Lol. It's not political correctness for me to want to enjoy a show without having to watch the production take a dump on an entire continent of people. You can love the show and still acknowledge the disrespect. They're not evil but they did a stupid thing and we're allowed to feel some way about it.

This was what I assumed from the start.

At ep 8 and I hate to say it but I can't sympathise with Sun Joo right now. She knew the extent of the affair and also how batshit crazy Mi Ra is, but has decided to stay quiet and stay with her husband??? At this point, everything that happens is on her cos why would you keep these people in your life? It also looks like the husband is trying to kick her mother out of the company and take over which will only make me laugh harder cos she really let this snake keep his job after everything he's done.

I felt like she knew if she tried to explain and say "I love you, but" he wouldn't hear anything beyond "I love you" and that would make leaving him alone that much harder. He would simply refuse to believe that their love could not overcome every obstacle.

I've also enjoyed the depiction of how hard the romance is for Deok Im because of her position and the politics.

Being a Court Lady and seeing everything that's happened in the palace since she was a child is actually enough reason for Deok Im not to want to be a concubine, in my opinion. It's obvious that she's loyal to San, and also that she loves him but I completely understand her reluctance and fear when it comes to being his concubine. She could try to explain it to him, sure, but I feel like she thinks acknowledging it to him would only make him hold on tighter. It was easier for him to try and push her away when he believed she didn't even like him, but if he knows for sure that she loves him? He would never let go.

By the end of ep 15 I'd cried more than once and I felt really satisfied when Deok Im finally reached out to him. This has been the slowest of burns but also very rewarding.

I'm not looking forward to saying goodbye next week. This show has been a remarkable journey and I really loved watching it every week.

I also just made the decision to drop that show! I'm watching Our Beloved Summer and it's surprisingly very deep and moving. If you're not watching it already, I recommend checking it out.

There's no love story, actually.

All the disappointment about the romance tag is why I never read beyond the actual synopsis. Personally, I'm glad the romance is minimal cos neither of these leads is ready for that at this stage with all they have going on.

Idk where you're getting that I said don't watch it. I said after a couple of episodes I'd know if I'm dropping a show or not AND, opinions can change episode by episode. I get that you're defending the show but please don't put words in my mouth.

My personal stance is not to dismiss the opinions and feelings of people who have the lived experience the show is referencing. If that seems unreasonable to you, there's nothing I can do about that. However, as I said earlier, positions may change based on new information if the show goes on, and people really need to be okay with that.

Idk about you, but I usually know whether I'm dropping something after the first couple of episodes. Again, freedom of creativity is fine, but people are allowed criticise the work at every point. If the show goes on and the criticism changes because the plot justifies the choices they made, so be it. That's how criticism works too. That's why the comments sections of shows on this platform are filled with episode by episode discussions and critiques.

After reading different accounts about this controversy, I have to say some of the defenders are giving "Hitler loved dogs" energy. Like someone else said, freedom of creativity etc is fine but it's not freedom from consequence.

Also, why do they keep pushing this narrative of the stepmom not having anywhere else to go when she has a whole adult child living in the same city? Just go and stay with your daughter ma'am.

Young Guk saying he'll call off the engagement if Dan Dan likes him back is so silly. Like no, call it off because you can't stand the person you're supposed to be getting engaged to. He looks so miserable any time he's with Sa Ra and that's his punishment for being this foolish. Even his sister told him to put it off until he got his memories back but the idiot won't listen because Dan Dan doesn't want to be labelled as the reason his relationship failed?

Conclusion: 22 yo YG is a complete idiot and doesn't deserve Dan Dan.

I knew he was trash from the beginning when he gave that weird speech to CP about how he's super loyal and it was confirmed when he lied about the book. Even as a child he was more focused on manipulating his way into power.

I'm so confused honestly. Cos like Aoki is the one who doesn't want to be seen together and he's the one always jumping to conclusions and pushing Ida away, but now Ida doesn't care about the relationship? Everyone can't be on 100 all the time like Aoki and Hashimoto and poor Ida is just trying to match Aoki most of the time.

I think it's funny that Dan Dan's dad is criticising Dae Bum for doing exactly what his wife has been doing throughout their marriage. Where does he think Dae Bum learned that behaviour? Especially when he enabled them this whole time. Now he's shocked? Lol.

I can't remember the exact episode now, but it was pretty early on.
