The highest average rated LGBT drama in Thai television history, one of the most popular shows on iQIYI, and the #1 show on the One31 platform. No one is doing it like Spare Me Your Mercy. 👏👏👏
I came here after I saw both Luo Yunxi and Arthur Chen's official studios posting a photo of Mo Ran and Chu Wanning on their list of 2025 works. Here's hoping we're not getting trolled again (someone mentioned that this doesn't mean Immortality will come out this year, but it does indicate that it has maintained its broadcasting license). T_T
I hope investors do see the amazing chemistry they have and cast them as lovers again, but maybe in a more lighthearted romance drama rather than the angst filled one on this show. 🙏
TorJJ,y’all were phenomenal and really embodied your characters. I’m happy this was well received & also has…
Yeah, I just found out that Spare Me Your Mercy has the highest ratings average out of any LGBT show in Thai television history. I'm so happy for the cast and crew bc they absolutely deserve it!!
If we don't get a second season of this phenomenal drama, I hope JJ and Tor can at least work on another project again because their romantic chemistry was so strong on the show and they didn't even need NC scenes or multiple kisses to prove it.
I just found out that I think he looked like Chen Feiyu 😍
That's who I was thinking of every time he came on screen on Spare Me Your Mercy (besides PP Krit of course). I always thought he looked like Arthur Chen lol.
Spare Me Your Mercy is the first drama I've seen him in and he knocked it out of the ballpark. He had incredible range and emotion on that show and I've never seen crying that sounded so raw and real the way he did in the last episode.
Kind of expected the sad ending given that Kan and Wasan still have different viewpoints about euthanasia, but even if we never get a second season, I'm so thankful for this show and its contribution to renewed discussion and awareness about end of life care in Thailand. It's hands down one of the best dramas of 2024 and I hope Tor and JJ get the flowers they deserve. They gave everything they had and their chemistry was just off the charts INSANE. This is only a taste of what Tor and JJ are capable of when they play a pair of lovers so can you imagine them in a full blown romance drama? They would be a force to be reckoned with as an onscreen power couple.
oh no, i hope not. He did the right thing those patients were in a lot of pain and their health wasn’t going…
It's not so much that Kan isn't doing the right thing. Euthanasia is a morally gray issue and it's still illegal in Thailand so Kan is technically committing a crime and even more so when he shot Boss in the neck to prevent him from telling Wasan the truth about Raweewan, Wasan's mother. A screenwriter for the show said he might be able to prove his innocence in the finale though.
So this might be in episode 8 and I think it's the scene where Wasan finds out the truth about Kan's involvement in his mother's death or Kan being sentenced to prison for his crimes. Either way, I'm not mentally prepared for the finale on Christmas. 😢😭
The show definitely deserves at least a 9. The plot is incredibly thrilling and tackles a controversial topic not often seen in the media in general. The actors are really bringing their A game here and the cinematography is utterly gorgeous. I know a lot of people are complaining that the romance is too light, but the show is a mainstream series in Thailand airing at a primetime slot and with such a heavy subject matter, I feel like a lighter romance is appropriate given that Wasan and Kan are pretty much star crossed lovers atp and the show only has 8 episodes. One of the screenwriters is hinting at a good ending for our main couple tho so fingers crossed it's a Merry Christmas for those of us who celebrate. <3
How strange the world is... Kan's actions are portrayed as compassionate, kind, and saintly. Through the words…
I'm a cancer nurse and I've seen what immense pain looks like with my patients. They're often cachexic (extreme weight loss) and moaning from so much pain. I myself have been experiencing chronic health issues for the past decade that's hindered my ability to do my job at times and beg God for death because that's how bad the pain is. In the 7th episode, we find out that Kan watched his mother writhing on the floor from excruciating pain as a result of pancreatic cancer. If the person you love was suffering and begging you to end their life, especially when the cancer has spread all over the body, wouldn't you do it? A cancer that's metastasized is gradually eating you alive. It comes for other organs in your body so it feels like you're dying a slow and painful death. That's why euthanasia isn't an all white and black issue and the show isn't trying to glorify Kan's actions by portraying him as saintly. On the contrary. By shooting Boss point blank, Kan has shown that he has the capacity for murder and what makes him particularly dangerous is that he did it out of his fierce love for Wasan.
In the novel, Dr. Kan does end up serving his time in prison and this fractures his relationship with Captain…
Yeah, they're adapting both books so it will be interesting to see how they handle Wasan and Kan's romance arc in the finale. It may not be sunshine and rainbows though. 😢
I really am starting to agree with people who say this is going to have a History Trapped type of ending because…
In the novel, Dr. Kan does end up serving his time in prison and this fractures his relationship with Captain Wasan before eventually reconciling so there are legal repercussions that he will potentially face in the last episode. At this point, we can hope for at least an open ending that leads up to a possible second season.
The idea that Kan is willing to kill for love and die for his love for Wasan had me shook. He's been such a sympathetic character especially with his backstory revealed in this episode, but there's a side of him that has the potential to be sinister and this characterization is what makes him so three dimensional to me.
I haven't slept yet because the episode was so freaking intense 🤯First of all, how does Dr. Rin know the song???? Second of all, Dr. Kan is officially a murderer. In the book, he does end up going to prison and IIRC, Wasan loses contact with him for a couple of years, but I'm not sure how the story's getting wrapped up in episode 8. I think a second season needs to happen. 😭
