I like YXW/LSS as a character overall.. her actions from start to finish made sense to me given how she showed early on just how resolute she is with what she does that she could willingly sacrifice her life and love just to save the world😭 it's just that after this ep, of course the focus of the drama shifts to TTJ's changes, so we kinda lost this charm of hers. If there was something the drama lacked, it was to tell LSS's journey to godhood properly and completely too, because this story is both TTJ and her transformation too..

Great analogy with the Jew and Hitler.. yeah her dilemma really is like that so i couldn't blame her if every now and then she'd flare up at TTJ since she never really worked out her trauma anytime during her mortal life... and even in the immortal one, esp considering she only got a few weeks, months or years to meditate in the peaceful Changze realm when all hell broke loose again...
only when she ascended to godhood did she resolve it.

Why indeed?? 😅 a mystery only the scriptwriters can answer....yeah, combining novel TTML and TTMH was just to lessen the villain count... drama TTML and Fuyu's backstory was hastily put together at those eps when they attacked the city together to sort of explain why they were still together, and probably to make a CP out of them....? (I'm also wondering what for?) But they were too little too late... if the drama was 100 eps in all, maybe we would have known.🤣

Fuyu(TTML's ..erm...witch)'s storyline with TTML is a mystery we only have a hint at right when she is about to die.. the hint is like she likes him secretly(?) coz she looks at him with longing when she falls after PR defeats her (ep26 i think?)

Manifesting that director's cut!!🤣 We got the "Hao ah" on loop, so this will be the second wish🤣

It really was an overwhelming burden, and she was even thrown in with so little guidance (hello to literally feeling every bone in TTJ's body to find the evil bone🤣), that it takes 10 episodes to get her on the right path to do her mission properly.. 😮‍💨

8. Reminds me...so all magical artifacts contain its owner/creator's spirit? Maybe the SJ in the WAJ is the evil obsessed with revenge spirit who doesn't care about MY's sacrifice that's why she is mocking YXW ...

Much as I was obsessed with TTJ on the first comment, I also have to mention YXW here...
...when she remembered to write her father and grandmother because they might be worried, and putting in lies about traveling the Jing kingdom, even if they weren't her real family, she grew attached to them and cared about them so much. (Btw, where did she get the money fromto pay for the letter carrier and her outfit?)
...she is rough on TTJ because her last encounter with him wasn't really that friendly, but her caring nature naturally shines through as she cares for TTJ, however taciturn and aloof he might be, and of course even if she didn't exactly have a good opinion of him at all.
...her words tho at the hut really show how she only considers saving TTJ as her mission to keep the DG alive while she researches how to find and destroy the devil bone (btw, the stick fight they have while talking is so childish but funny)... when she saw him trying to take PR's powers, and of course when he imprisoned her at the boat, I think she gave up turning him into a good mortal (aaargh why didn't she see him succeed at the Sketch charm???🤯) at that point (of course later she'd have doubts again)
...when she heard him say he killed lan'an, she hit him because at that point she thought only of lan'an being the only caretaker who cared about him (yeah, hit first, ask questions later, but then again, he did only say he killed her, then period, with that emotionless look, so she couldn't help but assume the worst, especially with her trauma) but she does it to teach him to be grateful to those who are good to him, and that the little sincere kindness people give him should count for something, as lan'an was trying to tell him... nope, i am not excusing lan'an's betrayal, she deserved to die 😅(double standards much?🤣), and YXW i think agrees as much when she calmed down after realizing how much pain TTJ was in with Lan'an's false hope and betrayal, putting together the clues that lan'an betrayed him to TTML, showing her understanding and empathy about how painful TTJ's life is
...YXW really is a resolute character.. she acts on her beliefs firmly and fearlessly. She needs to save the DG, she does so at the risk of losing her life. She thinks TTJ is deserving to be saved because he had had a hard life, and because she saw that he could also save another person at the risk of his own life, thus she accepts the curse that is intended for him. She transforms TTJ because of her decisiveness in her actions, and because of her kindness and benevolence even towards someone like him. He was changed without her even saying I love you, or being obviously in love with him
..what I wished BL could have included though is the indication that she is blind in one eye because of the WAJ (question: is she blind? Or can she still see out of her left eye because of the power of the WAJ?), so at least throughout the eps until the tower scene, viewers were reminded of it and not be surprised like TTJ during the wedding scene. But still, she held her own against LYX and they complement each other perfectly (his seriousness and her lightheartedness).
Honorable mention: the light colored lenses suit LYX... XL being the hero falls short... the blood on the costume wasn't only from the blood spits, it was on the wrist as well.. Fuyu is the Jing Kingdom's direct wireless line to TTML🤣

This episode is actually my most favorite one of all the 40 eps (second is ep35 hahaha coz😉😉)
For me, it is here that TTJ breaks out of his survival mode and learn how to care for someone else sincerely, and without hesitation to give up your life to save someone else. I think it's here that the seed of selflessness is planted in him, because of what YXW does for him. He really does learn everything there is to know about humanity from YXW: to feed the hungry (from her throwing away the dirty food he was about to eat and giving him full meals after), to be charitable to the needy (when she bought all the fireworks from the poor woman), to choose death instead of a humiliating life (when she jumped from the boat), and of course, to put another's life first before one's own. He couldn't find an ulterior motive in YXW whenever she saves him, so naturally, this leads him to believe in her words, that love is not wanting the other person to die, to see that person everyday, etc, that he also learns how to love. So when she puts herself in the way of the killing curse (avada kedavra, but slower), he learns that you can really choose to die to save someone's life, which he quickly applies when he saves her from Fuyu and the deadly spell. (He's such a quick learner). I love how this episode actually shows and solidifies how TTJ and YXW will be like with each other, that each of them is willing to save the other even at the cost of their own life. A common theme, of course, but this hits more intensely than the other dramas I've watched, but probably because the selflessness comes from an originally and destined to be evil character who allows himself to be changed by love.
If the first episode drew me into its spell, this one tied me up like YXW tied up TTJ.....erm.....i mean caught me up and never let me go until the end of the moon😅

...i wonder if the statue where YXW found the WAJ (or where it found her) was also where MY in dragon form is sleeping?
...Qi Shuang.. you did say you are ready to die for him, sooooo wish granted. Karma is so quick. And TTML makes sense in not keeping dogs that bite their masters hand.
...Moonshadow guards are the best.❤ their loyalty is something else. Nian Baiyu of course has a reason but the others don't, and they still want to find TTJ...
...YXW saves TTJ, again. He notices a ribbon tied to the wrist that he cut. (I actually used this detail and wrote it in the fanfic i was writing, because I found it significantly showing YXW's attempts to keep him alive)
...after Lan'an betrayed him, the cold unconcerned look is back.😔 no matter what YXW said to him, all those words seem not to reach him anymore. He seems not to care about her betrayal and passes off YX and her betrayal as if it was nothing to him but actually he does care and is hurt deeply by it. Look at the way he drags the tip of the stick across his neck. Again, he says everything he feels sincerely with such a cold, emotionless voice that it makes me angry at him and cry for him at the same time... It's okay to feel, Tantai Jin!!! 😭😭😭 He tells YXW to kill him, but really, that was his loneliness and desperation speaking. That's why he seems so puzzled when she tells him his life and death is not his own.. when he decides to roast the fish originally for her (because he thinks he owes him his life), he is again surprised at YXW's answer that it was really for him... because of Lan'an's betrayal, he reverted back to being the cold aloof prince, but because of YXW, he starts caring about his own life again. =is it obvious that I like this scene so much?=
...oh noooo the poison starts to show... and they didn't even get to eat!!!😭
...again, with Lan'an's betrayal, TTJ only sees himself as someone the gods can play with, and he even encourages YXW to take advantage of him and sacrifice him for her own personal gain. But of course, YXW isn't like that, and so, he is surprised again that she is the one sacrificing so he could gain something..and then he looks at the ribbon on his wrist, deciding he should save her. Cue the crows!! (Their banter when hiding from the soldiers behind the tree was so funny)
...aww. the charms.. yeah, you should've taught him something useful, YXW😅
...again, TTJ shows unconcern about his life, but is again confronted with YXW's genuine care for him, hence his worry when YXW runs off to find meds for him
...TTML mentioning crushing his bones with his mother's made me think about Sheng emperor and what he did with his mother's ashes, and surprised me that TTML didn't do anything to it yet, making the Sheng emperor more despicable than TTML
...when he wakes up, and sees YXW is back, TTJ starts having expressive expressions again.😊 LOL YXW is handsy on him again🤣🤣🤣 "Hao ah"🥰😍=SQUEALS= thanks Micha for sharing that clip, I watched it before i watched this and it doubled my excitement when I heard that phrase here😆
...the whole convo about the WAJ was so interesting...TTJ went from teasing, to worried, to matter of fact, then to touched.. definitely feeling emotions now, as his expression now varies from emotion to emotion... it's so fascinationg to see those small expressions convey a lot of emotions👏👏👏 🙇‍♀️🙇‍♀️master LYX

...it was really petty kindness that YX showed.. she simply served TTJ without any sincerity, and caring for him was simply a job for her. Not saying she deserved being abused by Chief Wu, but karma got back at her quicker than expected.
...TTJ would've been the most devoted son to Lan'an if she only didn't betray him.😔
..after liking him in Blue Whisper, I was and still am conflicted about seeing the actor playing TTML play a villain this time.😅 but he did it well😆

(Why does this suddenly make me think of LYX's own situation?)
...Lan'an's betrayal is meaningless and senseless at the same time. Betray your precious princess's son for your daughter? Granted a mother would make that, but wasn't it better to join hands with the son and help him get to the throne so he could help you get your daughter? Hate TTJ because of YX? Did she understand what YX did? So just because they brought them up, they can betray him without any consequence? Mercy for trying to kill him, was that it? Of all the things she said, the only thing that made sense (and see TTJ pick up on it) was that when you love someone, you have an indestructible bond with them.

yeah, I thought the same, that TTJ didn't want to leave Sheng Kingdom because of YXW (though he doesn't want to admit it) given that he flashbacked to YXW's actions... but the desire to be strong and be able to protect himself after knowing that Sheng and Jing emperors are out to get him was stronger.

Yeah, when YXW asked why he didn't marry YBC coz it was an opportunity for him to marry his love (as she thought), TTJ's answer surprised me, that he married her instead to totally destroy OG YXW's despicable plan.. his intentions were actually in a way good - as you said, to punish those who deserve it.

another question is, where did he get the money to buy clothes?? unless that was actually one of YXW's gifts... oh well. a mystery to be unsolved forever.

Now I feel bad that you and Micha see the reason why TTJ returned to this new years is because it was the happiest moment of his life, whereas I see that as his saddest day... am i a drama queen?😅🤣
