxia/xianxia use of an aphrodisiac. It really is about the beast, its anatomy, havesting bits to be used for spells, and then inexperienced cultivators. Then again when it comes to harvesting the more the merrier?

True, the smoothness of the journey and the broken character storylines are key weekness. It seems like the writers try to fill these core pervasive gaps with information speak overkill. Sometimes it helps most of the time not.

Its a thought provoking question. Harem 'crushing' - yes you are right though he pays no attention to the women and does whatever he needs to do to get around it and/or away from them. Technical harem - no cause it requires the collective physical presence of the women.

Well put - good example. I see what you are saying. From my standpoint its the post production mixing of fx genres. As they combine the digital files including live action, CGI, 3D rendering/animation, static image files, and box reels splices - something is getting lost in vfx translation. Part of the glitching could also be because this seems to be a groundbreaking attempt at moving the pre-existing (outstanding) donghua into a live action drama by heavily relying on the 3D production - essentially creating a new hybrid visual art form? They must be learning along the way which is exciting really.

No the original story is not a harem per se. He marries the FL and is eventually manipulated into taking Mu Peiling as a concubine in essentially a clan political move. Ultimately, he never sleeps with her nor does he have a significant relationship with her. He is fully in love with and dedicated to his wife.

He is meant to be average if not a bit below average, nothing special, though as he moves through advanced stages of cultivation he gets taller, slimmer, and better looking. And, as he moves into immortality he uses the standard cultivator freeze your face (from ever aging) 'card' which makes him look sustainably better looking. Takes a while.
