ep23, FL went to meet with the empress to get her help. she brought her iron hairpin with her as a backup plan. If the empress does not agree, she will kill empress and her whole family will get executed.

she made plans before that like killing off the empress so her entire family will be executed including her father.

can't get enough of Chen Du Ling's smug smile. it's the only reason i kept watching this.

The ML did what the FL said because he HAD to. The FL is a vengeful character. Laws in ancient China being that if the crime is serious enough, the criminal's entire family gets executed. The ML was forced to go along with the FL's plans in some cases because if he didn't she would go at it alone and commit a crime that would get his whole family executed.

I didn't like it because the FL was not evil enough. There was no chemistry. The show explained the Marriage was one of convenience for both to get what they want. AND THAT IS HOW IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN. I really really hate that they tried to add some half assed romantic crap in at the end. They should have just have the FL kill off everyone. notice this drama is not tagged with romance so I don't know what you were expecting from the start.

I still prefer the novel version where when WYF decides to get together with SY she decides to not run away and face her problems.

So I read the web novel and I can understand why many of the fans of the novel disliked the drama. The Hong Kong storyline and the grandparents storyline was not in the original novel. The delulu intern was also not as annoying in the web novel. I felt that The First Frost would have been better if the director followed the original novel more closely.

on ep22. the roof top scene was great. I love Chen Duling when she acts evil characters. I wish she would get more and more evil until in the end she goes Daenerys Targaryen on everyone hehe

I haven't seen his other dramas but his performance here is really bad. Sure, I've seen worse, but with excellent performance from the FL and the supporting cast, his lack of acting skills stands out like a piece of shit in what is otherwise a great bowl of soup.

Xin Yunlai should retire from being an actor. I don't know what directors see in him. Dude can't act or even move his face.

I totally get that part. If the police catch the killer then SY would miss his chance to hurt him. If it wasn't for the uncle, SY and WYF would have been together in collage so I get that SY probably wanted his personal pound of flesh.
