yes yes yes...it better be REAL special. nothing less will do. They have to recover this in ep 16 becuase this episode sucked out the magic from this relationship - going by this episode Shin Woo isn't looking like Tae's one true love - but rather just an option to choose from.

Daon on ep 12: you go stay by taekyung sideDaon on ep 15: taekyung, can I like you?Noo u cannot, you've gone for…
EXACTLY- Daon has ZERO integrity. Don't care for him AT ALL now. Makes you think n value Shin Woo - Shin Woo had the class & grace to give multiple chances to Daon before he moved forward that too with Daon's approval. Meanwhile Daon makes a love confession after he gave blessings to Shin Woo to chase Tae. Also, Daon confesses his love right after Tae admits he wants to return affections to Shin Woo. I mean, come on! No class at all.

Are the writers aware how Selfish he's coming across? that "Can i like you" moment was a ugly moment for Daon's character.

Post that i couldn't tolerate ANY of his scenes, whenever it would cut to Daon's face in the audience during the contest scene, i would fume. Also did you catch how Daon sorta emphasized on the word "today" when he let Shin Woo take over looking after Tae's make up - he told him "I'll let you help him since youre the manager today" - that one word "today" revealed this boy was shameless enough to now COMPETE for Tae even though Shin Woo was so fair and graceful to Daon.

i feel cheated by this show. we've been baited to see them as a couple and they have no intentions of delivering on that this season- one scene of them together at the end isn't going to satisfy an audience that was kept on it's toes for so many weeks waiting.

i get the sense most are pissed off by this ep. felt very cheated by how little the story progressed in this ep esp since the next is the finale. we waited like crazy, hoping the 2 finale eps will be high on clarity n momentum . ep 15 was supposed to be the beginning of tying of loose ends, but the writers instead chose to still keep us on our toes - bad call, its a serious mistake imo, this is not the time to be clever when you have only one episode left.

Based on what Tae said to Da-on (that he was glad he LIKED him, yeah I am going to emphasize the past tense, but…
so GLAD you're on the exact same page as me.

couldn't stand tae looking all smitten, this is so not the time for that - his character should have realized things by now.

my heart was in pieces in this ep tooo! i too think that tae wants to deal w Daon n close that chapter and thats why he stopped Shin from taking him away. He prolly wants to REALLY move on and make it super clear to Daon that he has no doubts about it -as that convo on the bench didn't go through Daon's head clear enough., maybe he realized something while on stage, that he loved Shin & was comforted only by him,

Also, i don't want to see them getting together right at thre last minute - its like we were waiting for nothing...for just one tiny little scene at the vry very end? The love triangle should hv been resolved in the first 5-10 mins of this show. the remaining 20 mins should have been bout teasing the audiences with the wait for Shin Woo to "get it" that Tae is into him. & 16 should be when we see them as a couple, w all those sweet moments & them finally confronting society n peers in the end.

EP 15 Spoiler Reaction - VENTING SESH!

This episode was PAINFUL to watch. It wasn't a bad episode if you know what I mean, all ShinTae shippers will understand -this was hard for me. Gosh, I have never felt so HEARTBROKEN & in tune with a character's feels - Shin Woo stood up for himself in this episode, that was great but I'm TIRED of seeing him taking the step forward, it's ep15 - when will TAE make a move either towards or away from him.

And NO, I'm not buying this "What should I do"/I'm confused bs neither will I accept a cliffhanger at the closing of ep16, I'm not waititng for another season for Tae to make up his mind. And "make up his mind" - shouldn't this all come from your gut or your heart or your instincts- you don't need to THINK & measure these things. I don't accept this confusion. Meanwhile, Shin Woo is putting it out all there - it almost feels like he is wasting his time and energy agonizing over a boy who is in love with a plastic people pleasing perfectionist.

I mean even if Tae chooses Shin Woo now, it won't be as satisfying because the way this character has THOUGHT his way through his choices and chose Shin Woo as though he's some winner - I mean, the love story looses all it's magic if Tae isn't reciprocating the same depth of affections that Shin Woo has - whoever wrote this story, either reveal to us that Tae is equally madly in love and crazy for Shin Woo or just don't make ShinWoo the end game at all. nobody will enjoy the one sidedness of this all or the open endedness of interpretations here - we need to see real reciprocation. i do not like seeing Tae still brightening up everytime he see's his first crush, Daon - no there's no magic if this love story ends on this note - if Tae is still confused about which boy do i pick then he DOESNT deserve Shin Woo.

Seriously, is this show not planning to resolve who he ends up until the very last minute of the last episode? If he chooses Shin Woo - let me see them date a bit, will we just get five mins of them smiling at eachother and holding hands at the end?

Also, I have never hated Daon more than I do now. Yes, it's not justified, no one OWNS Tae but I absolutely hate him for saying "I like you" to Tae RIGHT AFTER Tae clearly told him he wanted to return feelings of affection for Shin Woo. Remember guys, the first scene on that bloody bench, Tae EXPLICITLY said to Daon that he has moved on and now wants to be closer with Shin Woo but what is Daon's reply??? it's "I like you". WTF.

Shin Woo had the grace and class to let Tae take the call & even gave chances to Daon to get back with Tae BUT Daon, what does Daon do, when Daon hears Tae wants to get close with Shin Woo, he doesn't for one second think for either for Shin Woo or about what Tae just said - he just goes ahead confessing. Daon was just selfish in that moment. it was ugly moment for me. And was it just me or was every one pissed whenever the video cut to Daon in the audience or whenever he shared a moment with Tae - I did not like the sight of him. This says so much about EXCELLENT writing of the show - I have never been THIS invested & engaged with something to be this PISSED & DISTURBED by whatever is happening on screen.

I do hope many of you are in the same boat. Damn - just ONE MORE episode? After looking at the story that progressed in 15, I'm finding this all very depressing. Even if he ends up with Shin Woo - what will we get - just 2 mins of them looking happy...and then wait for a milenia for season 2. However this show ends, it is dissapointing there won't be at least of fews eps showing them together and dating and all those sweet moments. This is kinda SAD. Hope there is a season 2 but I am NOT at all happy about the wait. I do feel kind of cheated TBH

This is it. This is our last week at Saebit high school, Tuesdays & Thursdays won't mean much without Light on Me. I had a great time with this show.

This comment section has been such a great place to come to. I got the feeling that this place was rather active, more than for any other show. This is my First time following a fresh on-air BL with the rest of the BL lovers at the same time, so it was great for me. Sure everyone's gonna miss this hard. I get always get a BL- low when I'm done with a good show - it's gonna be pretty sad after thursday. In gearing up for our FINALE week with these Light Boys, I did a complete rewatch.

Spoilers Ahead*

So glad I rewatched this show, it was just as fun as the first time - i binged on it so well - plus, more importantly I saw a lot of indications that showed that Tae was unconsciously into Shin Woo from the get go.

-The serious & monotone sounding Tae Wong, who wants no friends comes alive and becomes playful only around one person and that is Shin Woo. From the spider on your hair scene to those moments on the school trip, Shin Woo doesn't seem to realize how he opens up more, lightens up and becomes playful around Shin Woo.

-He is so dialed into Shin Woo's emotions all the time, knowing exactly where he is and reading him & seeing through his behavior - like when Shin Woo dropped his lunch tray on Daon, Tae's first instinct was to think he did it on purpose and to think it had something to do with Shin Woo's anger towards him. Even on Tae's very first "tutor date" with Daon, all Tae could think about was Shin Woo & his perplexing kindness - would you be thinking about anyone else if your crush is sitting right in front of you? that too on your first out of school weekend outing ever.

-Even his need for Shin Woo's friendship is a question worth wondering - is this all just for the council, about following their counselor/teacher's or Daon's suggestion to befriend Shin Woo or does the boy seem rather keen to win him over. I mean wasn't he a bit aggressive in his pursuit, do we put this down to his naivete or is there something to it? i mean he followed Shin to the bathroom lol He says himself that he doesn't understand why he gets mad when Shin Woo says he doesn't like him.

Tae grabs Shin Woo's arm, he's done this twice & pulls Shin's collar - he's always crossing boundaries. Even in the earliest episodes when Tae was holding Shin's arm at the time Shin Woo tells him that he doesn't like the way Tae behaves like they are friends when they are not. Also notice how he is fueled with anger & verbalizes his discontent when Shin Woo disappoints him - there is something so personal about it. Tae is really comfortable around Shin Woo & skips a lot of steps and behaves like they are close even though their level of friendship doesn't really warrant such behavior.

Can't thank and appreciate the writers, actors, crew & makers of this show - it's done so well. Although, i wish they change their approach to putting make up - sometimes the lip tints are distracting and under some lights the makeup is pretty obvious. That's only a minor issue I had with this. I guess if this was lit differently, i wouldn't see any of this? I donno. Anyway.. What a great immersive and engaging story - LOVED THIS - and if they make a season 2, i think this site would crash lol

Title Light Spoiler
Yes the ending was definitely rushed but DON'T MISS THIS. please.

Theme Of SEX
If you think about it, the story was centered around sex - for the character Light, a young prostitute, it seemed sex was connection, love & all intimacy ever is - he wastes no time in wanting to go there, he wants someone to say "I love you" and that's enough to get intimate. Shuo, the undercover cop takes him into his home & looks after him without a second thought but what I think they were trying to show was that there was sexual attraction from the get go, - you see, he has cameras in the alleyway doesn't he, and he knows what Light's been up to. So this kinda shows maybe how sex was how these two characters connected right? I kinda like how they made this their main pull.

And those explicit intimate scenes though- We don't get to see our BL character's being unabashedly sexual - you got some bdsm in here, Light sniggering as he's beaten at times and some passionate scenes between the leads - I kept thinking these actors are amazing to not worry about being type casted as these characters - these are real actors in the sense of the word - go wherever the role requires - bold stuff here.

The ending
I'm not disappointed with the ending but like everyone has said - something's up with HOW they ended this. What we got was 40 min movie, alright, with the love story reaching it's midway high point at the 30 min mark BUT then within the last 10 mins of the movie a conflict ensues and is resolved quickly- The End! - something was definitely up.

It was rushed, i think chunks of story were scrapped and not all loose ends were tied. If you remember, Shuo's character is an undercover cop and he was clearly there to investigate some gangster/goon character - they set that situation up pretty clearly but they never deal with it EVER. My gut feeling is that his undercover cop storyline was meant intertwine with Light's storyline, like Light, being a prostitute would find a way to get caught up in all this mess - but it never happened. We never get to see Shuo in some action scenes and saving the day.

Even Shuo's character isn't really explored - the synopsis of the movie says more about him than the movie itself shows. he's supposed to be a character that "cannot love" said one description of the movie but did the movie ever go there - no. My guess is that this was supposed to be a 2 HOUR flick that was shortened due to COVID and the story was altered to accommodate the shooting limitations.
On A Man Who Defies the World of BL Aug 15, 2021
Watch this. It's such a captivating adorable ride. I love watching the title track "i am MOBU!" - you will love the tone & humor here. loved the ride! Although the ending felt rushed ... like as you approach the end and see the story tying it's ends, you'll catch yourself saying"wait...so that's it, just like that?". For such a wonderful set up, you'd expect an equally wonderful resolution which you never get - you just get a simple little "so that's it...we tying it all up now"- so story wise it;s a great story with a compromised ending

Also, the show is great all through but i felt it seriously needed a few additional episodes between ep 3 & 4 because important developments in story are not given the time it warranted.
On Seven Days: Monday - Thursday Aug 15, 2021
Watch This. this was a cute, IMMERSIVE, & wonderfully paced Boys Love story about a week long relationship deal that reveals how clueless & silly we can be when in love.

This came out in 2015 but is the most freshest BL out there, strange isn't it. this has to be on a "must watch" list. it contributes very well to the BL genre, we could call it a classic.

Granted the premise is not very believable but gosh are these characters real ... you feel their angst, their longing & agonizing uncertainty & all those tender moments in between. Its not only a good simple story but it's directed very elegantly too.
This was REALLY good. Well written , simple, satisfying & touching. 8.5 for me.

Couldn't give this a nine becuase I feel the show betrayed us by not showing enough of Kang In Soo's character's point of view and journey. This is a big point becuase we didn't really get to engage with the character - he was kept at arms distance away from the audience throughout, it felt. This made the show feel incomplete.

Couldn't give this a ten becuase the storyline seriously warranted an additional 3 to 4 more episodes to actually show climax points like the music labels decision to go against the Chairman and back Kang In Soo - Also we needed to see the journey to & struggle of that album release, this is what moved the story and enough of it wasn't shown and it made the show feel even more incomplete.

Regardless, it's very very recommendable solid 8.5. I would otherwise give this a 7.5 but it's well written, satisfying and it so lovingly tells this story of one boy's absolute admiration & unrequited love - the main character is someone you can easily connect with & feel for.

Person Son Woo Hyun
I DON'T PRAISE PEOPLE'S ACTING EVER BUT ....

You have to be an incredible naturally gifted actor if your performance transcends language so strongly the way his does - this guy in To My Star was SO REAL. It felt like I was watching someone just being himself unaware of the camera - it is SO inspiring & delightful to see such unadulterated talent & creativity - you can see all those little moves & nuances he brought - he's worked on it but doesn't let you see it. Clearly, he is doing the job he was meant to be doing.

I loved To My Star because he gave the show it's heart, joyousness & realness - he brought such a charismatic presence didn't he - he & the character were one - hard not to grow fond of him. He might have been playing himself and I still would call him EXTREMELY talented because it's hard to be this NATURAL and deliver a nuanced full-bodied performance & make it seem effortless on camera.

I've never felt so engaged & noted an actor's performance ever before...that too in Korean which I don't understand...THIS says so much about how he used every other facet of communication other than language to deliver that character to us. His voice, tone & expressions, those looks & reactions and body language & his comical bent which he leaned into from time to time. PERFECTO!
On To My Star (Movie) Aug 11, 2021
Watch this if you're in two minds. Anyways, here's a random essay on how I came to approach the show

I was hesitant to watch this show. I skimmed it to get a good look at the actors and becuase Kim kang looked a bit too young I just dropped the show believing that I wouldn't be able to buy that he's adult chef & love interest.

Months and months later, I now need a filler for in between Light On Me. Other than LightOnMe & Eyes Linger, I strictly kept away from other Korean BLs because I had an inkling there won't be happy endings, that it would have a serious tone and because I expected the cast to be too perfect looking for my comfort -so, with a good collection of films/shows for me to choose from, I Istarted with You Make Me Dance and then had a specific urge to watch this show.
For some unknown reason, I wanted to see the story of the chef & actor that I had dropped.

Maybe coz Light On Me's Shin Woo won me over, i thought Kim Kang looks a bit similar, so I felt maybe how young he looked won't distract me - I could see myself seeing him seriously as a romantic lead and boy, am I glad I saved this show for now coz my appetite for quality shows has been perfectly primed.

When months back I discovered the world of BLs ... I was mostly looking for that typical BL, the popcorn crowd pleaser type - with overt tones &the to-the-pointedness of the HIStory series or the sweet silly puppy love of 2 Moons or My Engineer or the combo of sexual tension & page turning chemistry of TharnType, I wanted the simple stuff, basically - i couldn't get enough of it - I had no time for well paced, charming quality content - I wanted it to be loud & cheesy. I was never looking for a genuine romantic comedy drama and To My Star isn't really a BL imo, it is a very very engaging, adorable, very well acted & rewarding romantic drama that just happens to have boys. This is exactly the right time for me to watch this....and i'm loving it.

in conclusion this show doesn't warrant any hesitation - it's GOOD!, it's cute, heartfelt & delivers a good story and wonderful main characters that. Now when I compare this with Thai shows, i'm noticing they are not as crisply & tightly written or well acted. And the guy who played the celebrity, SOME PLEASE GIVE HIM AN AWARD - his acting blew me away, I believed every bit of it - he's so himself on screen. I felt like I was watching something so charming, cute & real because of him mainly.

I think we're pretty clear on Shin Woo right? He's admitted he's had feelings for Tae for a very long time before…

i think the latest ep gave us a lovely warm & emotional glimpse at Shin Woo when they revealed the numerous messages Shin Woo has been secretly sending to Tae since the day he met him, with no care if they are ever answered - it was poetic & touching. I think there's more to come - the momentum has picked up in the story, more Tae-Shin & more revelations from now on.

just saw ep 13 - no spoiler -
can i say how much i love this show

it beautifully played with my expectation back n forth
the story took a deep dive in details, making every little thing matter
we as fans, discuss chat argue over the minutest of turns or hints or moments to make meaning..
and the show is right there with us, just as precise, just as devoted & just as particular

we know where the show is going, which ship is sailing but what a way to go about it - this is called good writing. Whoever made this show, loves their job clearly. Shows no longer play w our expectations these days, especially this territory is over familiar to everyone .

maybe its coz this is my first korean drama, i don't know but what would otherwise be a simple drama is now this fresh n rich story with turns, revelations & surprises where you otherwise wouldn't expect...they packed so much into this little nugget & then beautifully drew out little gems here and there as the story grew bigger and bigger.

maybe i'm making too much of it - but wasn't that a satisfying episode or what!!! and that sound clip of the girl going "aaah ahh" whenever they want to show the character is all caught up in feels - when it was used in one of the scenes in this ep, i couldn't have been happier because we all know what it meant.

I forgot why we need to appreciate Thai BL's .... they are daringly sweet but unlike other countries they are more than comfortable being Sexy. Just like Tharn Type this show is committed to bringing steaminess to the luv-duvey bl world of cuteness & enemies to lovers relationships.

i'm not complaining, it never feels gratuitous the same way Queer As Folk didn't ... it's just an intentional sexual vibe with crush worthy leads guaranteed as usual.
