Yes it was pretty success, high number of views. But it have its own criticization, So many people think it is not offers something ground breaking but I don't see anything wrong with that. I don't think that necessary. Drama always divert so much from source material. I never see drama 100% following source material. Even so this drama. Just looking at the poster and the vibe, it will be completely different thing from manhwa/animation. They just took basic premise and rewrite it. I could be wrong.

The ending is happy ending. It get slow on the second act which is mortal realm arc. I think so many people think it is draggy because ML and FL do not skin ship as they hope. 60% ML and FL relationship is push and pull relationship. Technically they are kinda ex couple that try intimate again. There is a reason why their relationship go this way because their love ended tragically in first act.

It is more focused on storyline, romance between main FL and ML still big part of it.
Simply put if you wanted xianxia with heavy focused romance, prolly it is not for you. If you wanted adventurous xianxia with subtle romance, it is for you. It is really matter of preference but again I watching this drama for Yang Zi so I enjoyed it and biased.

You are just too nitpicky over this drama. LBFAD also had similar security issue, ChangHeng keep coming to Moon tribe to meet XLH and he literally enemy of Moon tribe. DFQC also have insane invisibility spell to bring XLH on top of Heaven Realm roof, but why he not just use that for anything else that are more important. If you want to keep dig, you will always find it.
But that's not the point why we watching the movies / drama, right?
