Just noticed that Guo Jingming describes the relationship between Qingming and Boya as that of zhiji (soulmates). We've heard that word before to describe the relationships between Lan Wangji/Wei Wuxian (The Untamed) and Wen Kexing/Zhou Zishu (Word of Honor) and both pairs are canonically lovers. You can guess where I'm going with this, especially when Qingming and Boya spend a good chunk of the movie pining for each other.
As for being disappointed that Qingming and Boya's interactions weren't longer in this movie, the sequel will apparently focus heavily on their relationship since it's central to the storyline so we have that to look forward to.
"In the engagement, the fiancée took the hairpin form her hair and gave it to her fiancé as a pledge. This is a reversal of the Western tradition of the potential groom presenting his betrothed with a ring. After the wedding, the husband put the hairpin back to his new wife’s hair. "
Sound familiar? Wen Kexing does exactly this to Zhou Zishu in episode 31 and as a frame of reference, Qin Jiuxiao carved a hairpin for Princess Jing'an to show his love for her in episode 1 so calling their relationship a brotherhood or a platonic friendship is wrong. No two bros will do this in China unless they also want to marry each other. Not to mention that in the original source material, they're literally lovers so any interpretation that isn't romantic is completely and objectively wrong. This drama is and will always be, at its core, a powerful romantic love story between two men. If you don't like it, find something else to watch.

The CCP has been known to be hypocritical. For example, it previously encouraged Chinese citizens to visit war shrines in Japan to understand the unforgivable crimes Japan committed against China. Then around March of this year, it stopped encouraging citizens from visiting those shrines and pretended like it never encouraged them in the first place. Give it some time and we'll most likely see it backtrack on this BL ban/ban on feminine men when the Chinese public calls it out on its ridiculous bans.
OMG that looks sooo good. Please don't tell me this is only available in China and not for us international residents.…
Right?! I'm so jealous of the Chinese fans. They get to have Shizun Lotus Cakes and White Pear Blossom drinks while waiting for HYX to air. Sometimes, I wish I was back in China again. 😔
Agreed! I'm so glad they fixed the rating because the show doesn't deserve anything less than a 9.Edit: Nevermind,…
This kind of glitch occurs from time to time, but I'm having a hard time believing that 8.6 is the real rating for Word of Honor. It's been stuck like that ever since it finished airing.
This is confirmation that people were being paid to destroy his life and I think the general public needs to be cognizant of these underhanded tactics before jumping into uninformed conclusions. https://twitter.com/QuelleVous/status/1435166698345152515
I am wondering, why there are many females (and straight females) who like danmei or danmei adaptation? Why do…
I'm an asexual female and I grew up reading shonen-ai at the age of 10 . Never looked back and never enjoyed anything heterosexual since. IMO, heterosexual/BG dramas are the same everywhere. A romantic relationship that doesn't have proper buildup because it's expected that the male and female lead are going to get together by virtue of the fact that they're the opposite sex. There's rarely any conflict in heterosexual driven stories and at this point, they're just repeating the same story over and over again. Dangai/danmei/Boys Love dramas have become a lifeline for me now. After being queerbaited for decades by American media, I've finally discovered the world of danmei where male couples are not only canon, but their love stories are surprisingly well executed too. With danmei, I feel like I'm watching an epic, multilayered, and complicated story develop around an equally epic, complex, and fascinating love story between two equals. The worldbuilding is just phenomenal and the found family trope often found in danmei is my favorite thing of all. Danmei hits all of my buttons so I'm elated to see it rise to more mainstream popularity these days. Weirdly enough, it has also allowed me to connect with my Chinese heritage in ways I never did before.
if only this is not censored Arthur would've been sucked by Yunxi...cuz gurrllll my LYX be sucking all his female…
According to people who have already watched the show, Luo Yunxi and Arthur Chen's chemistry is apparently OFF THE CHARTS so if they were allowed to kiss, our TV screens would be on fire and we're gonna need to bathe in holy water afterwards lol!
