On Speed and Love Dec 22, 2025
Jin Zhao is a very complex character. Ever since he was young, he lacks love and stability in life. He's been constantly told that he's unwanted/ not important in the family. This is particularly obvious when he said he never knew his own birthday, only knows Mumu's. Even later on, he's been told by the mother that he needs to stay away from Mumu. So, the idea of being unworthy or not good enough is deeply ingrained in his mind. This is not something that can easily changed just because the FL reciprocates his feelings. That's why he feels the need to constantly prove his worth, so he agrees to work for the police to clear his past despite the danger. He wants to make sure that he is worthy of being loved.

Also, some people underestimate the effects of trauma. JZ is a person who is extremely active when he was healthy. Car racing, boxing, working out, playing basketball, etc., are all part who he is as a person. It's literally his identity. But he loses a lot of that after the accident. Going from a healthy active lifestyle to being bed bound and very limited physical ability can be a huge emotional shock. He loses a big part of who he used to be. Not to mention, he has to deal with a lot pain during recovery. Pain itself has very detrimental effects on a person's mind. He can't even take good care of himself when he hasn't fully recovered. This further convinces him that he needs to let go of Mumu, not holding her back. He also said that even after he got a bit better physically, he struggles to settle down. Because of all these reasons, he thinks he can't give Mumu a good life, so she would be better off without him.

JZ is not a coward, he is actually brave and responsible enough to understand that love is not about possessing/ clinging onto that person, sometimes it's about learning how to let go. As long as she is happy, he can accept it even if it's not with him. Besides Mumu's mother was very sick at the time, he didn't want to force her to choose between family and him. So, he made the choice to suffer on his own. If he had told her the truth, Mumu will be very torn and he hates for that to happen. I think He Yu did a great job portraying Jin Zhao, all the subtle expressions and emotions are well conveyed.

No thats not fair..!!!!! This handsome devil always makes her cry. Why does he keep running away from the situation…
Because his health suffered great trauma as a result of the accident. He is much weaker physically and mentally exhausted. He didn't think he was good enough for her. On top of all the hardships and trauma in the past, it's hard to not think the way he does.

Is it just me or the script kind of... cringe and stupid at times? o.o
I feel like that's kind of the original novel's fault. The drama already added a lot of exciting elements, like they made the FL stronger, capable of fighting, dancing, singing, car racing, being a navigator and having knowledge of cars in general. But in the novel, the FL doesn't do any of that. They also added the character Lin Sui (played by Mike) whereas this character doesn't even exist in the novel. I'm not even sure if FL's friend, Nana exists too in the novel. I mean... the book's plot was mostly just FL slowly discovering the ML's story with lots of romance in between.

The ending of episode 16 is lacking a big slap on male lead's face, i don't get why it's so hard for male leads…
Imagine if you were in his shoes, if you work undercover for a mission, would you just spill all the details to your loved ones just because you ran into them? This could put them in more danger than not knowing. If you watch enough police/ detective shows, you would know that undercover agents keep their mouths sealed even if it causes misunderstanding in their personal lives. They're not doing this just for dramatic effect.

is jin zhao’s scar below his eyes part of his character? or he yu himself has a scar on his face? i find it…
He Yu has a real scar under his eye, just like the character Jin Zhao in the novel. He got it when he was young for tripping on a broken vase or sth. Whoever casted him for this role is genius. I've so rarely seen any actors match their role so perfectly. He knows all the skills that JZ knows whether it's boxing, car racing or motocycles. He physically looks like him too, tall and muscular, ruffian energy. Looking tough but also able to be gentle and vulnerable at the same time.

He might be just acting/ playing a undercovering role for a mission, we knew from before that he was secretly…
We shall see what happens in the next episodes, but if it's really an undercover mission, it's normal that he wouldn't tell anyone. If I was in the middle of a mission and doing something I would normally not do, but happen to run into someone I know, I would react the way he does too. In the novel, I believe he is an informant or sth for the police if I remember correctly. But I understand that it's hard from Mumu's perspective if she wasn't warned ahead. But that's why police officers or undercover agents in general never tell their friends and families when they go on mission. It can be hard to explain.

He might be just acting/ playing a undercovering role for a mission, we knew from before that he was secretly collaborating with someone or working for someone in the races and boxing matches. He wouldn't do things without purpose.

Yes, he's a very dedicated actor and not afraid to learn new skills for his roles every time. He knows much more. I think that's why he was casted as Jin Zhao other than having the matching ruffian energy.

I usually notice Good acting or Bad acting, anything in the middle i don't mind it, and here, He Yu breathes life…
totally agree with you! I'm so glad you noticed about his eye acting, it's always been one of his many talents actually. He is so good at conveying those subtle and quiet but intense emotions. His eyes speak more than words, which is really the core of Jin Zhao. He's also improved a lot over the years. I'm so proud of him and the fact that more people are acknowledging his acting skills. I'm so seated for his historical drama Blossoms of Power with Meng too.

you're not alone, I think he has a very soothing voice. He can go low but still remain authoritative, or can go super soft and gentle.

Yah I know it's hard to find much on him, when I first got into him, it also took me a while to gather unbiased and accurate info about him. He's very underrated despite being in the C industry for a long time. But I never regret spending time getting to know him. He's a great person and has a lot of potential as an actor. If you can understand Chinese, you might find some of his interviews on Billibili. That's how I got to know him a lot more. I also follow his assistant account and some of his fans' accounts on Red Note app to get updates about him.

He's actually an extrovert. He's been described as friendly, loyal and generous by his friends/ costars. He has great chemistry with all his costars, regardless males or females. When he's with ppl he's close with, he's very talkative. He's a very smart and dedicated actor as well. He likes to critically analyze his characters in depth in his interviews, and offer insights that audience might not think of. He's a fast learner and not afraid to learn new skills for his roles. He has many talents, including boxing, car racing, motorcycles and many other sports. He likes working out. So, his fighting scenes are usually great in his dramas, whether modern or period.

Omg He Yu does not disappoint. He's literally perfect for the role of Jin Zhao. His acting is very natural. Also... what's up with the ratings? I swear a few minutes ago, it was still above 8? only 6 episodes out and it's getting this low? No way...

Interesting...I once saw a drama reviewer said the exact same thing about her acting. She believed Blossom's success has a lot to do with director Zeng Qing Jie who knows how to use camera effectively and is great at shooting romantic scenes. Plus the script is better than average idol period dramas. So, the actors really lucked out with that project. We shall see if they can achieve the same success with a different director in this one.

godddd I cannot wait for this to come out.... He Yu is so spicy cute and one of the best onscreen kissers out…
Agree with you! He Yu is a very versatile actor. His acting and looks are so underrated. Comedic characters are really hard to pull off actually, but he did a great job in Legend of Shenli. He has good chemistry with everyone, both male and female actors so he easily nails romance dramas. When I hear his role in SAL involves boxing and motorcycle/cars, I was so excited and the ML's description in the book matches him perfectly. Watching this just for him! He deserves a role that suits him. He looks great in the Reuters, hopefully it will show up nice on screen as well.🤞

Title All Rise
The episode where Huang Yue stole Guo Xiao Yu's idea for a group project (using the animation website) because she was too eager to win, but she caused Xiao Yu to almost give up the competition and misunderstood Ren Xiao Tong. I don't remember if Huang Yue ever properly apologized, or received any penalty for plagiarism. But later on, Wang Lu plagiarized on a test and he had to leave the competition... like I get that Wang Lu chose to leave on his own cause he was ashamed, but at least he showed remorse and learned from his lesson . But Huang Yue never showed remorse for plagirizing Xiao Yu. Am I missing sth? Plot hole or it's kinda unfair...? Between 2 cheaters, I would probably prefer Wang Lu to stay cause at least he seems more competent...
