The trailer looks absolutely magical. Hopefully the CGI in the actual series is a good as it is in the trailer. Unless the writing is absolute garbage, I don’t see why anyone would not give this a try.
A lot more thrilling, but it lasted so short. The score isn't abysmal in China, but it's not top tier season 2…
in BTS footage, Joseph Zeng stated that he accepted the role for this character for the "other side of Li Jia", yes we only get to see 10 minutes of footage for this character. I have a hunch they filmed more that they had to cut out due to time restrictions or something. I honestly feel they could have cut out "Green Nails" chapter for more episodes in the "Stranger" chapter.
I realize I’m climbing on a controversial soap box here, but the very fact that I can and that my heart has…
Chinese person here! I won't comment on anything else because I was born in Canada, so I'll never know the real feeling of having to live years in China, but I do guarantee you we have many more stories to tell and offer to the world, and that many of us will find ways around limitations to tell those stories~
I don't know but I feel like the last ep was more thrilling than the rest?? Like I really like the idea of split…

Final 3 episodes review/thoughts with spoilers in replies:*sigh* they just had to do the typical cdrama move of…
-Li Jia almost murdered the person who was trying to murder him and Cha Cha. -Chen Ming Xuan’s understudy becomes really concerned for Li Jia’s health, and warns him of Chen among Xuan. -Cute moments between the 3 amigos -Li Jia learns the truth that Chen Ming Xuan was manipulating him, and dissociates.
Im no where near being a psychologist, but I’m pretty sure Li Jia didn’t inherit their family’s recessive schizophrenia, but instead has a exaggerated version of a split personality disorder, like DID. He has a traumatic childhood which is a valid trigger for DID, he suffers missing memory, and he dissociated, calling himself “we” in front of both Cha Cha and Chen Ming Xuan. He also said to Chen Ming Xuan to “Tell something to Li Jia” and that “Li Jia is paranoid, always recording himself at night” and stuff along those lines, while saying stuff like “He’s scared and shy, but I’m not” and “I’m different from THEM, I don’t need you to wait” towards Cha Cha, possibly hinting at more personalities. But then again, whether he has DID or is schizophrenic, we’ll never know cause they left us on the most open ending possible.
- No extra explanation of his childhood, which I feel should have been necessary. -We don’t see if he gives an explanation of his condition towards A Cheng, and the explanation towards Cha Cha was barely one at all. -No explanation to viewers either. We know this “alternate Li Jia” existed since the beginning, which all the apples littered around different story lines, but we have no idea why he was there and/or what he was doing. -We don’t see if Li Jia “wakes up” either.
I also feel they didn’t give this “alternate Li Jia” enough time. The acting was wonderfully done by Joseph Zeng, giving this alternate Li Jia a psychotic child-like type of vibe, and this version of Li Jia is on most promotional material for the series, but got 10 minutes of screen time. They developed Xiao Xi’s backstory and story arc in general better than Li Jia, and they killed that character off episode 20 something.

*sigh* they just had to do the typical cdrama move of not giving us a satisfying ending huh. I really like this series but the ending... didn’t feel rushed per say, but felt incomplete. It really needs just 2 more episodes to tie up loose ends, but I feel that really ain’t happening. Damn this would have become one of my favourite dramas this year if they just... tied up the ending a little nicer and didn’t leave a massive chunk to viewers interpretation.
1. Li Jia falls further into psychotic lapses2. Episode 20 is just a lot of crying after Xiao Xi’s death3. Cha…
It's shortlasting, but cute romance. They're an extremely on and off bittersweet couple due to Li Jia listening to the sketchy doctor telling Li Jia to push Cha Cha away.
"Why was a Chinese drama at the top of most anticipated?", I asked myself
Then I looked at the cast and was like "oh." Not a fan of modern romance stories, so I probably won't watch, but cast is pretty great and hope ya'll enjoy when it releases.

Yea. I'm just afraid they're gonna drag this "game" out for too long and the ending will be rushed. Hopefully they conclude this story by the middle of episode 24, cause from the trailer and bts, theres still many scenes that we haven't seen yet, which I would like it to not be all squished in 1-2 episodes.
Latest episode spoilers for those who want them in reply (20-23)
1. Li Jia falls further into psychotic lapses
2. Episode 20 is just a lot of crying after Xiao Xi’s death
3. Cha Cha rents out her house. The one who rents her house is interesting in Li Jia. Li Jia ignores her, but she’s actually a serial killer and she kidnaps Cha Cha and makes Li Jia play a game with her to get Cha Cha back alive. The game has not yet concluded this week.
Not a romance focused series, but it for sure has its moments. The main couple is slow (their first “official” date happens episode 12 ish and doesn’t even last long), but cute and have good chemistry. Once again though, it isn’t romance focused but it’s certainly there and enjoyable if you don’t mind the other genres that come along with it.
(BTW Ancient Detective being used for the thumbnail of the article makes me all giddy and fangirly~)
