I am so glad I read the ending in the book. I was confused if XH survived or died, and that was just XFF's dream of him returning. In the novel, XH goes to war and disappears. Everyone said he died in battle and his jade was returned to XFF. XFF waited for him despite everyone saying he died. She took care of the Su Manor and Ye ShiJie stayed by her side the whole time. A long time passed, and XFF couldn't move on. She decided to go to Qilin where XH reportedly was killed in battle to try to find his body., but it was reported his body couldn't be returned and was eaten by wolves. The army at the time had already returned to the capital and were victorious but XH never returned. XFF made her journey to Qilin and somewhere along the way, she and XH reunite!!!!! Ends up XH was actually badly injured and was blinded. The emperor didn't want him to reveal he was alive because he wanted all the rebels to reveal themselves. Also XH was very weak and if people knew he was alive, his life would be at risk. He learned to live amongst the commoners. He wanted to tell XFF he was alive and even went to visit her secretly but the emperor didn't trust XFF since she knew too much. He told XH, if XFF doesn't end up remarrying after a year, they can reunite....something like that. And he agreed to cure XH's eyes. If she remarries, she will have her killed since she knew too much. In the novel, the emperor had grown to be distrustful. So I am at the part where they have reunited...woohoo!!! XH doesn't die <3 When he returns, they are granted a marriage. So what we see in 40.5 happens after he went missing and returns. Someone wrote that that was during the 8 years together before he goes to battle but it's actually after. The battle /war happens very soon after SYR dies.
This drama is amazing, the ML and FL are on fire! The actor play SYR is really impressive!! He's so good acting demented and I like him as one of the villains. This is a rare drama where it's actually enjoyable watching the villains I must say and the chemistry between all the characters is so intense. The OST and bgm is so good. I hope the bgm gets released soon.
Did anyone notice the cocktail like drinks with straws and umbrellas that they were drinking? So funny!
The scene when LGX says "that laugh was horrible" broke my heart. Best scene and acting from the leads there. I loved this drama, I think I need to rewatch it again.
How is it possible he has not won any awards these few years? I see so many actors who don't act nearly a good as him being rained with awards. I don't get it ...
I am really enjoying this drama. So many hilarious moments and I absolutely love the FL. I have never watched her before, she is naturally beautiful and so cute, but she has such a calm and collected composure. CXX is not only great at acting viciously angry, he's also so adorable when he is jealous. This is the best rom rom I have watched in a while.
Wow....CXX's acting in episode 32 was explosive!!!!! I can't think of any other actor who can do this scene better and you guys will know what scene I'm talking about when you watch it :D Do not mess with Qian Heng!
I haven't started My Boss yet because of the FL. I saw her in A Date With the Future and she was okay. But then…
My Boss is good, there's so many great interactions between the ML and FL. The chemistry is definitely there, I would give it a try! This is the first time I'm seeing the FL and she's pretty good. I think her acting can keep improving but it's a lot better than the FL in Our Interpreter imo. The ML goes from a super mean boss to a super cute dude experiencing his first love so there are lots of sweet moments. He's mean for quite a long time, I think that was the complaint but it gets rosy and sweet so I would keep going.
Hard not to compare this to The Boss since ML is the same. I really like the Boss but here, I am not liking the FL's acting. She looks grumpy in every single scene and is pretty much expressionless. She just looks upset all the time. I wish they kept the ML angry at her longer as I found those episodes so much more interesting. In real life, would a guy who was dumped really try so hard to chase the same girl again especially when she just gives him attitude? I hope she shows another expression...maybe sad, touched, something other than a frown hopefully. I am watching it in the background as overall it is a bit boring. Meanwhile the ML has so many levels of expressions. He is always a good actor.
There's something about Jing Tian that sets her apart. She has such an elegance to her. The way she walks and moves, she is naturally very poised. It's almost like she has gone through palace etiquette training from the past LOL. I love that she just seems genuinely sweet and well-mannered.
Does anyone know why Xiao Zhan didn't win any awards at Tencent or iQiyi awards show? He had 3 dramas aired this year but he was absent at the two large award shows recently
