He somehow gives off the vibe of Kpop idols, but at the same time has a very unique and distinct aura that Kpop…
yes, many netizens are so toxic and like to turn everything into a gender battle these days. I normally never follow any actors, and forget about them after a drama. But if I see sth special in them that keeps triggering my interest, I would become a fan. He Yu is the only one that managed to do that. If the actor does a good job, I'll watch their other works and interviews to learn more about them. His personality is so cute, generous and goofy, has a nice sense of humor. His smile is so contagious and make me happy when looking at him. His MBTI is ENFJ I believe, so he's extroverted. But sometimes, he's quiet with people he's not close with, but he stays polite. He has a strong sense of boundaries in professional settings.
The character of Jin Zhao is actually quite complex and hard to play. If the acting is not right, it's so easy to become "oily" or give off an overly pretentious, trying to be too cool vibe. But He Yu's delivery avoided all those. His execution was so on point. I'm so happy with that because he never played any roles with this kind of personality before, yet he successfully challenged himself and handled it very well. Just like the scriptwriter said, he's the god-chosen Jin Zhao.
Before Jin Zhao, he personally named Ye Ding Zhi as his lifetime role. Now he has two lifetimes roles. I trust that his Xiao Hua Yong will be his third, and he will keep having more later on. I believe in him. I hope he gets to play a soldier role someday, he has huge respect for the military and soldiers. His vibe and physical appearance would fit so well.

I like his looks because I genuinely think he's handsome. I never really associated him with someone else's visuals. But I see that some netizens always compare him to others, and a few times, posts like those on Red Note got the fans of other idols/ actors to attack He Yu.
There's one scene in Dashing Youth that made me an instant fan. On episode 14, when his character Ye Ding Zhi washes his face after practicing martial arts was breath-taking for me. There's also another scene later, when he carries his son one arm and a sword in his other hand. The way he walks through the forest was so charismatic. There were lots of fan edits about some of his most classic moments in the drama.
C nets have their own standards and preferences in male actors' visuals. They can be quite harsh on those who do not fit the norm. But I happen to like what is unique and distinctive. There's something about He Yu that makes him really appealing as an actor. It's more than just looks. I'm taking about his whole vibe and aura as a person. He's super versatile, casually able to switch between very manly/ ruffian energy to cute school boy feel. He has a very distinctive youthful aura that I don't see in other actors. His behaviors and mannerisms also show a lot of duality, which reflect well on his acting and the characters he portrays. If you've watched enough of his works, you'll see the range of his acting and how much he improved since debut. His acting and line delivery in SAL was great and so fitting of the character Jin Zhao. Many non-fans were impressed by his eye acting, the details and subtleness in the way he conveys emotions.
I forgot the exact time when he became adidas ambassador because I was mostly just focusing on his works then. He loves analyzing his characters in depth. From my observation, He Yu used to be very cheerful, loves to smile when he first debuted. In his older videos, he would still joke around casually with fans. However, C ent is quite harsh. He experienced a few episodes of cyberbullying. Some netizens directly insults him on his social media accounts like Weibo, Dou Yin (aka TikTok). So he's more cautious and matured now. But he's a strong person, he knows how to take care of himself. He has a very carefree personality. When he doesn't smile, he can come across as aloof, which can make people misunderstand him. He prioritizes comfort for his cloths. He loves sports and outdoor activities, so I won't be surprised if he wore adidas before.
for me it was dashing love, i discovered He Yu and Neo Huo there. He is so handsome.
You should, although the drama has its issues and he's SML doesn't have a lot of screentime, his character as Ye Ding Zhi was great. It's his first role that increased his popularity in 2024. I would also recommend Sword and Fairy too because the fight scenes were much better. These two are my favorite from his period dramas.
Drama adaptations are rarely 100% identical to original novels, which is why they are called adaptations. Even…
He Yu and Bao Shang En are equal billing here. He's not above her. The drama's official Weibo account was very clear about that. Whether this adaptation will be successful rests mainly on the scriptwriter/author. The last I checked, He Yu's filming schedule was only 6 days this month, which is not a lot of screentime for the ML. So, can't say for sure that the female-centric plot will turn into a completely different story now. We'll see when it gets released in 2027.
He Yu has good acting skills, so we just need a good plot and a well-written FL character to secure viewership. This director previously worked with HY on another project. We'll also see how that turns out later this year, but I haven't heard anything bad about him.
The main problem is C drama land has been doing poorly for years now. The drama market is going downhill. The current crew is considered A tier only, not S or S+. If there's sth to worry about, it would be the budget of this drama. It can affect the quality of the production. Yet, the actors are the ones facing all the hate and criticisms, especially He Yu. I feel bad too, cause it's not the actors' fault if the production company can't provide better or if the scriptwriter doesn't do justice to her own story.
Why are they doing this to my favorite webnovel? :( The main character is a woman, why is it a man in the series?
Drama adaptations are rarely 100% identical to original novels, which is why they are called adaptations. Even if it's a female centric story, male characters can still exist right? The ML is important in the FL's plot, it's not like they added a whole new character that didn't exist. Besides the original author is the scriptwriter for this drama. It's unlikely that she will make the FL weak.
Another factor to consider is that the actress alone isn't enough to carry the drama, so the production team needs both actors because this is a collaborative project between their respective companies. They're still in the filming process, they only started a few days ago. It's too early to judge right now.
It's so interesting to me how popular he's in Korea especially....I see so many Korean fanpages of him on Twitter…
He somehow gives off the vibe of Kpop idols, but at the same time has a very unique and distinct aura that Kpop idols don't have. I think this is what makes him so appealing to the some international audience. But in his country, his visuals are very underrated. Many C netizens call him average, some even call him ugly cause he's not the conventional type of handsome boy by Chinese beauty standards. So, he doesn't consider himself handsome either. But he would be really happy if someone praises his characters and say he looks handsome while acting. If he were to debut in Korea as an actor, I think he would gain popularity faster than in his home country.
Because looking at his upcoming projects, he only got 2 dramas where he is the ML. BOP is the only chance for him to secure a better future in the industry. He needs continuous success to prove his worth as ML to secure the hype and strengthen his solo fandom. His C fandom is still too weak and disorganized. SAL alone is not enough cause it technically didn't do well in China. He needs a work that is very successful domestically. Otherwise he won't be able to reach higher quality projects and resources later. If he doesn't blow up within the next 2 years, it's gonna be even harder for him to rise in the future cause he's not young anymore.
BOP is his first ever project where the crew and cast are more superior. Reborn of the Rightful has less funding in comparison. So, if he has a chance to blow up and move up to higher ranking as an actor, it would be BOP. Therefore, I would say that his future heavily relies on its success domestically.
I hope He Yu gets more Brand sponsorships because he has the face for it, have you seen him at the Brunello Cucinelli…
Tbh, all C ent companies are kinda shitty one way or another. Even if he packs up and leave the current company, he might not end up being better than now. It's not that easy to establish your own studio or to find your own resources.

Don't know the exact date. But probably not any time soon. He's just starting to gain fame, so he will be another cash cow for the company if he can maintain the hype. They won't let him go right now.
what do you mean?? what are you trying to imply here?
I swear... sometimes I feel like ppl on the Internet are way too young or sth. Judging without knowing anything. He's literally practicing for the scene in the drama. Jin Zhao is a character that smokes a lot according to the novel, so he's just following the script. In the drama, he only had 1 scene so they toned it down a lot already. Besides, even if actors smoke in real life, so what. I've been following He Yu for a while now, I rarely seen him smoke. He's doing it moderately, not to the point of damaging his health and affecting his work. He's an adult, he can look after himself. He also never pretended to have a perfect persona. Some ppl can't separate character from real life person is just ridiculous... same thing goes for the CP. Just because they acted as lovers, some think they're actually dating lol... meanwhile, the actors are moving on with other projects and coworkers.
The FL was using her personal clothing in this drama like most of the time lol. It's her own style and choice. She has some very mature clothing and styling too. It changes according to the scenes.
I hope He Yu gets more Brand sponsorships because he has the face for it, have you seen him at the Brunello Cucinelli…
Good luck with that lol, unlike the rumors, his company never promoted him properly for all these years. He kept auditioning and fight for opportunities himself to get roles. They didn't even protect him when he got hate, cyberbullied and slandered by haters and other fandoms. His fans are constantly mad at the company, and advocate for him, but they never respond.
He actually had minor fame back in 2024 for one of his supporting roles, as Ye Ding Zhi, but his company didn't promote him properly, he disappeared after the drama and that let the hype died down. I just hope things are gonna be different this time.
He Yu just hit 1 million followers on Ig @1k_happy 😊 It's the perfect New Year's gift! Congratulations to He Yu and dedicated Islands. Let's keep going uphill from now on!
I’m so glad He Yu’s hard work has gotten recognition and I got to know about him. I read on XHS that this…
Yah, he was cyberbullied and harassed for months on all his social media accounts. I've been there since the beginning of this project, saw the whole thing happening. His fandom was even smaller back then, his fans have no way to defend him. There were lots of defamations and slanders about his company/ agent. But we now know that he got the role because the scriptwriter noticed him on Dou Yin (Chinese version of Tik Tok). She asked to meet him in person, then she immediately thought that he's the guy to play Jin Zhao. She wants a new face male actor who can portray the duality of a high school sweetheart and a rough man at the same time. She couldn't find the right casting choice for a long time until He Yu. But even then, he went to audition before he finally got the role. He earned it himself, nothing to do with company/ agent connections. He was offered to audition on WECHAT.
