Since 60's? How old are you? I really like when female characters become strong without need martial art, just them being smart , resourceful and persistent. Current Drama like Destined, LTTG or Blossom in Adversity. Way closer to reality even though woman with martial art also a good spectacle.

Zhang Ziyi was amazing until she took weird role play as Japanese in memoirs of geisha and she retired since than. I guess she hated play character that forced into her.
