More people need to watch this drama, just Taiwanese dramas in general! There are some rlly good ones.
I KNOW RIGHT! It's sad because back in the early 2000s, Taiwanese dramas were the thing, and many viewers from then got into the whole Asian dramas scene thanks to Taiwanese dramas! (At least I'm one of them)
I think I would have enjoyed this more had they casted a different actor to play Togashi. It's not that he is bad, but none of his performances so far have impressed me. He paled in comparison to the FL, and I wonder if a better actor would bring more to the character of Togashi, and would make me feel the chemistry between the lead actors. The writing was decent, and the characters had chemistry (like you can understand why the 2 leads would be drawn to each other) but I couldn't feel the chemistry between the leads. Pity because I think the writer wrote some beautiful & tender scenes for them.
All in all, this was a DECENT watch. It had the potential to be a lot better, but I would say the good outweighs the bad, and people should watch this to see how rape affects not only the victim, but people around the victim as well. I expected this to be very dark, but it was fairly watchable (90s J dramas can be very dark & this wasn't one of those).
Is it worth watching? The story seems fresh and new, yet the rating is so low!
MDL rating when it comes to J dramas is always low unfortunately. So many brilliant J dramas are like rated 7 on this site. When it comes to J dramas, I would suggest not to trust the ratings at all.
Just watched E3 & the cat/mouse game between Hidaka & Mochizuki is so thrilling. That ending scene was absolutely brilliant & caught me off guard. To think that this is just the start, AHHHHHHH I LOVE IT SO MUCH. Also, what is up with the roommate? He is creepy af.
I ship them too, but I feel like if she were to be paired with the other guy also it won't be that bad. Same with Mum, whether with the best friend or the editor. My point was that the whole cast has a lot of chemistry, and work well, either ways.
This looks amazing. Those enjoying it, definitely check out Okada Yoshikazu's other wonderful works like Hiyokko…
In This Corner of the World was just PERFECT. The leads were one of the best pairings I've seen in dramaland, and the story was written & acted beautifully. It hurts me that it is so underrated!! I cannot recommend it enough seriously.
I haven't seen Hiyokko. Will check it out, thank you!
