I must admit this was a mixed bag for me the first few episodes but I found myself liking it more & more as it went on. While I do think the set up could have been executed better with some very obvious loopholes (for eg how did the firm survive without any clients before Dai Qi came along, clarity on Yu Xin's job scope), the characters are the strongest aspect of this drama. They are real, pleasant & they make you want to root for them, right from the leads to the supporting characters (who form part of the main gang). I did have some issues with the legal aspect but that's because I work in the legal profession & I do realise that for an ordinary viewer, the legal scenes would look somewhat realistic. It is definitely not as dramatic as a lot of other dramas show it to be.
The leads have this dynamic which I really enjoy. There is a slight awareness of each other (it slips sometimes) yet at the same time, it is innocent in the way they tease each other & bicker most of the time. I love that Da Qi, despite being hung up on his girlfriend, isn't ignorant to his growing feelings for Yu Xin (re: his convo with his girlfriend in E8). That was refreshing. I can't believe he even confessed, and Yu Xin realised her feelings after the kiss. Like no beating around the bush, love it! I love the medical element to Da Qi's character. That was not only smart in explaining his memory & abilities, but also refreshing because it isn't your typical lead-is-dying kinda set up. I am really looking forward to see how this aspect plays out. The FL is a fighter & I like that she constantly rises up to the occasion & while she is impulsive at times, she is not irritating (thank god). She is endearing at times. I do like also the way they intertwine the legal cases with the lives of the main characters, rather than treating them as 2 different aspects. Wan Ting & the lawyer who likes her (forgot his name) are very real as well. They don't let their experiences define them & constantly work at being better, and improving. Da Qi's assistant is decent as well. I do wish they casted better for Yu Xin's boss though. Out of the entire cast, he's the only one who constantly overacts & it is cringey.
All in all, I'm enjoying this. It's not the best drama about there, but it's a little mix of everything - legal, crime, romance, mystery & slice of life. I would say it's a decent show. Definitely has the potential to be more, but I'll see how the next 6 episodes go.
Am I thinking too much or it is suspicious that Itsuki was able to dig up all that info about Azuma & give it…
Hmmm I don't think Hidaka & Itsuki have that kind of connection. Never got that kind of vibe from them. They're too cordial to be exes HAHA. At least that's what I think.
The only reason I suspect Itsuki & Sekuhara is because they both got the info on Azuma on the same day & I don't think Itsuki has that kind of power to dig up someone else's identity. Also the fact that she acted so normal when she asked Hidaka if he murdered (its strange because in the very same stretch she also said Hidaka is too kind to murder) so I don't know..
I think this show is making me overthink HAHA.
Anyway thank you so much subber san for your effort & for being early this week! Seems like you couldn't wait for it either hehe
no mention of the memory card in episode 8!I feel scared when watching these episodes lol xDI know the correct…
Dude E8 gave me so much anxiety. I was legit screaming SHIT SHIT SHIT at my laptop especially in the second half of the episode.
Preview for E9 looks all sort of intense. I am seriously gonna lock my room, & prepare my drinks beforehand so that no one can disturb me when I'm watching the episode. HAHA.
Memory card dropped to the ground, I feel like someone is going to get their hands on it soon. Please let it not be Sekuhara.
This is HANDS DOWN my favourite drama from Kitagawa Eriko. I can't believe she's the same person who wrote Orange Days, Aishiteiru to Ittekure, Saigo No Koi, One Million Stars Falling From the Sky, Destiny Like Love etc.. I've seen most of her stuff. I have enjoyed a lot of her works, but she's really outdone herself with this one. You can see so much growth in her writing & the way she clearly made fun of so many tropes that she's used in her older dramas. Also, this show is so so progressive (without being in your face about it). The emotional elements are so damn well balanced with the comedy. Each episode makes you smile & cry. Colour me impressed! It's gonna be hard to let go of this one *sobs* :(
My final theory for the series (I know this will get thrown over the window once EP9 drops)As a way for Hidaka…
Am I thinking too much or it is suspicious that Itsuki was able to dig up all that info about Azuma & give it to Mochizuki. Also I wonder why they mentioned that she's pregnant?
Also if Riku's boss is Azuma on the records (like what Itsuki has presented) , then whose identity has he assumed?
I felt so bad for Hidaka & then that ending happened URGHHHHHHHHH WHYYYYYYY. I don't know if I hate Hidaka or…
Hmm... I thought that E9 debunked the whole theory that Azuma/Hidaka ever switched (at least to me). So I don't think he's aware of it.
I thought that Azuma asked Riku to go to Amami with him because either he wants to hold him hostage in return for something from Hidaka & Mochizuki OR he wants to kill Riku (he may have figured out what Riku is up to)
RE: The switch - Now we know it requires the rock, full moon night, falling with force, being on the bridge. These are confirmed. Also on both nights, Hidaka & Mochizuki were at odds with one trying to arrest the other so I wonder if that's another variable? Like they have to be pitted against each other. There's also another variable - the sun (which has something to do with Azuma). I'm not clear about what it is. But one thing I'm pretty sure is that Hidaka can only switch with Mochizuki. I remember many episodes back, Hidaka made the comment in the salon that he understood why it had to be her. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but the 1st episode after Hidaka gave Mochizuki the mask, he had this really contemplative look when he figured out that she's a police officer. I wonder if they have a connection that Mochizuki is unaware of. Remember she also dreamed of Hidaka (even before they met) taking the rock from her on the 1st episode.
The switch is connected with the sun/moon but I really can't figure it out. I hope the show will make that clear by the finale.
One thing about Azuma - The records show that he is Azuma but if I'm not wrong he's known by another name. Whose identity has he assumed?
I was also wondering why they had to mention that Itsuki was pregnant. And now she's in on it with Mochizuki. That makes me think something is up. Also Itsuki is no police, how was she able to dig up that info on Azuma? Am I reading too much into it? I wonder if she is Sekuhara's wife LOL
Episode 8 made me even more curious as to how this story will end, but I am really going to miss the characters…
I feel the same. It really hit me in E8 that we're drawing closer to the final chapter & it made me sad. I thought it was just the mystery & thrill that hooked me, but I also fell in love with the characters in the process. I'm definitely gonna miss this show.
WHY ARE THEY SO ADORABLE OMGGGGG I just can't with these two. Also they are way more mature than high schoolers. It's just such a wholesome relationship <3
E8. SHIT! SHIT! SHIT! AND THE PREVIEW FOR E9. THAT INTENSITY & CHASE. SUNDAY COME SOON!!!
I felt so bad for Hidaka & then that ending happened URGHHHHHHHHH WHYYYYYYY. I don't know if I hate Hidaka or love him for what he did. On one hand, he did it to protect Azuma but on the other hand, he's putting Mochizuki through this. I don't know how I am going to wait for the next episode after that ending. Finally they have switched back.. anxious & excited for the next week.
RIKU DON'T GO WITH AZUMA PLEASE. WHY DOES IT FEEL LIKE AZUMA IS UP TO NO GOOD
