Well, Ming yu knows that if Chengxu declines the marriage, then the king will think that Chengxu does not fully respect his power. It seems that she is trying to help Chengxu as much as possible, without seeming like shes in love with him. But yes, I agree at that part was very frustrating...

These tiny easter eggs make it more entertaining. Especially when she sings the Oh My Emperor Ost.

so why did they decide to show us that she was adopted by her father at the very end of the drama? Did I miss something?

You are super correct that this is a super serious drama. There will be a lot of political infighting between the brothers and nephew. So far, there has not been a happy moment unless you count the first 2-3 episodes of the two main leads being together. But those parts are SUPER RUSHED. Someone mentioned it in one of the comments. In these palace scenarios, a king's brother and the king's wife being together is a BIG NO NO. Also, in the synopsis, that will soon turn to Queen Dowager and King's uncle, which is also a serious offense.
The only "happy" ending is where they both escape and live a peaceful life in the middle of nowhere with different names. Otherwise, I can't see this drama having a happy ending...

This drama is very good though. The acting skills of Cheng Yi is great, and the story itself is definitely worth following.

Why does SiFeng, i mean Cheng Xu, have to suffer in this too? For chinese dramas, I usually decide to watch based on the plot or if I know the female lead. But, Cheng Yi totally changed that. I will follow whereever that man goes.

Wow. Things go pretty quickly in the first few episodes. Also, I think I missed something. Why did Mingyu follow along into the Kingdom of Sheng?

It is somewhat confusing in the first two episodes due to all the different kingdoms and their characters, ie their kings and multiple princes. But im pretty sure the drama will shrink itself to focus on just the Sheng Kingdom later on.

It is starting pretty well. ChengXu, the ML, is a quirky intelligent guy in the story. But that probably will not last, based on the synopsis. Mingyu, the FL, is very intelligent and uses her brain to solve her + other people's problem.

Longstory short, BaiLinDiJun sealed LouHou/MoshaXing's heart into the lamp. I don't want to give away too much because that scene is a must watch.

She remembers in these recent episodes that she loved Sifeng in all her 9 lives. But she loved him after he dies/leaves. She says to Sifeng, that she is capable of loving, but shes just a little slow.

He used his powers to seal Mosha Xing. If he didn't, Xuanji would have killed herself and Mosha Xing.

From I understood, Sifeng used his powers to seal mosha xing, thus making him incredibly weak. His curse is not removed yet, because he did not see Xuanji's true love for him.
