I agree with a lot of viewers that the last two episodes were rushed and didn’t get that big closure that was…
indeed, I don't know why the screenwriter who had done a great job for nearly the entire drama then dropped the ball in the final acts. There was so much to show, explain and yet solittle was delivered to give viewers a totally satisfactory ending.
I felt that the ending was so rushed, I just needed one more episode before the ending , just to see how they…
That's what I thought too, an adaption that is far more superiore that the original novel: addition of characters, new events and changes of sequence that made a very convincing, relatable pacing of the drama However it fails to satisfy viewers with a rushed ending and unnecessary deaths that the novel itself did not overlook. Rushed, superficial ending has always been the Achilles heel of Chinese dramas since the longest time, when will they ever learn...
I have watched many episodes more times than I can count, I then started the book which is superseded by the adaption in drama by a long short. I tried to move on to dramas currently aired now but they couldn't hold my attention. OMG...
Don't forget all the expressions of all the generals, also part of it lolTheir expressions are so funny when they…
Very entertaining indeed, to think that not all the generals are in the novel, and that scene, that event is not in the novel too, at least not up to chapter 109 which I am at now. Not even ZhaTao (the maid, whiwas supposed to marry Wei Liang in the drama).
totally understand, Besides rewatching, I have started reading the novel online (the adaptation in drama is way better, the creation of characters, the sequencing, new events are much more enjoyable and relatable). In addition, am also listening to that audio of the novel posted by a YouTube blogger..This is to say how much I am addicted to this drama, nothing else is of interest to me at this moment, not even legend of zang hai.
TPOB has raised my standards so high that every other drama pales in comparison now. I haven't been able to enjoy…
Totally understand. I am so reluctant to leave this drama that I have even started earnestly reading the novel, putting faces to the characters in the book. must say the screenplay is so so better.
Finished watching for the second time, and since yesterday I started reading the original novel, seriously I mean, chapter after chapter. It gives me a particularly fulfilling feeling when I put faces in the characters in the novel which, I must say again, got beaten bad by the screen play that has changed events and modified seguence for the better. I have heard the novel has spared the death of Wei Liang and the sister, I guess it is one of the reasons why I go back back to the novel, because I want them to live and, hopefully, find a more "clever" Bi Zhi. P.S. with the new series on air after this drama, I choose to spend my time reading thoroughly the novel, not wanting to leave Prisoner of Beauty, this is how much I love it.
So much love and respect in your words for this fine piece of work brought to us by true professionals. To me…
Indeed, I do think their deaths are anticlimactic , they don't make the drama better. It would have been more impressive and satisfactory if the screenplay tells how Wei Liang gets away, how the big sister's jump is broken, how the troop or good willed citizens stop the blowing up of the canal. I wish I had a weibo account so that I could "rant" about it in their official page.
I'm not saying goodbye to this wonderful family here yet, more like thanking everyone here who has shared the…
So much love and respect in your words for this fine piece of work brought to us by true professionals. To me the screenplay adaption is one of the best in the recent years. I have read most of the novel and do think the drama adaption is so much more relatable, consisten pacing and respectful to the characters. As you said, there are shortcomings in this drama, to me it lies blatantly in the final battle, it was delivered superficially, especially the blowing up of the canal that would drown everything and everyone that stands in it's course not only didn't happen, as the villain said it would, but explanation to why it didn't take place was never provided, it is a big failure of the script, perhaps the only that really matters.I so appreciate all the characters in the drama, from the main cast down to the two mayors who were given charge of the construction of the canal. I love the dialogues, the directing, the costumes, the pairing of Liu Yuling with Lorraine Song, what a perfect match. There are so many good things in this drama to talk about non stop, I only wish there would be a couple more of episodes that explain and depict better the final battle, and yes not killing off Wei Liang, let him live, and when the big sister jumped off the wall, her mighty husband managed to stop her fall and catch her. Yes, what a perfect ending it would be
Just came back here to say that I love so many characters in this drama, the last but not the least, the two mayors who were also in charge of the construction of the canal, they died to take the stand against the evils with honour and courage... I wish this drama would have a couple more episodes, so it could depict the last battle better, for example what happened to the plan of blowing up the canal, drowning every state, everyone in its path? Those were the last words of the villain before his death.
I'm more confused... whose brother/son is Qiao Ci supposed to be? Earlier in the drama, Qiao Man and Qiao Ci call…
Qiao Ci is the brother of Manman, they are both children of the prefect who has gone blind. The governor is in fact their uncle. They call each other as if they were siblings because of how closely they are related.
Solid 10 out of 10 for me. This is so good, the bittersweet is perfect. I cried a little at the bamboo forrest…
Couldn't agree more, a beautiful screenplay and brilliant directing. The side characters are given time to shine, not only the 4 brothers. All roles big and small came together and have delivered a drama that won't be forgotten.
The drama leaves me crying and smiling. I would have loved e few more episodes. However it is the best I have seen lately. I shall watch it over and over again in the course of time. The story, the cast, costumes, cinematography, a consistent narrative with good pacing, never a doubt moment, a great pleasure.
Your time zone should be GMT+2, then you are no more a little more than 2 hrs from the drop of express package…
Sure, I have been waiting too but reluctant to say goodbye to this drama. I shall miss it but will certainly watch it again in the course of time. Just love how the screenplay is written, so much better than the novel that has "second life" elements for a start, then the characterizations of the people, especially the main cast, are much more defined in the drama. The only complaint I have is the script makes Wei Liang and the big sister die, which I hate so much. Cdramas always want to draw tears, and avoidable too, from viewers.
