I only got into this show two months ago, but I would consider this THE standard for all Boys Love dramas from now on. No wonder it became wildly popular all over the world. The humor, action, and character dynamics were incorporated really well and the twists and turns had me at the edge of my seat. Most importantly, Mile and Apo stole the show for me. Maybe it's because they're an older BL couple, but their relationship felt much more natural, mature, complex, and realistic than the relationships I'm used to seeing in BL dramas. They set the bar extremely high and I'm so happy to know that they're looking for a suitable script for their new drama together after Man Suang. Their chemistry is one of a kind and it's too strong to be contained to just one project alone.

Not only is he devilishly handsome and talented for someone who's relatively new to acting, but I also love his attitude and lack of filter. He just says what's on his mind and doesn't give a fuck what anybody else thinks of him. King shit behavior.

Does anyone know what this movie is about?
They released an official synopsis a couple of months ago and it says that it's going to be a love story between a Khon dance troupe member, Khem, and a Taphon drummer, Chat, set during the Rattanakosin Kingdom period of Thailand. Beyond that, nothing specific about the movie's plot has been released so far since the movie hasn't wrapped up filming yet. Some of the cast members have hinted that it's going to make a lot of people cry, implying that the love story between the two male leads will have a tragic element to it, especially now that we know there's a class difference between them with Khem (Apo) being a commoner and Chat (Mile) being a prince.

Title A League of Nobleman Spoiler
I loved the earlier episodes but the end (and last few episodes)though spectacular was filled with inconsistencies…
The ending did feel rushed, but it became clear to me that Lan Jue and Zhang Ping most likely covered up the truth because they didn't want a regime ruled by Gu Qingzhang, the biological son of the Empress, who has killed innocent people. Zhang Ping himself says that the current Emperor, although not the rightful heir, should be Emperor based on the merit of his qualities and his potential to become a great leader to their people.

As for cutting the more affectionate moments between Lan Jue and Zhang Ping, I wholeheartedly agree that it hurt the flow of the story in some ways. Even though the novel wasn't BL, the drama was obviously setting up a subtle romantic subplot between Zhang Ping and Lan Jue, especially since their chemistry grows a lot stronger in the final 7-8 episodes of the drama. For example, we find out that Lan Jue is a widower with a son (the son also exists in the novel btw), but even though he has a son to live for, he still chooses to risk his life for Zhang Ping. This is heavily evident in episode 28 when he thought Zhang Ping already died and decides to pull a knife on Gu Qingzhang with the ardor of a man who had nothing left to lose. When Zhang Ping appears, he starts to cry tears of relief. He also straight up implies, albeit in a backhanded manner, that he would follow Zhang Ping into the afterlife in episode 29. These details were deliberately added in to show that they had fallen in love by the end of the drama, but those feelings unfortunately couldn't be expressed in full due to censorship.

BL? Or ? Will it be similar to The Untamed? Since it's kinda give the vibes
It's based on a BL novel, but even with censorship I'm pretty positive that audiences will still be able to see that the two male leads, Mo Ran and Chu Wanning, are lovers in the drama.

I've been wanting to watch a historical Thai BL for the longest time and now it seems like I'll be able to??? I'm so excited for this one and Apo looks incredibly beautiful performing Khon traditional dance in the trailer. Can't wait to see how his and Mile's characters fall in love in the movie!

I know everyone here is saying that it's the CCP/NRTA that's blocking this show and others like it from airing,…
This. I hate how people try to stigmatize the BL genre by pretending that it's only for straight women who fetishize romantic relationships between two men, but there are those of us who aren't straight and are simply excited to see same-sex relationships at the forefront of huge, mainstream productions. Dangai/BL dramas have also increasingly grown both in quality and popularity and generate profitable revenue for China domestically and internationally so it's baffling to see some bitter people try to tear the whole genre down along with its actors.

For reference: there's not a single dangai drama in China that hasn't topped the list of the charts so far. A League of Nobleman, while not as massively popular as The Untamed and Word of Honor, is technically the first BL drama to have aired since the ban on dangai dramas and it was still topping the charts when it was on air. Same thing is happening right now with Justice in the Dark which is currently topping the charts in China and has the highest fan engagement according to this weekly ranking despite being on hold.

I hope they don't end up censoring the scenes from the leaks because I'm already feeling Word of Honor levels of incredible chemistry between the two male leads. Chang Geng seems to be really sweet in the way he cares for and protects Gu Yun. 🥺

I'm not sure we even got to see him because his character is romantically involved with the current Emperor in Dafeng Guaguo's BL novel, 皇叔 (Imperial Uncle) and was most likely cut to pass censorship.

Is this worth watching for a BL/bromance fan?
Definitely! The novel the show is based on isn't BL, but the drama was written with BL elements in mind imo.

Guys do you know if tencent cut scenes from ALON to pass censorship or just before releasing it? If latter is…
There are BTS footage where Lan Jue and Zhang Ping, the two male leads of A League of Nobleman, show more affection with each other than what we saw in the drama so there were definitely suggestive scenes between them that were cut to pass censorship. They also completely dropped the novel plot point about them being half brothers, which lends more credence to the idea that the writers were gunning for a subtle romance between the two.

Just saw this and I'm honestly amazed by the effort the costuming department put into conveying an implied romance between Lan Jue and Zhang Ping at the end of the drama. 😱

"如梦令' (Romantic Dream) represents a lingering and sentimental emotion. The mood of this color is usually gentle, elegant, emotional, and romantic, and is used to express emotions such as love, parting, and longing."

Seems to me, I get why people here complain about lack of chemistry between Lan Jue and Zhang Ping and become…
You summed up their relationship really well imo. When the story first started, there was a glaring class difference between Zhang Ping and Lan Jue so there was a power imbalance in their dynamic, but as the story progressed, their relationship gradually bloomed into something deeper (judging from the way they think about each other when they're apart, the longing looks, the pining!!, the lyrics conveying Lan Jue's feelings for Zhang Ping in their breakup song, the conversation about soulmates, the orchid sachet being the thing that bound them to each other from childhood until now, and the tears of relief in their eyes when they see each other alive) and by the end, they became equals in the eyes of society. That's why I love the call back to how they first met. It's a sign that new and promising things will develop between them as two men of equal standing. 😊

I still didn't start watching this drama but I do have a question is it Lang Jue and Zhang Ping or Lang Jue and…
Even though the novel has no official couple, the show makes it pretty clear that Zhang Ping and Lan Jue are meant to be the main couple of sorts, but their love and affection for each other is more subtle than Lan Jue and Wang Yan likely because of censorship reasons so it's totally understandable why so many people ship Lan Jue and Wang Yan.
