I was also swooning over how good Takahashi Issei looked in a suit XD Aoi Yu and him definitely need to be a romantic…
RIGHTTTTTTTTT *swoons*
Btw have you seen Nagi's Long Vacation? Takahashi Issei is great in that. It's one of my fav slice of life dramas hehe :)

Title Wife of a Spy Spoiler
It was interesting to watch the film from a traitor's perspective because usually I have seen films of this period…
Oh yes, that as well. The kind of times they lived in, someone had to be a scapegoat & Fumio seemed to be a willing one, so they were able to easily use him that way. I don't think they were ok, it's more like they just had to live with that guilty conscience. There was nothing else they could do. Also probably they were used to it because that was their everyday reality.

What scary times people lived in back then. Imagine the fear of being caught or betrayed looming all the time & then being tortured to death. I feel thankful for the world we're in right now.

Once again, what makes this drama good is Nanao’s superb acting. I’m a bit disappointed on Mone for this one.…
Agree! I much prefer the growth Mone's character went through in Love Lasts Forever than this one.
I didn't enjoy the romance as much & I found the episodes very formulaic in that they followed a particular pattern each episode (1 work problem, standard beginning/ending scene with Nami & Jun etc) Its not bad per se, but I didn't find it as exciting as I did the first 4 episodes. The characters, too, were not layered. I found them pretty typical & one note at points. Pity, this had potential to be a lot more!

Extended preview for the last ep...~~~~ https://www.instagram.com/p/CMV-bSjBSsn/Ugh, my Japanese isn't enough…
Some parts I understood -

- Aoi talks about a proposal from Soseki (not clear who he proposed)
- there's some talk about loneliness between Hikaru & Aoi
- Sora telling Wataru that she does not understand what love is & Wataru tells her what it is (while Hikaru looks at smiling Sora during the voiceover)

This has me hyped. THANK YOU!

DECENT one time watch. It checked all the boxes for a good love story, but I didn't love it even though there was nothing that I really disliked about it. I didn't particularly care for the characters (neither love nor dislike). The OST was A1, as with a lot of J dramas from the 90s. Watch if you want to see a romance-centric drama. I much prefer the FL's other dramas like Risou No Kekkon, Beautiful Life or Aishiteiru to Ittekure for those who enjoy romance.

I saw someone watching this on the train today, and it brought back memories. Just came here to say that there is nothing revolutionary about their love. In fact it's almost non-existent HAHA

There's tons more of these, not every jdrama has the "anime-like" acting, those are in *some* of those shoujo…
Other than the ones mentioned, check out the following -

Horimiya (currently airing)
Sekai Ichi Muzukashii Koi
Zenkai Girl
Soratobu Kouhoushitsu
Takane No Hana
Orange Days
Aishiteiru to Ittekure
Date
Lupin No Musume
In This Corner of the World
Destiny-Like Love
Nemureru Mori no Jukujo
Rich Man Poor Woman
Uchi no Musume wa Kareshi ga Dekinai (currently airing)

Will recommend more if you like these :)

I don't agree with your comment about recent jdramas seemingly looking like soft-porn at all, makes me curious…
Wow it's quite the opposite for me. I keep coming across so many fantastic J dramas even in the recent years (that too in the majority). Those with infidelity & sexual content are so few in numbers like I barely come across a few a year. Too bad these are the ones that become popular, causing many to think that's what all J dramas are about.

Calling it right now, the next two main leads in season two is Kanae and Todoroki. Kanae's got a bow and now has…
Really? Hmm I don't know how I feel about this. While I like the show, I don't know if I would enjoy S2 as much without Hibiki & Kurumi.

wow I actually gasped when Hibiki actually shot Kurumi with the bow but makes sense when he's become so bloodthirsty…
You said pretty much everything I wanted to say! I am enjoying this for what it is & how circumstances push humans to the darkest versions of themselves. We are after all made for survival.

Well she is 20..so not teen but youth I would say
Oh man, I feel you so much. I grew up in that era as well & back then, it was like all the leads were competing for the most toxic ML title. I had a phase when I was so into cold, toxic MLs & I would romanticise their behaviour. I'm so glad I grew out of that phase to realise that being kind was the real deal. Happy that times have changed.

Honestly would have preferred if Motoharu stayed back and tried to make a better relationship with Mio instead…
YES TO THIS!! It is so important to live in this moment & do the best you can. I wasn't for the idea of them going back but I'll see how it plays out before judging.

10 episodes in, I can confidently say that I don't see this as a remake anymore. They made this their own story & what a contemplative & beautiful show this has been. There was not a single dull moment. As excited as I am about the ending, the lessons this has taught with me will stay with me for long.
It's nice to see the comments section come alive after E10 HAHA
