Cannot finish this drama. I only got to episode 12, and it got pretty boring. The main characters basically run around the hotel, solving guest's problems. Someone in the background is basically sending these problems to the hotel, trying to tarnish the reputation of the hotel. Initially, it is sort of interesting, but it just gets old. Also, I do not feel the connection between the leads at all. The male lead also says, " I will expel/fire you, if you do not do ....." every episode to the point where it just annoys me. Yes, the drama is about trainees, but the drama does not show why those trainees are willing to suffer under a boss like the ML. The drama shows a bunch of trainees working in the hotel, someone messes up, and he/she getting fired, over and over again... I truly wish this drama was at least a bit more interesting, so I could finish the drama.
These 2 recent episodes made me slam my desk and facepalm super hard. Scenes are so choppy to the point where…
Maybe the writers are at fault here too. In the most recent episode, MoWan is able to enter a city that is completely surrounded by the enemy Southlanders (this took one scene btw). She is also able to come up with ingredients for a medicine to cure the plague within the city (the plague came out of nowhere btw). The two leads are able to send a message out of the surrounded city to the crown prince of Shu for help. The message arrives in the next scene (probably through the usage of teleportation), and the crown prince accepts. This is the same Shu Kingdom that tried to frame JunQing a few episodes ago, since the Shu believes that when the Chu's God of War falls, then the Chu kingdom falls. The Shu Crown Prince magically arrives with a giant army, all before the Southlanders decided to attack the city. Another army also magically appears, Han Jin Yi's army, that somehow arrives at the same moment (no idea where he got his army). In the end, the Southlanders are defeated, but aren't the Southlanders in some kind of amicable relationship with Chu? Princess Han Yue and MoWan/MoXin are close best friends/sisters, and Princess Ting Ting wants to marry JunQing. Did the writers write it this way, or was the drama edited to the point where these flaws exist? While watching this episode, it feels as if my intelligence is being mocked. Of course, dramas make people question this or question that. But some of these plotholes are stupid and should not exist in the first place.
These 2 recent episodes made me slam my desk and facepalm super hard. Scenes are so choppy to the point where some of the scenes don't make any sense. Characters are killed off faster than Game of Thrones, and the leads jump around the world like Game of Thrones season 7-8. If the drama takes place in the 21 Century, then I would completely understand, but this drama is in ancient China, where the fastest transportation is horse riding. This drama started out great, with an amazing storyline and characters. It intrigued me to the point where I stayed up all night on day 1 to watch all 8 released episodes. The story had soul-swapping and a character who has to get revenge, and all this took place in ancient China. But as I watched, this drama just went downhill. Not in terms of writing though. I am sure, if all episodes were not cut, the writers would have the chance to show a complete story. But the drama has been edited to the point where each episode is not coherent.
I decided to drop this drama due to where the story is heading. I really enjoyed the drama during the first few episodes, since I was super excited to see an intelligent, "destined" empress rule the kingdom with the future emperor. But I was super disappointed to see another drama where the two leads are not able to marry one another, like the Promise of Chang An and Renascene. Don't get me wrong. The writing for this drama is a bit better than Renascene and the scenes don't jump around! I just wanted something different than those two dramas, so I'll wait for spoilers to see if I'll come back to this drama.
For those who want to know how this drama is, please read Joyce Chan's review of this drama. Her review pretty much states what I want to say. Also, after every episode, I am not interested to continue watching. Not much happens in this drama other than the FL trying to survive during her probation period. Also, none of the other characters really matter to the story. It hurts me to say this, but I can't even recognize their names and faces when they appear on the screen. Let's use FL's friends for example. They are mostly used as characters with supporting/encouraging dialogue whenever the FL is in trouble. I barely hear their names being called. Only the ML, FL, and the 2ML have the most intriguing story, as the ML and 2ML try to compete with each other for the FL. As a fan of Ma Mengwei, I really wish I could continue watching this drama, but the story doesn't interest me at all. There are a lot of modern romcoms that are out right now. Check out Ma Mengwei's Poisoned Love. That one is funny with an interesting story, great chemistry, and unique characters.
For a while, the emperor did not bother to visit Mingyu due to her coldness towards him and her lack of enthusiasm towards any title/gift. On Mingyu's birthday, the Empress reminds the Emperor that it is Mingyu's birthday and that he should visit her to make her feel happy. As a result, he visits her and they spend the night together. Though it is more like rape, since she is unwilling.
yea for some reason a bunch of new episodes appeared. That might mean for those who watched up to ep36, they might not get the 2 episodes at the usual times.
I don't really think it's a dilemma at all; it's pretty obvious that he should save Mingyu and not Wanyin because…
I think deep down he appreciated what wanyin has done for him and felt bad to what had happened to her. i think there was a split second where he wanted to save the woman who will actually love and care for him.
Episode 36 - The Emperor was put in a dilemma, save wanyin or mingyu. Honestly, this was such a sad moment, since he loves both. MingYu even blames him for not saving WanYin.
I really wished this drama came out before Love and Redemption. Most people, including me, started watching this drama just for ChengYi. But after so many episodes, he is clearly not the main character. The main character of this drama is Mingyu, which is why this drama should have been called "Legend of Helan Mingyu," as QAS said in one of the comments down below. But since we cannot go back in time, I'll just treat this as one of Sifeng's tragic mortal life, minus Xuanji.
