she used to like him in the past, but in the present day she is very guilty about how she hurt him and also thinks he deserves someone who can love him more passionately than her so she really suppresses all her feelings for him as deep as possible.

however, her subconscious self still really likes sang yan as evident by her wanting to hug her sun (sang yan) and also kissing him when sleepwalking (normally she doesnt do these types of actions when she used to sleepwalk previously) - it shows her inner longing for him and her way of seeking comfort from him after she is super stressed out by her family. sang yan also naturally brings out the sides of her that she doesn't expose to other people as you can see she reacts very differently to him and also cares for him in certain ways.

it is very subtle currently, but soon yifan will more actively show her love for him!

For real!!! Did you also see how BJT said he literally read and watched all the various adaptations including novel, manhua, audio drama etc and read through all the readers comments to get a much more in depth understanding of the characterisation? The amount of work they have both poured into this drama is amazing and im glad it seems to be getting a really good response as they really deserve it!!

yes!! the tipsy yifan scene should be in the next 1-2 eps so it means we should also get the yifan pretending to be sleepwalking in order to purposefully hug sang yan scene too so pursuer yifan should be soon after that *__* omg i'll go crazy with the fact that we're only getting 1 ep per day over the weekend

i almost spat out my drink they are really leaning into the gay couple trope lmaoooo yifan's expression cracks me up omg i can't wait for ep 11

y'all i can't stop replaying the scene where yifan and sang yan are watching the ghost movie on the couch and yifan is trying so hard to stop herself giggling at sang yan's cheesy ass line

my parents make each other (and me) so happy ahhhhhh sang yan really does bring out the cutest side of yifan he is always making her laugh (even if it's at his expense) and helping her forget all the hardships in her life even if it means having to sit through a horror movie that scares him witless. i also love how he is her biggest protector that loves her unconditionally. he doesn't expect anything in return. lets her be her truest self, and doesn't question or want her to change her personality, which was the opposite to xiang lang who purely didn't understand her or her needs.

and the way that SY finally admitted that he bought the chicken soup specifically for her rather than just pretending that he bought too much. yes please keep showing her that she deserves all the best things in life!!! you can also already see she is starting to let herself open up again to sang yan and also to show her care for him. c'mon yifan, give in and let's start pursuing your man <3

FL is not exactly dirt poor but she does struggle a bit to make ends meet and always thinks about the price of everything. I can't remember if she ever tells her friends the whole truth, so I'm pretty sure ML finds out from her first definitely. ML also doesn't associate with any other girls at all lol the running joke is that he only hung out during uni with his best friend Duan Jia Xue who was the other campus heart throb so people thought they were a gay couple. In the novel the ML's mom also attempts to set him up on blind dates even with guys after he keeps declining going out with girls lol

No different actor, Yuan Ye has not appeared yet

Yes crush on Yifan. He'll do stuff like buy her breakfast or pretend to be drunk so that she will help him etc

If the drama continues to follow the sequence of the novel then he should turn up within the next 1-2 episodes. He's generally harmless and has no effect on the leads' relationship unless the drama decides to change things

He plays a new intern at Yifan's company (also knew SY as he was a junior at his uni) and has a crush on her- he tries to hit on her several times but she never really gives him the time of day apart from general kindness. Not sure if they'll change it up for the drama as it does look like he's billed higher than ZXW who plays XL :S

yess she gets a lil tipsy one night, sang yan takes care of her, she then dreams about him. she then wakes up to get water and sang yan assumes she is sleepwalking. still filled with longing and emotion, yifan acts out of impulse and pretends she is just so she can knowingly hug sang yan ;___;

this drama is such an underrated gem that has really surprised me! i love the slice of life youthful vibes and actually am glad they haven't focused too much on the romance aspect, am not too bothered about the love square since they are all so young and crushes are so common during this time period. it's been a really nice build up where you can see how bit by bit how they'll come to realise their feelings but it's interspersed with so many friendship and life lesson moments which has been touching

also i've teared up at a few scenes already, really pulling at my heart strings <3 hoping it continues to keep up being strong til the end!

no break up, but there is one pivotal time after they start dating where yifan's lack of communication causes them to have a sort of cold war but it's sorted pretty quickly! (it is during the time where sang yan flies to yihe and finds out his sister is dating djx (sy be going through hella emotions during this trip...), and then yifan will fly to yihe to chase after him to apologise and they will resolve everything here!)

it's a slowburn and there will still be quite a lot of melodrama because of her family, but they get together about halfway-ish through the novel so in terms of their relationship and drama trajectory it'll soon generally be a lot fluffier (and dare i say steamier) if that will help you keep going ^^ (though if i had to guess they'll start dating maybe around ep 15-20 so maybe you can wait to binge watch it if you find it boring currently)

the sleepwalking hug scene is in ep 8!!

when you realise that the first meal that sang yan cooked for yifan is noodles which is what they ate every time they met up in beiyu where SY has to take a 1.5hr train each way just to see YF [audience screams]

and how the sleepwalking hug is probably the first time they got so physically close to each other in the whole time they've known each other and omg the tension is off the charts. sang yan was literally TREMBLING and and trying his hardest to repress 8 years worth of crazy yearning and you can see how much he wanted to just hug her back but knew not to cross the line. and how sang yan is !! THE SUN !! to yifan and how she just wanted to be comforted by his warmth <3

i swear when we get the scene where yifan later pretends to sleepwalk and consciously hugs sang yan will be utterly insane i need to continue to stay alive for this

Yifan continues to have a very strained relationship with her mother out of filial piety to her dad, but essentially she has one last accidental run in with her towards the end of the story where her mother continues to try to make excuses for YF's attacker amongst other things (she is a real piece of work). YF finally says she will delete her mother's contact info from now and tells her "please treat it like your daughter was killed by Chen xing de that night"

The aunt later also is sentenced to jail too for 3 years (for covering up CXD's murder of the other girl)

No thankfully her uncle came home just in time to save her but this event was still bad enough to cause her PTSD and her sleepwalking

Actually sorry the guy that SA her is actually YF's uncle's wife's brother not her blood relative I think - anyway short version: he gets arrested in the present time after being found guilty of a different crime and gets the death penalty

long version if you want more spoilers:

YF wants to report her SA to the police but the aunty (she is the one that YF hates to meet in ep 8 when she visits her mum's house) tries to dismiss it all insisting he was just drunk, her uncle is also a pushover and her mother also doesn't believe the situation nor helps her out. Luckily the police does come and YF goes to stay with the female officer instead of returning back to her useless family.

Che Xing De (the man who SA Yifan) unfortunately doesn't get charged then as there was no concrete proof he assaulted her and her relatives keep trying to suppress the "scandal" and that's when YF escapes far away to Yihe

Later on in present day, he runs into YF again and causes trouble for both her and SY (they are already dating by this point). He is also soon on the run because there is new information that he actually did rape and strangled a female in his neighborhood. SY ends up fighting him (tho he gets stabbed in the process) but hallelujah CXD finally gets arrested and gets the death penalty!!!

Aww they just did a promo live event and ZRN said the scene that left the deepest impression on her was the CNY noodle dinner that SY made for YF- she said she teared up especially hearing the voiceover "Thanks to you I got to eat dumplings" because it made her happy that YF had someone by her side who didn't budge even after being pushed away

BJT said the scene that moved him to tears was the rainy night where they parted ways
