It still doesn't make it a BL. It's a love story and that's it. Xiao Wei didn't know anything about love and humans…
Then we weren't watching the same thing, especially when Xiao Wei literally spent more time with Wang Sheng than he did with Pei Rong. You can't say he had no feelings for him at all. That's a very simplistic view of the story and the fact that he gave his own lock of hair to Wang Sheng at the end proves that he's fallen in love with him.
Even if he never comes back to the entertainment industry (and who can blame him?), I'm just relieved to know that there's someone out there more powerful than us speaking up for him and empowering other people in the industry to do the same. He was never guilty of any wrongdoing and it's finally coming to light.
Happy birthday Junjun!! I wish you much success and happiness in life. Thank you for making my life a little brighter this year with your mesmerizing performance as Wen Kexing.
I'll just decide not to watch it. TGCF without a Hualian line is worthless to even consider watching it. I can't…
Exactly! Hualian is such a beloved and iconic couple that if their romance gets scrapped completely, the storyline will lose its integrity and the show might as well create an entirely different plot altogether especially since the love story between Xie Lian and Hua Cheng is a major part of Heaven Official's Blessing.
After TU success, I thought we'll have dozens of BL adaptations in live action, so I refrain myself from reading…
No, they had around 54 BL IPs bought for live action adaptations after The Untamed's success so investors definitely knew that BL is lucrative, but unfortunately, because of BL's growing mainstream popularity, it caught the attention of the govt which is why there are tighter restrictions on BL now.
His name is Ethan Yao and imo he looks like he'll capture the gentle, but menacing sides of Junwu really well. I'm excited for this casting and can't wait to see him play the role when Eternal Faith comes out in 2023 (gonna be optimistic because Hua Cheng's devotion to Xie Lian is eternal so it's only fair to wait for their beautiful love story to unfold onscreen). 😊
A League of Noblemen, Immortality, Winner is King. We're all desperately waiting, and hoping, only to be disappointed…
I know the future of BLs in China is uncertain at the moment, but I would argue that since the BL elements seem to be light enough to consider A League of Nobleman not BL, then it technically has the highest chance of airing (even though I still think the drama will hint at a romance between Zhang Ping and Lan Jue) and will probably be given a release date soon. I hope it does because the teaser for it made me think BLs are really leveling up in quality.
It still doesn't make it a BL. It's a love story and that's it. Xiao Wei didn't know anything about love and humans…
The love may be unrequited in the present story and Wang Sheng still loved Pei Rong, but the love between Pei Rong and Wang Sheng wasn't the focus of the story. It was about Xiao Wei learning to become human through his feelings for Wang Sheng and the moment Xiao Wei gave Wang Sheng his hair is the moment where he realized he's truly fallen in love with him.
Tencent’s Industry Event wrapped up and there wasn’t even a mention of HYX air date. Hugs to all HYX/Erha…
I have a feeling they may not even disclose the actual date for Haoyixing to protect the drama from attracting unwanted attention from the censorship board. They'll just drop the drama on a random day.
I'm disappointed about the novel lock, but I think the drama still has a chance of airing. They never said BL dramas are banned. It's just likely to be released at a later time when all this censorship cools down, especially since Boys Love dramas in China have just reached new mainstream popularity. I keep reminding myself that the people who have already watched Immortality are in agreement that it's going to be a great show and I have a strong feeling it's going to be HUGE when it comes out. Tencent was confident enough in the story to shell out $40 million USD into it, the most expensive BL drama to date. We just have to be confident and patient that we'll be able to see it shine too.
The third episode threw me in for a loop. I LOL'd so hard when Akkun said "What?" after Ida asked him if he thought Aoki was cute too until the last couple of minutes totally cleaved my heart in two. The misunderstanding got cleared up, but now that Aoki and Ida have fallen in love with each other for real, it looks like we'll be getting some quality 500k word level of strangers to friends to lovers pining and angst.
Just two episodes in and I'm already smitten with the budding romance between Ida and Aoki. Ida is such a sweet and attentive guy. He always sees Aoki's positive qualities and encourages him to reevaluate his self-esteem. It's no wonder why they're starting to fall for each other for real.
I haven't watched a Japanese drama in a long time, but this drama reminded me so much of what I love about Japanese dramas. It's lighthearted, silly, and utterly delightful. After watching the first episode, I can safely conclude that Ida and Aoki are going to be so freaking CUTE together and they're like a 100k word strangers to friends to lovers misunderstanding and fluff fanfiction come to life. I'm excited to see their relationship develop into something real!
Not 100% confirmed, but this is apparently a snippet of what happens in the first episode of Haoyixing according to someone who has already watched it (probably someone in the Chinese entertainment circle):

The drama sounds like it's going to be filled with a truckload of angst and I'm not sure I'm equipped to handle all of that. :(
