i like a lot of different things! - i'm currently on a romance kick so Blossom (Meng Zi Yi x Li Yun Rui) was my most recent fave *__* and my other faves (kdramas) in that subset are Lovely Runner and especially The Red Sleeve. but i also do really like slice of life and emotionally driven shows paired with comedy that center around a found family like Prison Playbook / Hospital Playlist / Hot Stove League etc

i only got back into watching a lot more c-dramas in the past few years so I've been slowly finding my feet again. unfortunately historical c-dramas tend to repel happy or at the very least satisfying endings which i gravitate to, it has been hard to form a big list of favorites hahaha

just for the record she's not sleepwalking every night - there's only been around 5 instances over the period they have lived together which around 6 months now.

ofc whilst we know that yifan tends to sleepwalk only after an emotional upheaval/stress especially towards her family, but it's not like sang yan knows the full story behind it and generally most sleepwalking episodes can be a relatively harmless event that doesn't need to be cause for concern, so i don't necessarily think it's suitable for him to suddenly force her to seek professional help at this stage when he doesn't know the actual reasons for why she is doing it and especially since yifan already said she will go to the hospital herself.

in the novel (and maybe to come in the drama since it actually fits in the timeline of the next episode) she actually does visit the psychiatry department and undergoes examinations. and it talks about how she has seen previous doctors in the past who had determined her sleepwalking to be hereditary and prescribes her calming/sleeping medication and they did the same again this time. however of course at this point in the story, i presume she never actually opens up to the doctors about the major assault and troubles she went through esp as she has not truly faced or learnt to properly manage her PTSD and trauma.

in fact i do hope the drama touches more light on how mental health issues are highly swept under the rug especially in asia and how seeking ongoing therapy can be really important (unlikely in an idol romance drama but one can dream) but hope this gives you a bit more insight on the situation.

according to the new schedule ep illustrations, we are definitely getting the confession scene on ep 18 so dating era starts next friday. no wonder they skip thurs ahhh how to last until then!!!

yeah she just has to confess to him because SY is just waiting for her tbh

but it will take some time after she realises she wants to be with SY because it's not really in her personality to directly say it. but at one point she will finally ask him if it's ok to pursue him to his face, and then straight after that they will get together

yes she'll decide to actively pursue him.
yes jealousy plays a small part, but if you want spoilers on the novel:

yifan will soon realise that she always acts differently around sang yan eg allowing him to come close and touch her face without pulling away etc, she also thinks about moving out or not living together with sang yan but realises she doesnt like that idea as it will mean less interaction with sang yan. she also then gets a bit jealous and possessive feeling when she thinks sang yan has been going on blind dates. after a few other happenings, sang yan then gets her a birthday cake and special gift which moves her because no one has bought her a cake in a long time. the gift is also inscribed with her nickname wen shuang jiang which he hasnt called her in a long time (except once when she was sleepwalking so she didnt realise) and thinking about it she suddenly was overcome with the feeling of wanting to be in a relationship with sang yan

so yes all this leads to her (making attempts) pursuing him haha

agreed!!! honestly considering there is 32 episodes to fill up and i expected those extra scenes anyway, they've done actually a surprisingly very faithful adaptation of the source material without it feeling weird which is commendable considering so many other shows botch it up transitioning to live action, but you're right also that the new changes make the drama more engaging because the audience has new material to scream over and look forward to. i really hope they'll keep going well for the rest of the drama!

one more sleepwalking scene before that - yifan will first walk into sy's room and just look around, and then after that will be the one where she climbs into sang yan's bed and falls asleep there. should be in the next 1-2 eps as it comes straight after sang zhi visits again and that visit is shown in ep 13 preview ^^

omg yes that wasn't in the novel either. it was sooo touching 😭 especially because it also gave us the scene where sang yan specifically tells yifan he bought the chicken soup specifically for her grrr my emotions

lets focus on all the extra good stuff that the drama has given us instead of the other unnecessary added scenes 🙏

i also really like that the drama also added the part where she runs after him before stopping herself midway without him knowing after she tells him she hates him bothering her during the rainy day separation scene ;_______; all the tears and pain

the drama has also done some really good things by adding more scenes when they were in high school to flesh out their relationship back then which i appreciate!!

yep should be later this week if they revert back to 2 eps per day!! except just know their dating era early on is quite innocent as technically it's both their first relationships and yifan is still learning how to be proactive but soon after that it will be worth it

just be warned their early dating era is very innocent haha their first proper (passionate) kiss actually doesn't happen until ch 56ish so will be a bit longer but i did see a BTS clip that i think corresponds to that particular kiss so i dont think we will be disappointed ^^

ep 2 intro is when they first met at school (so 8 years to present day)
ep 1 intro is when they separated on the day college entrance exams results came out, so that was later on hence the 6 year gap to present day

there's 85 chapters of the novel, as of ep 12 we are currently on ch 38. as the rate of progression is about 3-4 chapters per episode and since they start dating on ch 48 it's should be soon

however. they have added a few random scenes lately so my guess is they will stretch it out to ep 16-18 maybe..... but either way this still means we will get their dating era next week !

in that case then why aren't you calling sang yan out for doing the same thing back then? even if she wasn't drunk back then, it's quite the double standards to think that MCY had plans to assault yifan in this manner

wtf...... i get that we all disliked that scene and found it an error on the scriptwriters part, but your mindset is literally the definition of victim blaming. even if she lets him into her apartment willingly, it's would never be her fault at all if he assaults her???

? i wouldn't call her stupid. you can see she tries to call out to him but he runs away too quickly. anyway this drama likes the use of flashbacks to showcase scenes in a different light or to explain things, so im hoping they'll show a different scene next episode detailing further why she let him up to the apartment

i was a bit annoyed at it since it was actually nice to see in the novel that yifan had a genuine guy friend who didnt have any romantic motives towards her and XL only said stuff because he was just a lil shithead to sang yan hahaha, and the love triangle in general just felt quite forced/out of the blue. but at least we got to see the cute friendship moment between siqiao and yifan because of it though and it looks to be over now that XL has moved overseas again ^^

yes hopefully MCY leaves soon but worried as i know he hangs around yifan on and off and they probably are going to use him to stir even more trouble in the drama adaptation

zhai xiao wen is also under wajijiwa too which is probably why they expanded on the love triangle aspect too re: XL. like adding your actors to the project is fine as long as they are necessary, but when they originally had a pretty great source and now adding useless scenes that are actually more detrimental to the plot progression is pretty annoying to say the least. really hoping the last scene was just a red herring and MCY gets punted out of the apartment asap...

i just realised the actor for MCY is under wajijiwa which is the production house for this drama so it makes soo much sense now why he's getting all these extra scenes... the last one in particular never happened in the novel and is soooo unnecessary... but whilst i dislike the situation, i also don't think anyone should be blaming yifan for not saying an immediate no because that's honestly just victim blaming. she has already been very professional even cold in declining any of his other advances and walked away from him before - MCY is the one to blame here in taking advantage of her.
