I actually like Against the Current more than POJ. There are no wasted plots and screen time in ATC and the script has been so tight and logical and the pacing is just right. Every arc has just taken a right amount of the time to unfold then moving on to the next. Right timing, no rush and no drag. Excellent directing from the drama director. So far, after ep16, still loving it and wanting more every day!

The third sister who looks timid because she was born from a concubine but share the same father of Lin Jin Qi. The second sister who acts very spoiled and head-strong was born from Lin Jin Qi's uncle and aunt, an official wife, not a concubine so naturally the third sister has a lower family status . Look the way the second sister talking to the 3rd sister is so rude. The fourth sister is the bio-sister to Lin Jin Qi, sharing the same father and mother.

My guess, only my guess, is that the third sister is looking out for herself because her mom, a concubine, already passed away. She actually is very smart and observant. She's trying to get the marriage to the marquis from the 2nd sister since the 2nd sister has done something disgraceful to herself and the family. The 3rd sister doesn't mind marrying to older man, maquis, since becoming a wife of a marquis gives her a social status that a girl who is born from a concubine will never dream of it!

EP 16 is still going strong. The script has remained tight and logical and the plots are not stagnant and continue to hook the viewers. The ML starts paying attentions on the intelligence of the FL and trusts her.

Thank you for the stats. I wish that Netflix(U.S.) picked up this drama so more international viewers can enjoy a C-drama with a well written script, intriguing plots and a wonderful cast ensemble.

Lin Xiu Ru (the third sister, Lin Jinqi's half sister) has to look out for herself because her mother passed away so she learns to be observant and guarded. She has realized something fishy about the Du siblings but I don't think she has a concrete evidence. Even she does, is she willing to come forward to reveal it and against the Du siblings?

Asking for her and her parents to be free from being slaves.

Tan Song Yun really brings her A-game to this drama. The support cast is solid but her acting is fabulous. A little, subtle body language, tilt of her head so slightly that she still remains respectively as a maid but she observes and scans the hidden dangers around her.
