She isn't Shanggu yet, still Houchi. From Houchi's perspective, Bai Jue took away her Qing Mu and refused to give him back, allowed Wu Huan injure her and her baby, which led to Gu Jun sacrificing himself. She lost her husband and father. As much as I didn't like that she stabbed him, it was totally understandable from her POV. If only she would've stabbed Wu Huan as well. But to Houchi, Wu Huan isn't even important enough to be stabbed. (Wu Huan should be tortured)
Edit: Her dialogue in this episode was trending on weibo. All she ever wanted in this life was to be a daughter, a wife and a mom. Bai Jue's return took away all of that.

So I haven't read the novel but I keep thinking all day that maybe this drama is destined to be torturous. Shanggu had to sacrifice herself since she is god of chaos. Imagine if it was Bai Jue who was god of chaos - would Shanggu do the same as what Bai Jue is doing now? I think so. The big boss of this drama is not Wu Huan - it's their ancestor god and the chaos. No matter who sacrifices, one of them will always be left behind and suffer.

I watched up to 43 now. I thought all the crying was done in ep 41 but nope 42 too. Wu Huan better be tortured - don't give her an easy death!

I only finished 41 and am afraid to continue. My eyes already hurt from all the crying after Gu Jun dies. I hate the god that created them and then made them go through all this chaos.

Yep, she loves her dignity more than anything else. I hope they don't let her go too easily.

Did anyone catch the livestream between the three true gods? Instead of gods, the three of them were bantering like three little boys. There was also a separate stream of Xu Kai and Liu Xueyi but I can't find it on Youtube. Watched it on bilibili though.

Wish they would've invited Zhou Dongyu too. It seemed like they all had so much fun filming ALP.

I see the parallel too! Jingjian telling Fengran that no one could hurt her - even his mother - was really touching.

Shanggu and Fengran can work together with Tianqi to torture Wuhuan. Tianqi was framed by her so he has to partake in this too!

She looked quite beautiful in the qipaos in Sparrow. Her styling there reminded me of the vintage advertisements from Shanghai.

I was able to understand Bai Jue's plan thanks to the hints that Gu Jun dropped. It was kind of obvious when he kept trying to separate Qing Mu and Hou Chi. I figured Bai Jue must've meticulously planned something.

I'm just heartbroken that Bai Jue has to go through this alone and to be remembered as cold and mean to Hou Chi/Shang Gu. Want to give them all a hug.

Same here! In ep 41 wedding scene, he is clearly in pain the entire time but have to hold back his emotions so his plan will go through. His pure shock when he hears that she's carrying their baby almost broke him. I just can't hate Bai Jue. He hasn't stopped loving Shang Gu or Hou Chi since their first life.

I might have to rewatch it because I was crying throughout the whole thing and probably missed the details. Zhou Dongyu and Xu Kai really nailed this episode with their crying. It was so heartbreaking to see Gu Jun sacrifice his life for his daughter.

Now my eyes hurt from all the crying and we're not even at the end yet...

About ep 41...

Watched this purely for Liu Xueyi. A versatile actor that deserves more than this low budget movie. Hope he gets more recognition.

I like both but I'm leaning towards Feng Ran.
