They broke up for such a stupid reason urghh :( And seriously what is with Nakazawa coming to her at the end of the episode?! I don't know but I just don't feel that excitement about this show anymore (like I used to in the first 4 episodes).. sigh this had so much potential!
Which drama with Toyokawa Etsushi you can recommend??)
These are some of his best dramas IMO -
Aishiteiru to Ittekure (one of the most romantic Japanese dramas)
Aoi Tori (for slice of life, romance & outdoor locations - the whole show was shot outdoor going from one place to another covering a lot of Japan's country side north down to south I think, do note that there is a twist at the end that will make you uncomfortable)
Kono Yo No Hate (for anybody that wants to watch one of the darkest Japanese dramas from that era, absolutely brilliant)
Dropping it. ML is ... it's the same problem as in Deus Ex Human Revolution: a hero complaining non stop. Gosh…
I just finished the 1st episode, and it picks up after the 30-40 mins. He doesn't actually complain much after that, and the show becomes more contemplative & heartwarming.
For the first half an hour or so, I couldn't empathize with the ML and wanted to give this up given how he just kept complaining. But I decided to persist on, and I am glad I did.
The more we went on, the more we went beyond the exterior & saw that he clearly loves his wife, his job & his patients. We got introduced to his world, his quirkiness & his gentle side. It gets tough a lot of times because of how long the work hours are, & how grey the medical profession is with. Doctors are not God and they can't always save everyone. Regardless of how many years you work, you are human at the end of the day & watching your patient die makes you feel sad & question whether you did your best (even if you did)
We also slowly got introduced to the various characters in the hospital, from the nurses to the patients, & the people that live with Doc (is it a sharehouse? Or just 1 building?).. and it ended up being contemplative and heartwarming. I teared up at some parts. Either I have become very sensitive or all the J dramas this season are so fantastic that almost all of them have been making me tear up.
It was slow the first hour & I really wanted some action or loud music to burst HAHA but I guess that's also the charm of the show. After all life can be so mundane & slow. You wake up, eat, shit, go to work & then come back home, eat, sleep.. and this cycle repeats for pretty much most of our lifetime. Very few people truly break out of that mundanity. And it's not to say mundanity isn't beautiful. It can very well be, if you have good support around you, like the ML has in the form of his wife & neighbours.
All in all, it was a beautiful 1st episode. I ended up liking it after the first hour. Looking forward to the rest of the series.
AND THE PREVIEW FOR E9. THAT INTENSITY & CHASE. SUNDAY COME SOON!!!
