whilst this was seriously the cutest episode ever, i also just adore the fact that yifan is feeling SO safe with sang yan to be able to do things like wear short skirts, get absolutely hammered, be vulnerable & open up about her past to him and act like a little spoiled delicate girl wanting to be pampered that she never got to do after being forced to grow up far too soon. in the earlier episodes, she also used to constantly wrap her arms around her body to hug inwards as if to protect herself, but now she's flinging her arms out wide open leaving herself entirely defenceless, knowing that sang yan will be there to help catch, carry and protect her both metaphorically and literally, and i love that for her.

it's not about yifan being unable to live without sang yan, because we can see even without him she was doing alright, but it's how his presence by her side just makes everything so much brighter and so much happier for her (and vice versa!) by choosing sang yan and announcing her love for him in public, she is letting herself love and be loved rather than thinking of herself as a burden and not worthy of the best things in life, and this is such an important step for her in her healing journey

the 桑 chinese character in sang yan's name (桑延) means mulberry (leaf) !
the mulberry fruits grow on a tree so the leaf symbol is probably just a more recognisable and more masculine design to represent him than a berry fruit lol

ep 21: yifan runs into che xing de in person (aunt in law's bro that previously SA yifan) x__x, THAT passionate…
considering they've been so accurate with the novel for the iconic scenes i think likely the only ones they'll cut out will be the super sexy scenes lol, except one of the posters was the scene from straight after the ballet performance so they'll at least keep the kiss part hehe

unfortunately he does turn up several times both harassing both yifan and sang yan in the upcoming near future…
ik seems like it flew by too quickly ;; but dont worry from the behind the scenes reuters it looks like they kept a good number of their happy scenes especially from after the big climax, so i think hopefully we should get a few eps towards the end without the darkness looming ^^

OMG, I am reading the novel but only keeping up with the pace of the current episode's storyline. I hope the uncle…
unfortunately he does turn up several times both harassing both yifan and sang yan in the upcoming near future :'( he is the main "villain".. but the drama did add the extra phone scene where he sends her the pic and her calling him so im not sure if they'll change things up. some of the novel scenes were indeed a bit hard to read esp if you're sensitive to those sorts of things but i think in the dreamersdontdiecom version, the translator does note when to start and stop reading during the more triggering scenes if that helps..!

Lol! When she gets sober. She'll wanna Crawl into hole. I'm sure. How cute can she be???
in the novel she is extremely embarrassed when she remembers hahaha i hope the show adapts the whole drunken + the next morning scene because it's really funny and oh man she is the cutest ever sang yan is truly lucky to be living his dream

This is sweet!
if they follow the novel, then likely it will start early next episode. che xing de is the man (her aunt's brother) that is the "main villain" and she will have numerous run ins with him on/off over the upcoming episodes before everything comes to a head. we'll also get the climax in sang yan and yifan's relationship as well. but likely they'll intersperse the sweet moments and leave a couple eps at the end for happiness ^^

I have one word and that's wholesome. While I'll be sad once this drama is over, every time I watch an episode…
exactly ;___; this show (and novel) is just so especially wholesome and healing. whilst this is a story about love between the leads, but it's also a story about loving ourselves too.
it reminds us that even in the darkest of days, that as long as we keep putting one foot in front of the other, maybe there will be light somewhere along the way and whilst we may never erase any of the pain and struggle that we went through, possibly we can still find some other form of happiness in life to strive living for and in this case i'm especially glad that yifan has now found a home to feel safe in, both literally in the apartment that her and sang yan share, but also in the people around her too. this drama is really carving a special place in my heart!!

i love how TFF is just going from strength to strength. a lot of dramas can tend to fall flat towards the last…
also!! i absolutely adore how genuine siqiao and yifan's friendship is and how siqiao has always been there for yifan. the painting gift was so lovely and it really shows how much awareness and care she has. really glad this drama has fleshed out more scenes to showcase their growing bond with e/o and it's just really nice to see girlhood happiness ♡

i love how TFF is just going from strength to strength. a lot of dramas can tend to fall flat towards the last third of the narrative especially if the couple gets together too early, but this one continues to make my mind EXPLODE every time yifan and sang yan come together on screen. whilst their interactions are now becoming much more comfortable and so reminiscent of a domestic husband and wife - it's really a gentle love which admittedly with a less skilled cast and crew can cause it to venture more into the boring territory - but the amount of tension and chemistry is still incredible and makes me hang off the edge of my chair wanting more and more like an addict lol

and although sang yan would wait for a hundred years for yifan, and yifan probably doesn't want to make him feel like he has to get involved with the shit in her life, i'm really moved that yifan, by letting herself be vulnerable to sang yan after having built such sky high walls for so long, is finally opening up and divulging some of the secrets and her emotions that have been buried deep in her heart. because sometimes it's not just sharing in only the good things, but also seeking comfort after the bad things have happened with mutual communication that will make your bond stronger, and this is something especially yifan needs to learn to be more comfortable with.

p.s. i'm kinda devastated that the iconic projector scene is in yifan's imagination but i can't even be mad because it is one of the dreamiest and romantic scenes i've watched lately. this drama truly be crazy with how melancholic and slow it can be, but simultaneously so hopeful and magical 🥺

Title Always Home
i've never watched any of these actors before and yang xi zi really embodied chen huan er like crazy with her adorable spirit - i'm going to look forward especially to her future projects, but honestly everyone acted their characters superbly. i also think this drama did the friends to lovers trope extremely believably - personally i didn't even really sense any inkling romantic feelings between the main leads in the first quarter but you could slowly sense the burgeoning feelings creep through their daily interactions as the drama progressed and never felt shoehorned randomly.

loved the amount of friendship and life lessons they interspersed through the episodes and even the parents' stories were interesting and really moving. i do admit there were a few plot points that probably could have been executed better (especially qiqi and sc's character arcs) but all in all this was a really underrated, unexpected gem of a drama. if you're looking for a sweet, funny but also touching slice of life youth drama that will make you giggle but also tear up, i would recommend this!!

Wait doo how old is the fl currently?
it's pretty heavy fictionalised but it's still based off the real king jeongjo and his concubine uibin seong!

1988 is my favorite, but 1997 always was pretty nostalgic! however i do feel like it probably can be considered a draft for the later series as the plot and dialogue may feel a bit more clunky if you watch it now. but i do enjoy watching stories where you peel each layer by layer like an onion and slowly find out answers to different questions, or view scenes in different ways.

re: The Double- yes i heard they were going to keep it as a sad ending, or least allude to duke su's death in the battle scene (as he did die in the novel) but apparently because of the drama's popularity during airing, plus i bet yuzheng probably got spammed a whole load extra hate comments threatening him if he left it as a bad ending, so he called the actors back to film that fanservice happy ending bonus episode. but i think the audience in general could sort of tell or felt like it was the "afterlife" so they knew it wasn't the happiest ending of all which kinda affected the whole drama

i've seen queen of tears but it didn't particularly resonate with me. but i really enjoyed twinkling watermelon and found it was executed well with lots of funny and moving scenes. it was actually an underdog show that i didn't expect to like so much.

if you like youth dramas, always home which just finished airing had surprisingly quite a few touching scenes that made me tear up though it is focused on slice of life friendship and familial bonds and then of course romance towards the later part. i heard meet yourself is really well rated and loved, though i haven't watched that one myself yet ^^

btw just as a tidbit, when the subs say "girlfriend" in the scene where sang yan talks about his jacket with his friends - he actually refers to yifan as their "sister-in-law" (aka his wife) which is why his friends all tease him for moving so fast. loser in love sang yan already married to yifan in his mind and wants to proclaim to everyone her status to him ♡
