probably to showcase she still has innate bravery and fire within her under all her passivity and emotional trauma. that's why when the reporter asked her how she was so fearless she couldn't really answer and said it was a gut reaction. likely they'll continue to develop her character to break through from the person she was reduced to after the initial assault

Adding my two cents - if we consider yifan’s POV, I can totally understand why she is clueless or doesn't believe sang yan would still like her lol

examples:
1) she really hurt him in the past and thinks he still holding a grudge against her
2) man pretended to not recognize her during their reunion
3) told her it was a detour when she asks him for a ride home
4) he sometimes grunts or straight up ignores her when she greets him or asks questions
5) tells her to repay her sleepwalking behavior debt
6) 98% of what he has bought or done for her has been under the guise of excuses
etc etc

from her conversation with siqiao she already has low self esteem issues and thinks that sang yan deserves someone who is the best who can love him passionately (she thinks she's not good enough), so even though the audience knows all the things sang yan has ever done for her and he’s just a teasing menace, she probably can't imagine why sang yan would still has feelings for her and that she’s just a burden to him... man, both of them really just need some F2F open verbal communication lol

hmm i think pinocchio has been rumoured for a long time now right? probably unlikely to happen if it's been shelved there for this length of time but it would be nice for him and ruonan to work together again in the future bc their chemistry has been great ^^

anyway he's filming mobius right now with janice man!! reset was fun and interesting to watch so i'm really intrigued in this one too since it's also a time loop/time manipulation type concept

i think taking out certain scenes like this can be okay especially if it starts becoming a bit controversial but yeah it does start to question where the line will be drawn - at least it's not as severe of a case as love of the divine tree (still airing), the editing team actually completely changed the sequence of the narrative and moved ep 3 to ep 1 position because people complained the jump between the current and past life timeline was too confusing. not sure how they managed implement such a big change..

in the drama, she wore it after seeing sang yan pass her likely not wanting to be recognised

ohhh that's interesting to know. i heard some chinese viewers complained about the amount of harassment yifan seemed to be dogpiled with and the director (?) apologised and said they will take care with future eps. i didn't realise they would also go back and edit parts either. hopefully it won't affect the flow of the story, though yifan getting flashed was not in the novel and pretty unnecessary so im happy they took it out

i suppose never say never but i imagine bjt is well aware of his age and it will soon be difficult for him to play a believable high schooler. yeah it's a shame because modern idol dramas don't tend to require as much acting prowess so less likely there will be as good of a script and experienced actors tend to veer away from these projects, but i reckon he could definitely still do university era roles for a while though!

actually yes HL drama did change the age gap from 7 years to 5 years from the novels that's why sang zhi is supposed to look younger both in the flashbacks and the present time in TFF, but TFF drama also changed the fact that sang zhi was not supposed to really be talking to djx during this time as i mentioned above

djx really doesn't appear much at all in TFF novel version - only some references as sang yan's uni friend, and then during the time when sang zhi and djx already get together in her uni days

if i recall correctly, the novel HL is based off has it that sang zhi flew to yihe in like grade 11 aka 16 years old and then she slowly starts to cease contact with djx for like 2 years until she meets him again in her first year of college so before the events of present timeline TFF

but in this drama, you can see she is still eager to talk to djx even though she's already in her last year of high school and choosing unis meaning she is supposed to have cut contact with djx during this time so i think they tampered with the timeline a bit to give djx more screentime

also did anyone else see in the preview when she pretended she was sleepwalking and consciously hugged sang yan, her eyes were glistening with tears as if she finallllly let herself do this one little thing after such a long time not knowing if she can do it again

the way that yifan originally "met" djx was after her and sy had already started dating and was looking at sy's uni graduation yearbook and ended up staring too long (by sang yan's standards) at djx making him grumpy as hell and yifan replied that she was just wanting to see what her ~love rival~ looked like and jokingly brought up the rumours of the gay campus boyfriends which i think would have actually been a much cuter and just as funny scene (along with the fact that djx wouldn't have to physically be there in their apt)

i do feel like the drama seems to have added a few more scenes to boost certain actors' screen time so not sure if it's the scriptwriter or the production house's fault for this ><

yeah it is random. the homeless man and mu cheng yan being there in that scene is similar to the novel but yifan actually goes there to work and report on the guy flashing people and doesn't actually get harassed herself so yeah it was strange they changed it for the drama. also mu cheng yan will show up as an intern at her company, so they could have just cut the scene out completely and it wouldn't matter considering they also added him to the part outside the supermarket [shrugs] maybe they wanted to give the in real life actor more things to do ...

my heart goes splat every time thinking about the reason for sang yan's fake nonchalant idgaf attitude in present day is purely because yifan once told him to stop bothering her so all he can do is pretend not to know her when they reunited for the first time after 8 years, act like he doesnt care about her and only secretly take care of her using excuses and is just patiently waiting for her to make the first move to give him permission to openly love her again ahhhh

honestly i do agree that those scenes are the weakest in the show and the thing is they weren't even in the novel or were written far differently so not sure why they did even added them in..

but the aunt going to yifan's office does make sense because the aunt has now found out that yifan is finally back in town (she recently moved from yihe) and the mom only knows yifan's workplace not her home address so it's their only option to meet her.

in asian culture filial piety is a very big concept and so the aunt thinks yifan is ungrateful for not getting back in touch and thinks that because she helped raised yifan (though she was absolutely dog shit at it) means that yifan needs to return the favour now and help out their family (aka when she said yifan should contribute to her cousin's house) and offers to intro her to guys likely so she can marry someone that their family can benefit from

i also don't like how yifan has to go through so many harassing situations but i don't necessarily think it's completely unrealistic. there are a lot of terrible people in this world and statistically victims of sexual assault have a higher chance of being exposed to certain situations and even get assaulted again. but i saw somewhere that apparently some fans in china complained about it and the director apologised and mentioned he will take care for future episodes (not sure if this means he will edit it or what so we'll see!)

they definitely have quite fresh faces! happily surprised that BJT can pull off still playing a high schooler considering he's 31 irl hahaha but he said post TFF this is likely his retirement from campus dramas

just because they didn't physically kiss or hug back then or say they were boyfriend or girlfriend doesn't invalidate the time they spent together and the memories they created.

yifan was going through a really hard time after her father passed away and being shunted from one family member to another feeling rejected and not being allowed to do her one passion which was dancing but sang yan was the one that was constantly always there for her and even found her a place where she could dance to her heart's content. they were each other's first love and whilst sure the idea of unforgettable first loves can be a bit of a farfetched romantic fantasy i can see how meeting again can dredge up old feelings and angst because she really hurt his feelings and both didnt really get the proper closure they really needed to fully put everything in the past

actually the drama changed timelines to match current day 2025. and they were about 16-17 when Yifan transferred schools so if you add 8 years to that, the present day timeline is when they are about 24-25 years old.

and they released that their official birth year in the drama is 2000 :) so since SY's birthday just passed he is 25 and YF won't turn 25 until Oct
